End of the Year Fandom Meme

What fandoms did you acquire in 2007?
THE OFFICE
The Wire
Ugly Betty
Project Runway
Pushing Daisies
Friday Night Lights
House
Heroes
Due South
Gilmore Girls
Scrubs
How I Met Your Mother
Torchwood
Stargate Atlantis
Wonderfalls
30 Rock
Dexter
The Office UK

It was a good year on the acquiring new fandom front.

What fandoms did you let go of in 2007?
None really but Prison Break is on hiatus (better to watch in a row) and I'm going to try to give Gossip Girl and Private Practice another chance.

What fandoms did you mean to get into but didn't in 2007? Why?
Farscape (the beginning is a bit episodic and slow for me but I'm trying again!), Gossip Girls, Private Practice, Journeyman (bored by the characters and plots mostly), Life (too episodic at times but I'm trying again), The X-Files (will get to that later b/c of time/motivation) and Viva Laughlin (canceled and badness).

What fandoms do you intend on checking out in 2008?
Farscape (it WILL get done, I swear to god)
Carnivale
Sports Night
Mad Men
Rome
Charlie Jade
The X-Files
Deadwood
Alias
SG-1
Six Feet Under
Will and Grace
The Sopranos
24
Extras
The West Wing
Family Guy
Sex in the City
Frasier
Oz
Boston Public

Catch up: Entourage, Lost, Smallville, Highlander, Psych, The OC

What fandoms do you think you might let go of in 2008 unless things significantly improve?
All of my fandoms are in good shape at the moment, I think. Except for a few new shows (Gossip Girls, Private Practice and Life)

What fandoms do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?
The Office although I doubt it could ever be crappy. I trust the writers. But all of my shows (except for the new ones) aren't in danger of this. I love the characters too much to ever leave them (see Grey's)

What show impressed you most in 2007?
THE OFFICE (still perfect IMO)
The Wire times infinity (BEST SHOW ON TV)
Project Runway (who knew reality tv shows could actually be good?)
Pushing Daisies (the charm never runs out, best new show)

What show impressed you least in 2007?
Heroes S2
Grey's Anatomy S3
Veronica Mars S3 (except for the very end)

It was definitely The Year of The Office here. Thank god for finding my new favorite fandom and show!

Hahaha, 24. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the first two seasons. S2 is my personal favorite, such an amazing season of television. I'm getting all starry eyed thinking about it. S3-5 aren't bad, but S6. Oh boy. S6 is a complete disaster that Jack Bauer couldn't even save. He should hang whoever is responsible for last season by the thumbs so s/he/the typing monkey can never write again!

Word on The Office being the most impressive. Man I love me some petty behavior and zero productivity.

Yeah I heard the first seasons are the best (as they usually are) but have heard horrible stuff about that last season. We'll see how far I get. Same goes for The X-Files there. But you know, Jack Baur. Fictional and overqualified ;)

It doesn't get much better than that! The show always manages me to impress me, I'm glad you feel the same :)

*grins* Dwight recognizes God when he sees Him, since Jack Bauer is definitely a Deity of Higher Being. He is so crafty and versatile he would be like, Dwight's veritable Swiss Army Knife of office protection. I would want him as my Go-To Guy as well!

The Office makes me gush like no fandom prior. I can watch episodes repeatedly without tiring of them, but I am seriously going through new content withdrawals. D:

Well I definitely trust Dwight's opinion which is one of the reasons its on my list. As well as Alias.

Same here! I have never rewatched episodes so much and fallen so in love like I did this show. I miss new episodes too! And the next one sounds sooo good, maybe a classic. It's not as bad as the March hiatus but it's right up there with missing my show incredibly much. I'm about due for a full series rewatch actually.

Yes, I agree. You MUST watch Six Feet Under, Rome, 24, Deadwood, The X-Files and Sex and the City. Those are some of my favourite shows!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I definitely will. They're high on my list. Have to get a lot of these critically acclaimed (and some fannishly acclaimed) ones done this year. I hope I find some great new fandoms!

Oh I hope you do try out Life again. I really love that show. There's nothing all that exemplary or outstanding about it (not exactly an endorsement, i know), but it's super funny, the leads are extremely likable, the (platonic) relationship between the leads is wonderful, the actors are great, and it feels wonderfully comfortable. Like I've been watching it for years (which I think is a plus). It's just good.

Gilmore Girls if a new find for you? Isn't it wonderful?! I freaking love that show. The dialogue-- oh the dialogue!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I will! I did like it and a bunch of people on my Flist are supporting it and there are vids...well I'm easy there. My only problem with it is the cop/episodic/procedural aspect of it really bores me and doesn't help much with keeping me watching it. I've seen two or three episodes and that was what I didn't like. I *love* the documentary and season arc though so I'm going to keep watching for that and with the hope I'll learn to love the characters more.

I started watching in December/January and quickly grew addicted. It's adorable! I'm rewatching now and it's just as good. The dialogue definitely makes it worth it and I adore Lorelai and Rory to pieces.

Ya know, I find myself forgetting that it's a fairly traditional procedural.

Man, I've got start up with GG again.
