Alias again...getting addicted to shows is what fandom's all about
EEEEEEEEE. That was AMAZING!!! I am such a wreck right now in the happiest of squeeful and ecstatic ways. God, where to begin. IRINA'S BACK!!!! :D :D :D She came home! OMG she is so awesome, there are no words. The birth went down *exactly* the way it should. Perfect family!! I am so glad both Jack and Irina were there, the way it was meant to be. I am not a fan of pregnancy plots but this one was perfect. I was SO HAPPY at the birth, it was an overload of awesome and Irina's delivered her OMG and Jack held her hand and awwwwwwwwww it was the cutest thing in the entire world.
Okay, let's back up. First, Irina's back, YAY! I swear, she is the most beautiful woman on this planet and Lena's acting combined with the writing take her above the level of pure awesome to makes her a goddess. Who wouldn't be intoxicated? She has the best walks in from The Enemy Walks In to Search and Rescue (*SQUEE* we'll get to that later) to this episode. Her shoes are just perfect and she's just above all of those mere mortals. And her voice is so uniquely beautiful. "My husband" *squee* I love that she still thinks of him like that. And then Irina in SYDNEY'S HOUSE!! Eeee. And smiles and a HUG! My own smile is beaming so much right now, they fill me with happiness. "I'm here now, everything's going to be fine" Awwwwww. I don't care if she's partly playing the mother angle because her love is TRUE. And Sydney! "There's no one else I wanted to do this with" Awwww. "How's Jack?" Is it sad that even that makes me squee? I love my SpyRents.
Just when I think it couldn't get any better...Jack comes to see them!! My SpyFamily all under one roof, at home equals pure bliss. "Jack...You look...
And then they sit together, fake once again but always real underneath. Grandchild's trust fund! Dissing the clown she married and saying she's an angel! Hee, I adore them all in their fake family ways. I love all the touching sooo much. Cheek kissing and arm linking and hand underneath the jacket touching and cheek touching, oh yes :D "The two of you will be as happy as your father and I am" Love the subtle diss of fake!husband there lol. And there's the scene from my icon!! Muahaha I had no idea (I thought it was a promo pic! hee) but I love it. "It's a parent's job to take care of their children" Awwww they are so cute. This is why they work so well as a family no matter who's not being entirely honest because they do care and at least half mean the things they say. At least the fantasy of it is alive. Oh the smiles and family secrets and "your grandchild keeps kicking me" love. "I'm sure she'll be a good parent to her child...she has such lovely role models" LOL. Yeah, right. He has no idea. She at least has role models on how not to be the opposite hehe.
Then there's proof of that! Gah, love the betrayal fight and how Jack saw her coming. Awww poor Sydney. "I am your mother" awwww. Oh, Jack. Haven't you learned your lesson about NOT killing Irena? He does get caught up in his emotions when it comes to her so well. Thank god for the baby that knows how to break up family fights! I love how they band together against the new threat. "A beacon..it's in my bra" *Jack pulls out* Eeeee how can they be so hot and awesome? Irina is way too good. I love them even when they're fighting. Oh, SpyFam. Mmm Jack taking off his jacket and killing the *bad* guys. Truth Takes Time callback YAY! "You'd like it to be simple...it's never simple" YES. That right there is Irina and why Jack and Sydney have such issues with her. They want it to be a simple, she loves us therefore she would never betray us and if she does then it means she doesn't love us and is bad. And it's not like that! She *does* love them and she is both good AND bad. You can have both. In this family, trust is not always about love. That's what makes it interesting (and fun), About Vaughn...well I never believed he was dead (and he isn't!) and I'm iffy about whether she would kill him or not but in the end the one thing I know is she would NEVER willingly kill Jack and Sydney. I think her love for them is sometimes her number two priority which leads to the betrayals and I'm okay with that for the most part. It's who she is.
Then there was one of the best mother-daughter interactions ever. Irina giving Sydney advice! Awww memories discussion. "You were simply a means to an end...And then when then doctor put you in my arms and I looked at you. So fragile. All I could think is, how could I have made such a terrible mistake. And at that moment, I was sure of one thing: I couldn't be an agent and a mother...I chose to fail at being a mother." *cries* Oh, Irina :( She breaks my heart, doing what she believes she has to do with all that love that's there. And then she comes back for Sydney! "The only reason I saved the baby was because you're my daughter" YES! I knew it. All about the love. Gah, I love her mother helping her and then her dad comes :D How is Jack so perfect? It's just so right for her to be there with her parents. And I have to say, I'm glad Vaughn isn't there, that it's just them. "Sydney, you have a baby girl" Awwwwww :D I don't think I've ever been this happy to see a baby in my life (not a baby person here). What this SpyFamily does to me...Oh, Irina. But of course she helps them in the end! "We'll find her" They always find their way back to each other ;) "She's so beautiful" Awwww Jack and his smiles. "Would you like to hold your granddaughter?...Yes I would" *SQUEE* The smiling and family cuteness slays me to pieces. They are heaven.
Okay so, season five. The beginning was a big disappointment and made me really think they jumped the shark. I don't even really like Vaughn and Syd/Vaughn and I still thought it was an unacceptable move. And I still find all the new characters to be meh and boring. But around the 6th episode, the show started to find it's plot again and get exciting which I had been missing. Plus having SUPER cute SpyDaddy-daughter moments make up for any boring episode. My favorites were Sydney asking Jack to come to the hospital with her and Jack willing to do anything for her because he's ALWAYS there for her. And then Jack helping her setup the crib was wonderful! They are too cute for words. Also I loved how Jack setup the "operational meeting" and then shot the guy. How is he so awesome? The CIA mission was so much fun too. I love when they ramp up the suspense. I also really like Sloane being a double agent, very circular to S1 and understandable with his daughter on the line. I miss Weiss a lot and I never thought I'd say this but I miss Vaughn. It just doesn't feel right without him there.
Season four was much more enjoyable with the ensemble *team* of it even though the beginning-middle was a bit boring as well for me. But Nadia brought lots of good family stuff to the surface and I did adore the episode with Irina's books and Jack's love "forever and a day". That's my new favorite expression. The first episode was really WTF because I never could buy Irina actually being dead and that she'd actually try to kill her daughter (never). But then they brought out twists and fake things and deception and it was much more fun. The ending episodes finally brought back the glory that was Alias S2.
Mirage COMPLETELY blew me away. *That* scene was so emotional and so real in all it's fake setting that it took my breath away. It was good to see Jack in his old life, in their old house. A fantasy come to life...It broke me with Jack being sick and his doctor hallucinations with the most important people, Sydney and Laura and "Tell my girls I love them." Oh, Jack. And then they went *there* with all the potential incest in Sydney pretending to be Laura and it was amazing. What killed me the most was when Jack couldn't believe how perfect she was. It was there when I finally got to see a time when he believed in her truly and had so much complete trust and love in her. God, they break my heart. And the hand hold/kiss and his revelation that he wanted to quit for Sydney was so touching. Oh my beautiful family. In My Dreams was another lesson in how Sloane and Emily break my heart SO MUCH OMG. I can't take their heartbreak, it leaves me whimpering. Such a Truth Takes Time type episode.
And then there was Search and Rescue, the episode I had been waiting for two seasons to get to. Wow, did it ever live up to that. The opening scene was a dream come true and no, I still don't care that it's fake!Irina. Jack in a tuxedo and Irina in a beautiful dress, meeting together in a otherworldly setting (reminded me of Titanic actually) to dance and kiss is what perfection is made of. It just ascended my squee onto a higher level of pure bliss. Mmm idle banter and drinking. I had been icon spoilered by the dance but it was beyond my expectations. I love how she holds his hand smiling, the way he pulls her closer, the way she laughs, the *rightness* of it all. Victor and Lena have SO MUCH chemistry that it's like a magnetic forcefield, it's so *real* everything that is between them. I love to hear Jack's voice breaking on "good to know" and their smiles and how he can't help but have that last perfect moment with her complete with the most wonderful kissing that lets me forgive them for never showing enough of it. It's just so sweet and gentle and yet full of love. I can watch that scene over and over again with all the pretty and meant to be rightness of it all. Sometimes all my dreams really do come true *happy sigh* Poor Jack though. He's still so hurt by her betrayal "lifetimes" ago that he still can actually believe she would kill Sydney and a part of him I think still wants revenge from that. So much emotion there.
He definitely deserved the punch. It was amazing to see Sydney rescue her mother though. I do love that Jack admits he regretted killing her everyday and that in the end it helps to balance them out in terms of betrayal. "Of all the things you've done, that's what you're going to apologize for?" *smiles* LOVE! They are so perfect for each other through it all. And then Jack letting her go and getting a last kiss was wonderful. My favorite Jack line so far though has to be "I don't read e-vites" *love* He's too cute. Oh and I find it interesting that Lauren's name is so clearly a play off of Laura which works so well in the Jack/Irina parallel.
My perfect ending for the show? I know this will never happen but it's what I would do if I was TPTB. Somehow Irina's actions are explained and she decides to take down Prophet 5 because of Sydney and Jack and for this, she gets a pardon from the government. Jack and Irina get an amazing romantic moment with real dancing and kissing and makeup sex and reaffirm their marriage vows to each other. They buy a house together (by the beach of course) and start their own spy agency type thing with all of Jack's guns and money storage resources and both of their contacts combined. And then they go on missions together and kick ass, sometimes with Sydney when she's free/when she wants to and then they come home and are a *real* family this time. With family dinners and sitting around watching movies or playing games or whatever they want to do. My ideal ending shot would be the three of them walking together about to take on another mission and you see their backs as the shot zooms out on the paradise they're in, with each other on a spy mission being awesome. Because they're the Best. Family. Ever. And they lived happily ever after, The End. Mmmm I'm an idealistic at heart.
So as I am about to descend into the rest of S5 that I am quite doomed for, I want to freeze in time this moment of blissful love for the SpyFamily and the SpyRents. No matter what, it can't take away how much I love them and how much I believe in their love. As Jack says, "I choose to believe." And I'll love them for forever and a day.

I am! It's nice sometimes not knowing. Ignorance is bliss can be true. Now I get how pretty they really are!
