The Office - Branch Wars Reaction Post
OMG LOVE!!! So good to see my show again. I absolutely loved the beginning of this episode and I got to see it again :D Don't get me started on my alarm clock not going off and the torrent being slow to come up but it made me love the show all the more. So here are some thoughts as who knows when I'll get to the episode otherwise. Things I love:
-Karen's back!!! It was nice to get to see the Utica branch.
-"Turns out it's a pretty easy gig when your boss isn't an idiot and your boyfriend's not in love with somebody else" Go Karen!
-Ferris Bueller's prank! I love that movie
-Michael's sad "What?" to Stanley's proclamation. Awwwwwww. And then the hand comes up! Hee.
-The clapping! Aww everyone is happy for him and the tone missing hehe.
-Hilarious black guy!! Stanley montage awwwwwww.
-Seeing Written by Mindy Kaling and Directed by Joss Whedon
-MONEY. Stanley I LOVE YOU!!!
-FINER THINGS CLUB OMG. Best. Idea. Ever. I mean, the hats and outfits!!! And the food and art and books :D
- "Besides having sex with men, I would say the Finer Things Club is the gayest thing about me." Best. Line. Ever. I kept laughing at this after I saw it last weekend. Not only is it point blank about Oscar's sexuality but it's hilarious.
-Michael tries to sell Toby! "I can't do it, Toby is the worst." Muahahaha.
-Oooooh. Karen, how are you so awesome? Oh yeah, you got rid of Jim.
-"Do you like magic?" and Michael's three wishes! Awww. And Pam's laugh hee.
-"We are going to prove- what the hell is that music?" How Arrested Development awesome is that?
-Michael seeing Toby with the teacups and bow tie OMG!! "That's why people are leaving!...I have no words." LMAO. Oh Toby hate. Too funny to exist.
-Utica! Utica! Utica! Bombs that are badass! And mustaches! And Jim in Madge's shirt because he's a girl hahaha.
-Dwight peeing, oh god no lol. "You're making me spray" Haha.
-Oh Andy, trying to be part of the cool group. "The party planning comittee is my backup and Kevin's band is my safety." Comparing it to college admissions is always a plus for me.
-Kevin and Phyllis messing with the Finer Things Club lol. And I love how intellectual they all are trying to be.
-Andy missing Stanley as an uncle! Is Remus a Harry Potter reference?
-One of my few negatives with the episode is I REALLY think they should have shown the Michael and Dwight inside Utica.
-"Just climb on top of her and think about Stanley" LOL
-"Promise me something...host the Dundies" Awwwwwwwww DUNDIES mention. ILU MINDY!
-Ouch Karen discovers him. "...in a ladies warehouse uniform, felt pretty good." Niice.
-"At least we care enough about our employees that we are willing to fight for them. And if you so much as harm a hair on Stanley's head, we will burn you to the ground" Awww overprotective Michael.
-"Trying to quit though" That totally reminded me of "I wish I knew how to quit you" haha
-Awkward with Jim and Karen. But they needed to have a scene together and get it out in the open. And yet Jim still runs away. Good to know they're sticking with his current character.
-Awww Michael with the memories :( And in the ground :( He loves his family.
-"Is he some sort of secret genius?" LOL "Sometimes I say crazy things." I am SO thankful Stanley never planned to leave! He does love this place, I know.
-OMG the outfits! They made the episode, for realsies.
-But yeah, I LOVE how Jim didn't read it and Oscar and Toby quiz him haha.
What I really love about this episode is how it shows that Pam is continuing to not only refine her artistic talent (see last episode) but grow in terms of knowledge and community. That she's not letting Jim hold her back or rule her life but is being her own person. Yay Pam! And Jim is still in the same place, doing pranks and not moving forward. I really loved how he didn't read the book and proved he didn't really belong there to begin with. It's really good to see that their relationship isn't just happy and fluffy and actually has depth again.
I love my show.

That she's not letting Jim hold her back or rule or life but is being her own person.
I think that's my favorite thing about this show - that even though Pam got her dream boyfriend, she's not compromising anything for him. And that they're not afraid to show her growing while Jim is still the same guy he's always been. Him not reading the book was perfect for that. Oh, this show.

Oh man, word. I think that's a really good way to create tension without doing the on again, off again thing, which is unimaginative and lame. The clash between Actual Girlfriend Pam and Masturbatory Fantasy Pam is weird for Jim, and he doesn't always like it. I love that about my show -- that this time, Pam's her own (rockin') person, and Jim can just deal.

God, yes. It's just such a relief to see something that's NOT on again, off again, and the fact that it's a realistic plot is just even better. Jim left and, you know, traditionally HE would have been the one who changed. Instead he came back thinking everything would be pretty similar to how he left it and it WASN'T. But he still was. And now he and Pam are just trying to work through that without really acknowledging it. Oh, SHOW. <3 <3 <3

(Ahem. Um, sorry. I have other thoughts. Thinky thoughts. Thinky thoughts that are not one character's name in capslock. But I can't remember them. Because: KAREN.)

From Wiki: Uncle Remus is a fictional character, the title character and narrator of a collection of black folktales.
You probably know them as Disney's "Song of the South" - the movie of Br'er Rabbit and Zippity Doo Da fame. (If you were a Disney kid that is).
I love my "other" show too :D

Ahh right. I had never seen it.

OMG, I didn't think of that last night but you are SO right. Hee. Oh, Arrested Development. I miss you. If only Michael had ended the episode, after Stanley came back, by saying "Well, that was a freebie."
