A year late but here are all my panel and vidshow review notes from Vividcon 2008 (although a few pages are missing, that's why I used a notebook this year):

Music Theory and Comp.

How to Reinvent Yourself
-technical evolution: know what can do with it, stubborn, premiere vs. after effects
-don't get intimidated by new equipment, break it into pieces
-try different effects one by one
-work on after effects tutorial, then learn how it applies to vidding, improves creativity
-trash video, play everything (sandbox)
-can tell new stories with new equipment
-"shiny new stuff" different music (Club Vivid), recontextualize, use outside source
-dont get vids, dont connect, take time
-more and more vids, cool and different, lots of ripples-> used to take longer to spread new technique ex. Language
-needs to shake vidding world, push evolution vs. make vid that makes you happy
-don't need bells + whistles
-incestuous communities dont learn other ways to do things
-melting pot of vids/coming to con
-why so focused on not making the same thing
-organic, not forced, doesnt have to be groundbreaking
-cant rush growth, dont have to change everything at once
-everyone has learning curve
-dont delete first vid, piece of them, can see approach

Town Hall

-general public considered strengths differently than Lum did

-pretty, vidded to book
-enjoyed, issues w/movies b/c book, all good stuff from movie (leaves vid?)

It's been a year so this con report is about as much as I can remember from last year. Damn procrastination perfectionism!
On Thursday I remember working out briefly with![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
counteragent and running on the street earlier to let out my emotions. I met my roommate, talitha78 and we had a great conversation about shows she should watch. I had dinner with deejay, Kandy Fong, Linda T and someone else I'm forgetting where they told stories about what VCR vidding, cons, Star Trek and creators and other topics that was really interesting to hear.
On Friday it was fun meeting people in the morning (no way I'll remember everyone), seeing the great Color panel and actually wearing a dress for the first time in forever for Club Vivid. Super fun dancing to all the vids including Cobrastyle bring super Lex sexiness and Superstar which I had always imagined dancing to in the chorus. I think the Doctor Who party was after that and it was especially fun talking tokuwdora and butterfly.
On Saturday, I remember arriving early to wait for Premieres withbradcpu, obsessive24, millylicious, buffyann, laurashapiro, jarrow and many more. The Premieres show blew my mind and made me cry after Scrapbook of My Life/Strength in You and at the end with Supersmart because YES that is us being super awesome. Lots of squeeing about the vids and telling the vidders how much I loved them after that. Totally freaking out about karaoking Superstar and shaking so bad but doing it and being brave and doing the best I could with it. I think then I went to the Slings & Arrows party (I may be mixing days up here) and got fully pimped into watching the show (and falling in love) with it.
Sunday, I remember lots of good vids coming out in the Challenge show and sitting around in the hotel lobby withqueenzulu, veredus, elz, deejay, axiom_of_stripe and others I'm forgetting talking fanfic, vids and spending an hour or more analyzing White America which was SO MUCH FUN. Good times.
Monday was sad goodbyes and left late morning or so.
This is what my perfectionist self wants! No need to type up long posts if you don't remember anything. I defeated perfectionist self this year though thankfully. Vivdcon 2008 was definitely lots of fun.

It's been a year so this con report is about as much as I can remember from last year. Damn procrastination perfectionism!
On Thursday I remember working out briefly with
counteragent and running on the street earlier to let out my emotions. I met my roommate, talitha78 and we had a great conversation about shows she should watch. I had dinner with deejay, Kandy Fong, Linda T and someone else I'm forgetting where they told stories about what VCR vidding, cons, Star Trek and creators and other topics that was really interesting to hear. On Friday it was fun meeting people in the morning (no way I'll remember everyone), seeing the great Color panel and actually wearing a dress for the first time in forever for Club Vivid. Super fun dancing to all the vids including Cobrastyle bring super Lex sexiness and Superstar which I had always imagined dancing to in the chorus. I think the Doctor Who party was after that and it was especially fun talking to
kuwdora and butterfly.On Saturday, I remember arriving early to wait for Premieres with
bradcpu, obsessive24, millylicious, buffyann, laurashapiro, jarrow and many more. The Premieres show blew my mind and made me cry after Scrapbook of My Life/Strength in You and at the end with Supersmart because YES that is us being super awesome. Lots of squeeing about the vids and telling the vidders how much I loved them after that. Totally freaking out about karaoking Superstar and shaking so bad but doing it and being brave and doing the best I could with it. I think then I went to the Slings & Arrows party (I may be mixing days up here) and got fully pimped into watching the show (and falling in love) with it.Sunday, I remember lots of good vids coming out in the Challenge show and sitting around in the hotel lobby with
queenzulu, veredus, elz, deejay, axiom_of_stripe and others I'm forgetting talking fanfic, vids and spending an hour or more analyzing White America which was SO MUCH FUN. Good times.Monday was sad goodbyes and left late morning or so.
This is what my perfectionist self wants! No need to type up long posts if you don't remember anything. I defeated perfectionist self this year though thankfully. Vivdcon 2008 was definitely lots of fun.
