End of the Year Vidding Meme 2012
So I did say I was going to do this and I meant it. First time I'm doing this meme! Hopefully it'll be annual after this.
January:
Can I Get Get Get (2 Broke Girls)
Something To Go On (Top Chef)
February:
Hero (The Social Network)
April:
Like a G6 (Breaking Bad)
May:
Dead and Gone (Game of Thrones)
June:
Forever Yours (House M.D)
October:
What Makes You Beautiful (Once Upon a Time)
Who I Am (Homeland)
November:
True Love (Once Upon a Time)
December:
There Are Worse Things I Could Do (Once Upon a Time)
Halfway Through The Wood (Once Upon a Time)
My favourite video this year (of my own):
Dead and Gone. I poured my heart into that vid and it was a relatively easy vidding process since I was completely in love with Arya at the time. It came out very closely to how I envisioned it (future season footage aside) and it still makes me cry so I love it. Plus it's in my new favorite fandom.
My least favourite video this year:
Halfway Through the Wood. Trailers aren't really my thing and this was a basic effort at one. I think dialogue and going slower would probably help if I try again. It was haaaard to make.
Most successful video
Dead and Gone. Popular fandom + popular character is not too surprising but I was very happy with how it worked for both me and others.
Video most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Probably There Are Worse Things I Could Do and True Love but I expected it since I posted them so closely to Festivids because of the delay in reveals for the exchange. I just needed to get them posted so I can do this meme, heh.
Most fun video:
Forever Yours because OTP SLASH OMG SO GAY. Also What Makes You Beautiful was a LOT of fun to make. Basically I have a lot of fun when I vid my intense shipper feels.
Video with single sexiest moment:
True Love with Regina being made of sex and all. Particularly that coffee shop scene omg.
Biggest vid fail:
Not finishing a couple vids I wanted to make especially time sensitive ones. In a vid specifically, not having the time to do more/better effects for Forever Yours.
Hardest video to make:
Forever Yours for the INSANE AMOUNTS OF CLIPPING and the lack of time with rushing to make VVC Premieres deadline. Halfway Through the Wood in terms of trying something different and trying to get it to work.
Most unintentionally telling video:
Dead and Gone.
For 2013:
Finish a couple of vids I LOVE but didn't have the time to finish last year. A couple of them are artistic stretches for me so I really want to get them done. Also finish all giftvids so I can do VVC Auction (save your money cause my list is going to be LONG). I have a couple of intense clipping projects so my other goal is to start those early so I don't go through hell clipping. I also want to try clipping faster sometimes and just learn new things, take my vidding to the next level and all that. I want to get better at commenting more and continue to participate in the wonderful vidding community while finding balance in my life to work on other goals.
Last Saturday was Festivids Go Live! I got a Homeland vid!!! Breathing Underwater is a S1 vid about Carrie and Brody, their similarities and issues and journey together. It gave me SO MANY FEELS and the song choice is just perfect for exploring their emotional struggles together. I loved the use of POVs and the kinetic energy throughout. It made my Festivids so amazing to get such a great vid :D
I'll have a recs list at some point but for now here's my favorite vid besides my own that blew me away: Smoke and Mirrors. It's a Mad Men vid that explores so many of the deeper themes of the show and is just brilliant in the deeper things it says. The song choice is perfect, it gives me ALL THE FEELS and it's just the vid I wish I could make. When I'm clapping and cheering and HOLY SHITTING at the end of it, you know you've won me over.
If you haven't seen any of the Festivids (or just a few), be sure to check out the masterlist and see and comment on all the vids! There's over 100 small fandoms represented there and the vids are awesome!
