Cocktails

First of all, Happy Belated Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] fenlings, [livejournal.com profile] asuka14, [livejournal.com profile] settai, [livejournal.com profile] notthequiettype, [livejournal.com profile] charmax and [livejournal.com profile] bea_j! Hope you all had a great day :)

So The Office. Wow. Well it's been almost two weeks and I'm still in disbelief here. Cocktails was definitely worth the wait. I just don't know if I'll be able to last for four more weeks. This show owns me completely.

Where do I even begin? With Michael/Jan of course. WOW! I have never been so shocked and amazed and OVERWHELMED with the scenes we got. It was all SO MUCH. Never enough but I can't complain after this.

Dwight tieing up Michael (with chains!) was so funny. "A lot of people think magic is just for kids. And that's why so many other people in my class were kids." Hehe, oh how I love you Michael. Awww I love how much Michael believes. Even if he has no life afterschool. "Michael the magic!" Love. I like how Dwight always messes up his big plans/jokes with his crazy or serious thoughts. Oh, Michael can't you see how Jim and Pam are setting you up? (and yay, small prank for them!). I love how everyone can't help but watch, even Angela. Aww Michael looking for his keys. LOL at him rolling on the floor, that does not stop being funny. I like how he shuts the blinds for once to keep the cameras from watching him mess up. Also? Michael was so hot asking about the "small brass key". Mmm hair messed up with that cute voice. And Michael is so GOB. If you want to go metaphorical in the beginning, I'd say Michael being bound in his straitjacket was him being trapped inside with his secret with Jan. Michael hates keeping secrets and so that's why he was so happy to finally come out with Jan. Michael trying to get out of being stuck just leads to him being crazy with the whole falling on the floor which is similar to his outlandish and inappropiate statements at the party that just trap him further when Jan gets frustrated and wants to keep it a secret again. Michael has to learn that it's his caring, innocence and enthusiasm (his best qualities) that's going to let him go free as that's what appeals to Jan in the car at the end of the episode.

"Another worm? Like are they friends?" LOVE lol. I love how Dwight is willing to do anything for Michael, even smell his breath all crouched down below him (shows where the power is). "Michael, you go to parties all the time" Really Michael? You wish hee. "The CFO, not his initials, common mistake" Hehe love it! "It's kind of our coming out party. And that is why tonight is so special" Awww he's just so cute in his happiness at finally being public with Jan. "I don't like talking paper in my free time...and in my work time" Haha niice. I love how Michael doesn't think at all about inviting Dwight. Michael's smile at seeing Jan calling and the "Herro you...hey buttercup" was the cutest thing ever and I love how Jan isn't bothered at all by it. "Let's just blow this party off...that's what she said!" was hilarious and soo cute how Jan laughed at it. She's falling oh so slowly hehe. I love how Michael is honest about the speakerphone and then Dwight's perfectly said "Hello Jan" because he's always so truthful. And Jan of course is used to it. I love how she says so much with her voice. "Let's just go to a motel and just like...rip into each other like we did on that black sand beach in Jamaica." Um GUH. And WOW. I have never seen it described like that but it sure sounds hot. And I loooove beach sex so it's like this ship is made for me. Which it is. I love how Jan has to keep asking him about the phone and cameras but yet even knowing they're there, isn't really bothered by it. I am glad Michael was firm in this being a big step for them. Don't be scared Jan! Well maybe a little.

How much do I love Pam? SO MUCH. My favorite episode of her so far. "If you're going to be my boyfriend, you have to do boyfriend things." Hee. I love how she describes them. And she did it! Yay to her little smile :) "And don't call me Pammie." LOVE. I am just so proud of her *Michael hugs* "You're dressed exactly like the servants" lol. And of course Dwight will do anything for Michael once again. For a moment there, I thought Steve was going to take his shirt off which would have made me SO happy but we all know Rainn is very shirtless happy. And Michael looked good in his white shirt /shallow. Even Pam's "That duck is so cute" shows that she is being honest and telling people what she likes and wants in an indirect way. And awww Toby going to get it for her. So cute. "Ergo defacto, go to a party early, become a really good friend." Hee! It actually does make some sense in the fact that you do get to talk to the host more but still. "Just...you never know" Aww Michael and your whisperings. It's so great to see the whole office in the bar even Angela.

I love Michael/Jan's first car scene to no end. "In your opinion or in reality" LOVE. As if his opinion wouldn't be reality with all his illusions. "Awesome, I'm going to frame mine. Do you me to frame yours too?" Hee! He's so proud of them and happy at something you'd never think would make anyone excited about. That childish wonder kills me everytime. "Over our love" *SQUEE* I am so right there with you, Michael even if I know you're making it into something it's not meant to be. Poor Jan trying to deflect his overwhelming love for her. The contract really does say a lot though in that she can't hide it in her mind or deny it's happening. "What's the upside? I overcome my nausea, fall deeply in love, babies, normalcy, no more self loathing. Downside? I date Michael Scott publically and collapse onto myself like a dying star." BEST LINE EVER! I will never tire of it. I don't think she's really absorbing the upsides so much but is trying to take them at face value and see the possibilities that are now looking more likely. My favorite of course is falling deeply in love *squee* but I think the no more self-loathing is the most interesting piece of information. "It's a heart" EEEE I LOVE Michael and his adorable 12 year old girl romanticism. And I fully admit to drawing hearts over the i's of my Michael and Jan love doodlings on my notebooks. *hearts them* "Why is this so hard?...That's what she said. Oh my god, what am I saying?" LOL. I burst out laughing when I heard that for the first time, almost fell off my chair. So unexpected but so perfect for Jan to fall into using Michael's favorite sayings. But it fits so well! "I LOVE THIS WOMAN!!" Exactly my feelings, exactly.

"Do you ever watch Battlestar Galactica? No. No? Then you are an idiot" I loove Dwight so much. Who doesn't feel that way about their special show. "Jan and I are lovers. It feels so good to say that out loud." Oh, Michael. Even though it comes out all wrong, I can't fault him for being so happy to finally make it public. His little air neck kiss is just way too cute. Pam's camera smile for getting the right beer was SO CUTE. Have I mentioned how proud of her I am? It makes me so happy she's taking control of her life. Aww Michael with the rejected handhold and kiss. Dwight and Michael asking their inappropiate questions was just hilarious especially with Jim's spittake. I do like how the class subtext always underlies the show. I love how Michael and Jan drink at the same time and how she does ask "Are you okay?" in a Ben Franklin reminiscent way. Splenda! Hee. I loved seeing the whole gang with their drinking game and it makes me happy to see Ryan participating and looking kinda hot with "I kind of heard it on Roy's side". Aww cute quarter Pam smiles :) Creed RULES all with his fake lamination machine. Oscar's face was soo perfect with his WTF expression. My love for Dwight knows no bounds with his pounding and "just the one window" and checking fire alarms.

I love Jan with her hands on her hips trying to deal with Michael's public inappropiateness. He is just too cute with his candle and hey, she actually smells it. Jan's expressions and actions were so perfect throughout the scenes as she becomes unraveled by all of Michael's words. She takes his hand! To get him out of the public eye, thank god. I love how she had no words with her repeated just's showing all her frustration at getting him to stop making it so hard (TWSS) for her. I am out of words for the kiss because GUH it is so hot especially with the lapel grabbing. And then Michael is SO cute with his smiling and "what are you doing?" Oh, Michael you're so clueless that it's adorable. And I love the smile-kiss. "Don't you know what I'm doing?" Jan, how are you so awesome? People can say all they want what does she see in him but I think Michael's attractive, even moreso when Jan has him against a wall so it works like fiery balls of hotness (TWSS) for me. "But you can tell me" Aww Michael, he just wants to know what she means by the kiss that she really loves him. And then Jan pulling him into the bathroom is just crazy hot and so awesome to see her taking charge. "I thought this is where you liked your privacy" is hilarious and of course Jan always goes in the bathroom to get away from him and have time to herself.

The bathroom scene...WOW. It's still hard (TWSS) coming up with words for it and it totally blew me away the first (and second and third, etc) time I saw it. Talk about fucking up gender roles and expectations and just everything. I love it! So much fun and unique and crazy goodness. "No mean please don't" SO funny! But yet the blatent turn around of "no means no" so that I can't believe the rape undertones to it is just insane. "I'm not going to slam you against anything" Hee! She's practically begging right in front of him and yet Michael is Michael and can't do anything because he wants this night to be so special and public. And yet I'm angry right along with Jan because how can he possibly call her inappropiate? Except that in his world, in his mindset of the relationship, it isn't how its supposed to go. Awww Pam and Toby. It really is so cute to see him give Pam the duck even when she's so oblivious and leads him back to his daughter like the art show. Dwight in the rocking chair was hilariously creepy and wrong. "I want one." Love! He knows no boundaries. "What do you know?" Oh so perfect tone. All I can say about the David Wallace/Jim scene is that it is soo slashy. The secret eye looks, the nodding, "meet me outside in two minutes"...kinda hot. And I've liked David since Valentine's Day when he laughed at Michael's tool joke. Awww Jim. I will admit that Karen't prank was good, funny and cute especially both times. But there's still that kind of passive-agressive undertone I don't really like much.

"Not too good." Hee! I love the Initiation callback. And then Michael's little handwave! Awww I feel bad for him. It makes me sad to see him so flustered over his potato salad and "Something's wrong with Jan". I love how both David and Jim, although confuddled about Michael and Jan, don't really take it seriously or are bothered about it. It just shows that Jan needs to let others' opinions go and deal with the relationship on her own terms. Like Dwight for instance. So FUNNY. Only with Dwight can I believe a guy knocking things off a chimney. I love how Jim just takes David's ball away cause he's used to it. "Pretty fun cocktail party" It most definitely was with you involved. I absolutely loved Pam being honest with Roy and herself in admitting she kissed Jim and she had feelings for him in a very believable way with the "I guess". I think Pam was trying to see if she could be truly be honest and let off that guilt she had with him, giving them that fresh start. But it still had that undertone to it that she knew Roy would handle it badly. And boy did he. Totally freaked me out in a very scary way when he started breaking things. That was an overreaction as Andy would say. But I could believe it with Roy's personality and jealousy. And it was funny when Kenny started in for no reason. I am glad it's finally over.

"Our first fight..." of many fights! Perfect circle to The Client (also written by the brilliant Paul). "There was no place to cuddle" So cute! And funny because I can't believe he would actually say that. Oh, Michael. And I love how Jan closes her eyes when he says it like she wants to forget it ever happened. "In secret, it was wrong, it was exciting" This is the thing that really explains the bathroom scene and part of the attraction in the relationship for Jan. Although Michael isn't your protypical "bad boy", he does seem wrong for her and that of itself can be attractive and easy to deal with through sex. I am really glad she was honest about her feelings about not being sure it was the right idea to go public. I think she meant it in terms of her fears and doubts about the relationship but in the end, she decides to deal with it. Same with Michael, even though she hurt him greatly, in the end he overcomes that becomes he wants to be with her more. I love how Michael calls her "my lady" as if he's her knight because in his world they are that chivalrous, epic couple. "Please don't cry" LOVE. Soo funny and perfect that she would know when he's about to cry but yet she accepts it, that it's a part of who he is. "Take your stupid love contract and tear it up into a million pieces" Aww Michael how I love your drama queen words.

"I want the house, Jan. I want the picket fence. I want the ketchup fights and the tickling and the giggling." Hee! That is so Michael and ridiculously cute and crazy. I am glad he stood up for himself and what he wanted from the normal to the absurd and unexpected and let Jan know that so she could decide for herself what she wanted to do. Ketchup fights to me is the ultimate expression of it. It doesn't matter what it is although in my mind it's one of them accidentally squirting each other with a ketchup packet and then the other retaliating and it basically turns into a great food fight that descends into them falling on the floor laughing together. What it really is that Michael wants the spontaneous, fun crazy things you do together where you just let yourself be completely in love and enjoy life. So he lays it all on the line and then Jan's face says it all as she processes it and understands why he feels the way he does. That's why it meant SO much that Jan would take it back because she must want the same things to some degree to keep going with the relationship. Her biting her lip showed that she knew it would be hard but she's willing to keep trying. And so is Michael getting past the pain and saying "I love you, Jan" so much differently than the beginning. This time he really means it and is not just blinded by romantic love or infactuation or happiness. And I do see him putting his hand on hers which is just too cute (the camera should have zoomed in there).

Dwight popping up from the backseat was SO unexpected and hilarious. It's good that neither of them really cares if he hears them or not anymore. "Don't break up you guys, you're great together." I couldn't have said it better myself. I love how he's so their crazy son in their beautiful dysfunctional family that I am definitely thinking will make it in the end. I was really surprised by the end, I thought I had somehow missed something because I'm not used to such cliffhangers on the show but it really wasn't that bad considering I don't care much what happens. Roy obviously was just angry in wanting to kill Jim and I don't think the confrontation will be too big or anything.

I'm really liking how they're paralleling the relationship between Michael/Jan and Jim/Pam that really comes out in both this episode and The Client. Back in The Client, both Jan and Pam denied any of the romantic actions and feelings that they had for Michael and Jim. But one of the biggest things in Back From Vacation was Jan admitting that she did want to be with Michael, that she had been with him. When she reverts it back to mostly sex (I REALLY wish they told us more about the relationship between there and Cocktails) it's still partly to hide her feelings and that's why the "love contract", the "fall deeply in love..." TH and going along with Michael's romantic dreams was so important in her admitting that she was starting to love Michael. Now Pam is also coming out with her feelings for Jim, that it wasn't just him that had feelings for her although she leaves it openended as to what's going to happen with Jim and her. I think Michael/Jan need to end up where Jim/Pam were from the beginning. They need to be able to have that cute, equal and playful friendship, integrating it into their current relationship and personalities. And Jim and Pam need to be honest about who they are and what they want, both romantically and in terms of their hopes and dreams and have a real, public relationship with each other. One of the things I absolutely love about Michael and Jan's relationship is they can be so honest about who they are and their feelings and even though they worry about what the other will say, think or feel, they still let it out. I love how they both can express their individuality and honest feelings. That's exactly what Jim and Pam need to do as well.

I think this episode really brought into question of what is love and do Michael and Jan have it together. Love is mentioned a lot with the "love contract...I never told you that I loved you", "fall deeply in love", "I love you, Jan" but it means varying degrees and types of love to each of them. I think they have the beginnings of love but they need more time, development and character growth for it to truly become real. Their perspectives on their love couldn't be further apart with Michael thinking he loves Jan with all of his heart and Jan not thinking of it as love at all. They have a lot of passionate love as they've obviously had lots of really hot sex ("rip into each other", "meet me at your condo", been seeing and doing a lot of Jan recently, the bathroom scene) and the attraction seems to be both physical, emotional and personality wise. Michael loves Jan's agression (not sure if that's the right word), intelligence and caring underneath that corporate "ice queen shell" while Jan is attracted to Michael's sweetness, emotion and his expression of it and the fact that he can see past her and want her desperately. They also have some more companionate love in that they have worked together for years and there's a caring there from knowing each other, that 5 hour talking marathon where they cried together and genuinely caring about each other's welfare. Jan shows that in asking whether he's okay in Ben Franklin as well as wanting to make him feel better saying she didn't mean it multiple times when he's about to cry. Jan is fooling herself if she thinks that the relationship is all about sex because I'm sure she could easily find that anywhere (she lives in NYC for godssake) and if you spend so much time with Michael you're bound to start falling for him. Going public with their love is important as Michael says because it is a commitment and I'm glad Jan realizes that in the end and goes through it. Yay Cocktails!

I love Michael/Jan times infinity, I really do. I can't wait for more episodes!
