I love them both too! Not as familiar with them but I know you should check out Balboa park in San Diego with the zoo and aquarium. As for San Francisco definitely check out the Golden Gate Bridge, Fischerman's market and Union Square. Not very unique but you can probably find some other stuff to do online.
