I second Equilibrium. Also, I recommend Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. It's extremely pretty, very fun, and really interesting. Not really a classic, but it's awesome (I say this knowing you're a fan of X-1999, which rocks in a somewhat similar way)

And read Lord of the Rings so you can watch the movies, dammit!
