Supernatural Ramblings
I cannot believe I'm writing a post at 7 AM in the morning (I can assure you that I did not wake up at this ungodly hour) but since its Supernatural that's keeping me up, I figured I'd talk about it.
So yes, the show is my new obsession and I love it. I never thought I would and I avoided it all season even when my Flist was buzzing about it. For one, I'm not into horror and I'm still not into that aspect of the show but I don't mind it as most of the stories are written decently. And yes, do scare the shit out of me every so often. But mostly I just close my eyes when I just can't take the anticipation of the moment. The other reason was I don't think Jared Padalecki is very attractive (yes I'm shallow) and I was kind of meh about Jenson after seeing him on Smallville. But I take that back now because I am officially a DeanGirl and I think he is extremely sexy, interesting and oh so lovable. I love the Dean and Sam relationship, it's so very deep and interesting and yes, hot because I love the wincest as much as I love the brotherly love. Here is where I point out that I love *love* in all its shapes and forms and that I think in the best relationships, there can be an aspect of every kind of love. So I love exploring everything about it and I'm openminded in seeing all possibilities. What I love about them is because of their childhood, no one can really understand who they are except each other, they have such a special bond. I also love that there are so many layers in their relationship, in their family and in their characters.
I enjoyed the first half of the season but during the second is when I really started connecting to the characters and the relationships, especially when their father showed up. I love the dynamics he brings to the family and how that changes to the end of the season. Dean's changing alliance to Sam and yet his longing for his family to be together and not fighting gets to me so much with that cabin scene in Death Trap being heartbreaking. And then there's Something Wicked which was one of my favorite episodes only because of the little Dean flashbacks which totally kill me everytime. I completely feel for Dean over trying to get his father's approval and favoritism of Sammy by his father. As the older child, I can relate as my younger brother is always treated so specially by my family over his music, sports, art and physical talents (and yes, I'm quite happy to not see him when I go across the country ie we do not have a Sam and Dean relationship). That being said, I also love the fun and confident side of Dean with his shifty morals and cute expressions. I now love Sam as well, he's interesting with his changes throughout the season. Plus, that scene in Hell House where he's half naked, is SO freaking hot. He does have a nice body, tall is good. The show reminds me of Smallville in a way, with the MotW being like the FotW (both I'm not fond of), the Clark/Lex relationship being like Sam/Dean but with Sam being waaay more likeable to me than Clark and although Dean isn't as good as Lex, I like the wincest relationship much more than clex. Thankfully, I think Supernatural is a lot better written. And I love the Impala (reminds me of Angel's car) and the older rock music on the show along with the lighting that gives the show its own look.
I didn't think that I'd be interested in vidding the show...that quickly changed. After watching the show, I started watching all the Supernatural vids that I have seen recced (because otherwise, I'd be watching hundreds) and loved them all. But there were still some things that I didn't see vidded a lot that I wanted to see so I wrote down a few ideas I'd like to vid if I could find a song. Then after reading an amazing fanfic, it reminded me of a song that I may possibility make a Dean vid to although I'm still wavering. And then I even got a crack vid idea. Both ideas I'm unsure of (need to see if I can find better songs) but I do hope to vid the show sometime in the future. At the moment, I keep wanting to go back and watch episodes of the show even when I should be marathoning other shows before VVC, but I keep wanting to see the earlier episodes now that I care even more about the Sam and Dean and their relationship. This show just makes me want to read a lot of meta and think and luckily there's a ton of good stuff out there for just that as well as great vidders with interesting ideas. Not to mention fanfic which I am just beginning to dabble in. And pie graphs and statistics on the number of dude, Sammy, etcs said which is just so geek!love. Man, I love my show.
In other news, I bought an external hard drive as I am severely lacking in space and I need lots of episodes in order to vid. I got a good price on a 320 GB one and it works wonderfully so far. I've transferred all my Whose Line episodes onto there freeing a ton of laptop space and am in the process of transferring all my Buffy and Angel episodes onto it as well. Then I'll rip all my DVDs to keep them on there. Also, Doctor Who won in my latest poll so I'm watching that currently and loving it. The Doctor is really great, I love how he's so enthusiastic and fun and crazy while still caring so much about Rose and his past, those little emotion peaks are great to watch. The whole time traveling aspect is very fun to watch as well and its a very visually cool show. Jack also just showed up and he is already very captivating and good eye candy. Watched a bit of SGA and BSG as well and enjoyed those too, Rodney is the cuteness and Starbook and Apollo (HOT!) are soo awesome. I have to say, the BSG miniseries did a great job of sucking me into the whole Humans vs. Cylons story.
Anyways I've got to go to bed now and try to stop going to bed so late in the next few days. It's hard to stop, I just get so into things (especially vids) and can't pull myself away and since I can sleep all day, there's not much to stop me. But I do need to go to bed earlier so I can get some sleep at Vividcon which OMG 3 days! *squee* Will post about that later.
