GLEE = Happiness
Man I forgot what a night with a new Glee episode is like. PURE HEAVEN. There is just nothing like getting a new episode and obsessing over it, having the songs on repeat and being in love with everyone and all the ships. Almost every scene is pure gold or has some awesome part to it (and I'm saying almost just in case). I am dying to go to next year's concerts, just watching the episode's songs was making me scream and it's just going to be ecstacy next year getting to see it many more times. I love them all SO MUCH!
SO MUCH LOVE! I started out with no expectations and I was definitely happy with the results. Best part, no surprise, was Empire State of Mind. I had gotten spoiled for it in an ad but I was SUPER looking forward to it and it was much better than I expected. LOVED all the guys rapping, LOVED Mercedes high New Yorks that completely added a ton, loved Mike's dancing, Brittany/Santana/Quinn dancing to the rails (so hot) and Kurt being the sexiest I've ever seen him (maybe excluding Rose's Turn). Rachel's look at Sunshine and Finn's look at Sam were seriously MADE OF SLASH, like I can't believe they don't see that they're totally checking them out. Mike dancing to Kurt was super slashy as well. Also, Puck and Mercedes are now totally Beyonce and Jay-Z and need to sing one of their songs together. So hot on every level, I want to do them all in this.
I love how the previews are even enjoyable with the right, right? You know an episode starts out when it opens with Glee's Big Gay Summer which yeah, I'd see that movie in a HEARTBEAT. The opening was just filled with meta references that were super awesome in that they actually address them. 100% gay, LOVE it. Awww Mike and Tina are SO cute. Poor Artie though :( So glad they covered how the breakup/hookup happened. I will never understand the Will rapping hate (he's SO hot doing it, wtf) but it's funny it was addressed on the show. "Know what does take some courage? Standing up and sitting about...instead of posting an anonymous column online, say what you have to say to my face." HELL YEAH.
Nationals in NYC!!! Okay I totally said that they should have Nationals in NYC as an excuse to get an episode shot in NYC. I BETTER be right on that last part too. Sue is actually true for the tryouts bit although I totally am on Will's side on general. I LOVE Will/Sue being friends, they are too cute in a hilarious way. LOVE the new football coach, perfect new enemy for Sue because let's face it, Will is not a worthy equal. Sue/Shannon is definitely a good slash ship for Sue, finally. Sad about losing Matt (although why can't he graduate? people GRADUATE in HS, thank god) but at least it fits with the new people plotline. Love Mercedes fanning Kurt at the thought of NYC.
Oh, Finn you try so hard with being all macho and it just doesn't work. Wow to the locker room anvil parallel which is JUST as gay if not more so when Finn's watching Sam and falling in love with his voice. Sadly Rachel's meeting with Sunshine was not quite so awesome. Seriously, Rachel? That was one of the most racist things I've seen on TV in awhile especially from a main character. I don't know whether to be more mad at Rachel or the writers because I think they went waaay too far there in this day and age. But it just made me want to see Sunshine CRUSH Rachel and take over her lead. Of course, Telephone made it all better, OMG GAGA. If the writers keep doing GaGa songs, I might forgive them for not putting enough GaGa songs in the GaGa episode. But yeah that was awesome and they were totally Beyonce and GaGa with more rivalry.
I LOVE Will and Sue being friends and getting along and am totally shipping it like WHOA. How are they so cute? It's a nice break from the hatesex dialogue. Love how well Beiste handled it, love her taking them down just as much as I love them pranking her. Asian camp lol, loved the kid getting the picture. Mostly HOT DAMN Mike has the hottest abs since Matt Morrison's Vogue shoot (which I have). I'm totally converted on the Mike/Tina ship. Poor Artie though, although at least Tina had good reasons (the ABS count). Would love to see Artie do football (like Kurt!). Also Sam is soooo pretty. Reminds me so much of Justin Taylor and he needs to be Kurt's boyfriend stat. Haha balls joke back at Puck! I ship that too. Big mouth, I can't even. I was iffy on Billionaire but Sam sings it SO MUCH better than the original. Such a pretty voice. And loved how all the boys got into it.
"Fashion has no gender." Sing it, Kurt. Glad Mercedes and Kurt provided a much needed perspective check, take down for Rachel. Operation Mean Girl! Hee. So horrible though, felt so bad for Beiste. Love Quinn's pitch for Cheerios, she sure knows how to sell it. LOVE Finn trying out, too funny. Becky is too funny as well, glad she's still around. Poor Finn though, I can see him trying even though I doubt it'd help. Not sure about the Santana thing although it is in character, I do feel bad for her while agreeing with Sue. Love Quinn being back in uniform! I do hope they change up her storyline from last year. LOVED the Quinn/Santana fight, too hot in an angrysex kindo way. Nice insults too. Also, totally Will/Quinn little hug there at the end cuteness. Aww Kurt trying to get over Finn is cute.
I love that Britney has a doll of herself and that she hugs it on the way out. That was just WAY too far and I'm so glad Will shut it down. Britney wanting to touch Beiste though is a hilarious, so her touch hee. So glad Sunshine got to audition. And wow she is GOOD. She definitely has the dramatic edge and man I wish she stuck around to try to dethrone Rachel. Loved all the kids cheering for her, suck it Rachel. Glad Will tried to patch it up with Beiste. Sad about Sam, hope he can get past the peer pressure issues like Finn. Also, CHEYENNE JACKSON!! So many cool theatre stories on this show. I hope they get Sunshine back though, I loved her. She's too cute. The Hello Kitty backpack was HILARIOUS. So many perfect little touches on this show. Finn/Rachel was cute, thank god he got her out of her denial.
Wish they had ended on an ensemble song but I guess that's what the opening number was for. I really hate when Glee piles on songs in the first half and then has no songs at the end, I don't think they get that the songs are the BEST part. After everything Rachel had done, I don't think she deserved an ending song but I did like the little clips of the other members of the club. Mike/Tina = still sooo cute. Hope we get more of their relationship. Maybe this will teach Santana a lesson in a more character growth way? Or not. Kurt spinning! Always the cutest.
Overall, I loved it! A bit all over the place but I liked how it allowed them to get a lot of characters involved. Needs MORE songs. Hopefully with less focus on the new characters next week, it'll happen for more of the original members. Mostly I'm just super happy my show is back with a new episode each week! If only it was every day, I'd always have a happiness pill. I love this show SO much! If I thought the honeymoon was over, I was definitely wrong cause I am almost in love as I was when we first met.
Just preparing for LA at the moment. I found the PERFECT job for me with TV and social media which I'm hoping I'll get although my hopes are low. Also watching more TV, liking Boardwalk Empire so far, How I Met Your Mother was meh with potential, liked Lone Star and Hawaii-Five O is SO not my thing (bored by the characters AND plot).
