I...I have no words

My reaction to last night's Office: OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG.

This morning's reaction to last night's Office: OMGOMGOMG.

Where do I even begin? Oh, Michael. I love Michael the most and this was the most heartbreaking episode of all time for him. The show brings EVERYTHING OUT IN THE OPEN. I am amazed. Business!Jan comes back! I missed her and I finally loved her again for realsies. I love how they cover the entire Michael/Jan relationship from the first time they met and shook hands (6 years and 2 months), from the first time they kissed to the first time they kissed sober (!!), Sandals (6 times! notice the repeating 6), Cocktails and all the way up to The Job and presently. Bringing out the picture that I thought was lost from Sandals is WOW, secret genius show anyone? Bringing out the PICTURE FRAMED contract is even better. Bringing out THE DIARY? Holy SHIT. And it makes perfect sense for Michael but it is the most personal thing in the world to Michael and to show that to everyone really is betrayal. I can understand why Jan did it in wanting to win at all costs, money issues aside this goes all the way back to The Job. But WOW. Notice that Michael still defends Jan even after that. And they say I love you but in a completely un-cliche way which I just loved. And then they bring out the PERFORMANCE REVIEW where Jan finally speaks the truth. But what a blow to Michael (TWSS). And then Jan brings out how Michael was never considered from The Job :( Poor Michael gets hurt by both sides :( And in the end Michael has to choose Dunder-Mifflin because the pattern they treated him with was always with respect while Jan has not treated him that way in terms of pattern and it's only recently that she's been much better to him. Oh, Michael.

Other OMG things: TWSS!! I said it right with him because how perfect it was? And it was hilarious how no one understood it (except Jan and Toby). And TOBY HATE! Wow. When Michael said he'd never be on his side. And then TOBY GETTING MICHAEL'S DIARY!! Everyone :( Must be one of the worst days for Michael. The cafeteria scene killed me dead with sadness. Ryan gettng it too and everyone and him having to sit with Toby and having to ASK. Holy shit. This must be a really bad middle school flashback for him. And if there's one thing I like better than Toby hate, it's Toby love. When he treats Michael nicely, when they can have a real conversation (see Take Your Daughter to Work Day) then it is just the sweetest thing for me. But Toby's love comment was just too much to take so knocking his tray off the table was perfect. And then RYAN! That Michael thinks he's as hot as Jan (in a different way!) finally comes out. Which fits so well because it isn't just about what they look like but that Michael is attracted to their business focus, ambition and professionalism and how smart they are. Someone mentioned on my Flist that M/J is best when they focus on heart vs. head and I entirely agree with that which is why this episode was so good. And the last David Wallace and Michael scene was so sweet because in the end Michael loves Dunder-Mifflin and they have been kind of him overall.

I also loved the ping pong plot but it seemed so small compared to EVERYTHING COMING OUT IN THE OPEN FOR MICHAEL that it was hard to pay attention to. I looove Kelly and it was nice to see her back and Pam was awesome. Dwight helping Jim instead of Jim playing a prank was also refreshing to see. Dwight vs. Mose was the best ending ever for this episode. No words, just silence. Because really, what else can you say about this episode? They really outdid themselves here. Sometimes their is no need for comedy when the drama overwhelms it. I LOVED this episode if you couldn't tell and am amazed at how GOOD this show is.

Lester Lewis, welcome to The Office family! I salute you, new writer. That was amazing. How am I going to live without this show? I really don't know. Ugly Betty (Marc, how are you so awesome and hilarious?) and Scrubs were both wonderful too but it's hard for me to concentrate on them when I have my show airing and being insanely too good. If they intended to BLOW MY MIND in order to get me to forget that this is the last episode for who knows how long then they certainly did their jobs. And now I wish this strike wold be over and the writers could get all the money they deserve (times infinity) because I love TV so much and all the things it can do. It's art, it's entertainment, it's love.

Dwight/Mose playing ping pong at the end slayed me! lol.

I know! It was just the perfect end. And I love them so much :)

1.) I love your default icon and am snagging it.

2.) I tried to write about TO last night, and I have read a few posts about it today, but your take on it is the best that I have read. And you gave insight into things I hadn't even considered, like that "ILY" was totally not cliche, and Michael being attracted to Jan/Ryan for their business sense, too, and the pattern thing.

I don't know what I am going to do without TO, either. And I totally agree, Lester Lewis, you rock!

Isn't it a thing of beauty? Steve is way too hot to exist (but thank god he does!).

Thanks, it's good to hear that! I love how smart this show is, it makes it so interesting to think about.

Hopefully we won't have long to wait! Lester Lewis is awesome just like when Justin Spitzer wrote that fabulous M/J scene in his first Office episode.

I almost can't believe a new guy wrote this. Very, very impressive.

Woah, this was a new writer? Best episode of the season! Kudos to him!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
I know! I had low expectations coming in but this blew them out of the water. It's good to get new talent coming in especially in terms of writing M/J :)

I loved how good The Office was last night. It was bittersweet, though, realizing it's the last one for awhile :(

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
I know :( I'm hoping for the best because the next one is supposed to be the funniest one. At least they went out on a good note though.

[identity profile] noncanontv-girl.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
It really did, didn't it? :) Nice icon. Dwight was totally back to 100% awesome Thurs!

P.S. That scene where they were reading Michael's diary, and Toby's reaction when it got to the part about Ryan being hot? CLASSIC! :) Score 1 for Toby!!!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-11-19 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
I know!! I totally laughed. Toby needs a bit of revenge here and there.

[identity profile] lianri.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
I can only agree! Geez, I thought this season wasn't so great and when they finally pull out the great stuff (. . . . ) it has to stop. :(

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I know! It sucks. And I hear even more good episodes were coming...

[identity profile] lianri.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Gah, you didn't take the bait!!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oops, sorry. THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!

[identity profile] trustingno1.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
OH. MY. GOD. The download was taking forever, and I wasn't sure if it was going to be worth it but OMFG. It's like - like they took Jan and fixed her because she was so awesome and I've missed her being awesome so very very much and the "I love you" was just hfjkaslhfjkdsl.

(I can speak in proper sentences, I swear).

I loved Michael SO MUCH in this episode. From the post-its onwards. God.

Also, Mindy is so.freaking.hilarious.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
The Office is ALWAYS worth it. Always. But YES. Jan was so much better and everything about it was pretty much random words to me so I totally understand. And Michael really was at his lovable best here. God, I love him. Kelly/Mindy is always funny! I adore her.

[identity profile] xphilehb.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with everything you say about TO. Your thoughts are so coherent, whereas mine are not. Oh show, you kill me dead. I am going to miss you so, so much. This show is so amazing I don't have words. So amazing.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Well it's hard to be coherent after you've first seen that episode. My mouth was pretty much open in shock the entire time, it combusts your brain with the good. I'm going to miss it too. What's a Thursday without The Office?
