Emmys
As a TV fan, the Emmys are big. Much bigger than the Oscars. I get to see all my favorite people get recognized for their work that I love so much. I was so excited all day for it.
(Warning: swearing included along with abuse of capslock)
I am filled with RAGE, contempt, disgust, hatred, sadness, disappointment and have I mentioned RAGE at the Emmy voters. THIS IS BULLSHIT. Despicable. Not only did every fucking Office actor lose, we lost to 30 Rock for Best Comedy Series. NO FUCKING WAY. The Office IS the better show. Hands down. 30 Rock is funny and generally well written but it's not at the level of brilliance and hilarity of The Office. It makes me SICK to think they chose it. Yeah, yeah I know it's good for ratings blah blah blah but The Office SHOULD have won. I hate to think that people actually think it's the best show cause it's not.
Rainn and Jenna losing was super disappointing and a great to kill my high enthusiasm for the Emmys which I've been looking forward to all day not to mention the past week. And then Masi lost (the HELL?!) and everyone I wanted to win kept losing and then Katherine FUCKING Heigl wins who I really hate and who does not deserve to win over Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson. Makes me sick. The one bright spot was STEVE presenting which was hilarious and I love how he recognizes that it's not just him but he's a member of the team (that didn't get called up to present :() and of the ensemble. And then the video with Rainn, John and Jenna was hilarious at poking fun at him especially with Jenna's hilarious one liner. God, I love them. Then there was the boring miniseries/movie categories that bored me and I could care less about.
Finally, finally we win best writing for Gay Witch Hunt which HELL YES we have the best writing (and EVERYTHING else which is why The Office IS the Best Comedy OVER 30 Rock which lost to them in this category, SUCK ON THAT) and I screamed with happiness and jumped around about because it was one of the only happy moments I had. Plus the episode is awesome and funny and smart and it's one of my favorite episodes that never fails to crack me up and which I generally feel is underappreciated by general Office fandom. Congrats Greg Daniels and the rest of the Office writers! I absolutely loved the Kanye and Rainn segment which was a nice mashup of two of my favorite celebrities and the lyrics with Kanye's songs was hilarious. Wished there was a bit more Rainn improv though.
Now onto the Best Actor in a Comedy Series. WOW. I was not expecting Ricky to win. But he deserves it and he is a great actor so I'm proud of him. He started The Office so I consider it partly a nod to my show so it's all okay. It was very brave, unique and intelligent for the voters to choose him (three words I would NEVER use to describe them). Especially because not only did I get beautiful Jon and Stephen banter and general slashiness but they gave me exactly what I wanted. Calling Steve up to the stage to get their award for best actor and Steve was so happy jumping around and then: the HUG. Most perfect hug of OT3ness the world has ever seen and was the one thing that would ever redeem this Emmys for me. So we got TWO winners in my eyes and that makes me be okay with it but in the general The Office got robbed theme it was utterly disappointing.
America winning made me happy and made me think the Emmy voters might actually be getting a little bit smarter (combined with Rick). Although James Spader over Hugh Laurie makes no sense at all WTH? And then they announced 30 Rock which I'm sure everyone is like "well im glad it won because the office won last year (HOW MANY TIMES HAS THAT HAPPENED BEFORE??) or it actually is better (YOU'RE WRONG!) and think this justifies it (STILL WRONG) or it's just as good as the Office (NOPE STILL WRONG) or whatever stupid reason is out there. No. And if 30 Rock was as good as The Office then I'd be okay with it much like Ricky Gervais winning. But this unfairness is too much to take. And yeah I know it's just my opinion but in a world full of subjectivity this is the one thing I objectively believe. The Office IS better and I will never accept anything else.
Goodbye Emmys, I will never watch you again, never trust you again and never, ever think you know one ounce of smartness about TV or what is better. You suck. Go to hell, the special hell.
Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me
Take me out to the black
Tell them I ain't comin' back
Burn the land and boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me
There's no place I can be
Since I found Serenity
But you can't take the sky from me...
You can't take away the fact that The Office STILL is the BEST comedy on TV. And Best Show on TV.
ETA: No more reading Office Tally for me. I am going to kill someone if I see another disgusting traitorous comment.
So glad tomorrow is the first day of the new Fall TV season.
