Nominate Fandom's Hottest Characters. Choose three of your hottest characters of all time. For the record, this is impossible for me to have any kind of rankings but I chose Brian Kinney (that was easy actually), Stringer Bell and Irina Derevko. I was trying to go based on hot rather than favorite/cute/sexy/most awesome (although my nominees all qualify there too).

The Organization For Transformative Works (of which I am a member :))is hosting an online con full of fannish celebration at [livejournal.com profile] otw_onlinecon in honor of being one year old with challenges, panels, events and more. Go check it out!

[livejournal.com profile] trollprincess is holding a talk about awesome female characters day here. It was great reading about many of my favorite characters and I talked about the awesomeness that is Irina Derevko.

After this article about why women don't like sci-fi which is mostly bullshit IMO, here's a poll about women and sci-fi with over 1000 women liking sci-fi, thank you very much. I love sci-fi because I love good characters and stories which sci-fi has many including exploring interesting themes in unique ways that are hard to explore in other genres.

EW's List of the 25 Funniest People in Entertainment. They got a lot right including Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, Will Arnett and Amy Poelher and David Cross. I would also include the writers of The Office especially Mindy Kaling and Paul Lieberstein.

EW's List of great Ugly Betty quips I love this show.

Some brief TV thoughts:

Spoilers for the latest Ugly Betty )

Spoilers for the latest Grey's Anatomy )

Spoilers for the Supernatural finale )

Spoilers for the How I Met Your Mother finale )

Spoilers for the Gossip Girl finale )

I absolutely loved the House finale and it totally made me cry but I will talk about it at length later.

I have a lot of stuff to catch up on so bear with me.

So I have made it back to Syracuse, NY but not before the Travel Curse struck again! I had my first late night flight a week and a half ago and it was awesome to have Dan in Real Life being the movie they played for us. I had a one stop flight so I landed in Philly where I had to go from the D gate to the F gate. I carry my heavy laptop bag and backpack and walk to get to the F gate when I see a metaphoric fork in the road so to speak saying one way to the ABCD gates and another sign to E and F and another with a warning about how if you go this way you have to rescreen. They mention a shuttle but I don't see a sign for it so I go towards the E and F gate. When I see a security guard I ask him where I can catch the shuttle to the F gate. Surprise! I missed it and I was told I couldn't go back and had to keep walking. And of course I had to rescreen at 7 am EST with a huge line and 50 minutes til my flight left it. I kept getting closer and closer and hoping I'd make it, pissed off because I never wanted to be in a situation where I would miss my flight (I always try to get there 2 hours early) and of course with 10 minutes to my flight leaves I get through airport security where they take five minutes taking out ALL my hard drives and cords and putting them through the baggage checker even when I told them I needed to hurry. And of course my gate was the farthest away so even though I ran I missed my flight. Thankfully another one left in two hours so it wasn't too bad a wait but then when I get back to Syracuse they lose my check in luggage. The good news is they returned it a day later but it was still extra frustration.

I'm back now and although it's cold, I'm all layered up and at the moment it's not too bad so I don't even need my winter coat :) I can deal with it for a few months. I am SO happy to see my cats again, I missed them so much and now I have many hugs and cuddle sessions to catch up on. Am currently looking for a job which I should hopefully get soon as I need some money. The bad news is TWO of my hard drives have stopped working, the ones with all my DVDs (thankfully I have some on my last remaining hard drive for my current vid projects), music (I have some on my laptop so I'm not totally screwed there) and TV shows. But I do have fast internet back so it doesn't take very long to download stuff. I had forgotten how nice it is to download an episode in 10 minutes or so :D I'm disappointed that a short trip to NYC I was going to do today didn't happen but thankfully NYC is only 5 hours or so away and hopefully I can visit soon! I really want to see Bryant Park and hopefully Tim Gunn if I can plan a trip right. I just miss the city even if LA will always own my heart.

I spent my time after my trip catching up on some shows, marathoning Lost and reorganizing my vid files and a few other things. Up til now, My Videos has been organized by having many folders named by fandom and I'd put a vid I downloaded into the fandom folder it belonged too. But to make it easier to open up a lot of vids all at once, I decided to rename ALL my vid files by adding the fandom to the beginning of the video even if it was just "Anime", "Movies" or "Multifandom". I also made a New Vids folder for the vids I download that I'm too lazy to rename and to make it easier to watch new vids I download. It took awhile and I had to reconstruct my vids playlist but it's been worth it has everything is much more organized and easier to get at and with my 40+ GB of vids, I need that. How does everyone else organize their vids? In order to catch up with my Flist I also made some filters to put every single member of my Flist on a smaller reading list to make it less overwhelming to reply to posts. So far that's worked pretty well although hopefully I won't need to use it too much.

The Writer's strike is over! YAY :D I find it wonderfully coincidental that I leave for CA when the strike began and left right when it ended. I am so happy to at least get a salvaged season with some news episodes of some of my favorite shows. Namely The Office in which we get 6 more episodes and possibly an hour finale! I'm am just SO EXCITED to see the next episode on April 10th which is supposed to be amazing and funny and intense and unique. So I'm really looking forward to that. Not so excited about them skipping ahead in time because I like to see how things progress and for vidding purposes. The good news is almost all my shows are renewed and I'm hoping desperately that Friday Night Lights will be renewed. I cannot wait til April! Should be awesome to have new TV on almost every night.

In hopefully what will be the last time I talk politics before November, a quick word. I am for (and will vote for) whatever Democrat wins the primary. I'd be okay with either of them although I prefer Obama but as long as Bush is gone and there is not another Republican in the White House then I'm happy. Should be fun to live with a super conservative and Ron Paul supporter politics people until November though (NOT). I will find refuge in my politics free zone or mostly liberal Flist happy place though.

Okay, meme time! 5 question and 5 OTP memes )

[written yesterday] Yay Project Runway tonight! I love Wednesday's because it's the start of new episodes with PR and Torchwood. And tonight is a reunion episode and I LOVE reunion episodes. The video montages are always awesome and there is lots more Tim Gunn and it's fun seeing all the contestants again. I don't think they can ever beat the S2 one though but here's hoping. I'm SURE we're going to see a Ricky crying video and a Christian one with all the time he says fierce or similar funny statements. And this time I can actually watch it live and not have to wait five days for the torrent!

Spoilers up to the latest Project Runway episode (not the reunion) )

Spoilers for Stargate Atlantis up to Midway )

Contrary to most of my Flist, I'm just not feeling the Supernatural love these days. I don't know if it's overexposure or S3 in general but I just can't get emotional about the boys and show anymore :( I cried at the S2 finale and now just nothing. And I'm not really intellectually interested anymore. I have really liked the last few episodes and Dean and Sam have been really cute so at least there's that. I'm glad everyone else is loving and investing in the show though.

So I'm watching Eli Stone primary for Victor Garber and thankfully it is pretty funny enough to keep me entertained. The biggest GLEE moment is definitely getting to see Victor sing. Here's a youtube clip of it. I love his voice. It's such a disconnect seeing him so NOT!Jack Bristow but his line at the scene reminds me strongly of him so at least there's that. But he SMILES! I will never get enough of that; it makes me smile in turn. The other thing about the show I love is Tom Amandes is in it! I loved him in Everwood and just seeing him onscreen makes me happy.

Spoilers for Eli Stone up to 103 )

In more Victor Garber singing clips of LOVE, here's him singing and then singing and dancing in Anne with my favorite song from the musical. I pretty much die with glee everytime I see it. He's SO CUTE! It is a little too much for me to handle. Oh and him being gay only makes me love him even more. I sure do know how to pick them :)

Next post: DIY, more TV and Jack/Irina gushing (OMG I LOVE THEM SO MUCH).

[Current Music |the office]

A meme that perfectly fits my mood today:

Rules are easy, just post 10 things that recently made you happy! Tag 10 people and force them to post this meme on their LJs. Do it if you have happy things to say!

1. THE OFFICE. MY SHOW!! It's back every week and it's still making me ridiculously happy and gleeful and I love ALL the characters and it's definitely my favorite show by infinity. Tonight's episode was hilarious and I loved it even more than last week with my FAMILY and the continuity and the relationships and KELLY *hearts* Can it always be Office day please?
2. There might be a Serenity movie!!! Apparently from Alan Tudyk, “They had to put [the new DVD] out because they’ve been selling out of the other one and so Universal’s like ‘So, let’s do another one’. And now… there’s now a chance there’s going to be another movie". OMG SQUEE! I mean, it's not for sure but that still makes me insanely happy that there's a chance. I'm getting the Collector's set for my birthday but I want to encourage everyone who loves Firefly/Serenity to buy it!
3. Pushing Daisies did well in the ratings! Everyone was so worried about them and now it won the time period :D I had faith because it is the only drama in the time period and seriously, the pilot is so beautiful and charming and brilliant, how could people not want to check it out? That being said, I was nervous all day and was very happy to hear it did well. Now the scary part is whether it loses any viewers next week.
4. Justin from Ugly Betty FILLS ME WITH CUTENESS! He is so adorable. And him and Marc are so awesome and make me so gleeful. And Wilhelmina is back to her awesome self. The whole show was hilarious tonight.
5. My boys from Supernatural are back! Still blah about the plot but there relationship is so cute and I adore Dean and the emo pain.
6. Grey's Anatomy is fun again! It's actually funny and there is the awesomeness of Cristina and slash that makes me happy (four instances for my favorite pairings!) and Bailey being super amazing and Meredith not being totally horrible. I prefer to ignore the bad things.
7. The Office did well in ratings on Thursday! It went up against heavy competition, yay! My show is awesome.
8. My birthday next week with a new Office episode!!! BEST present ever.
9. Mr. Bennett and Claire on Heroes continue to make me very gleeful each week. Also M cubed *hearts them*
10. Going to California in one month and a week!!!! Finally I get to go home to where I belong. With the warm weather and palm trees and entertainment capital of the world and the ocean and everything pretty much.

I need sleep. But I am happy to see my Flist full of TV squee. I have been fighting my anti-writing/procrastination nature lately and lack of sleep does not help.

Okay, I haven't been hit as hard as others by the Supernatural love but this episode deserves its own post. I just watched the episode and I am blown away completely.

Spoilers for All Hell Breaks Lose (Part 1) )

Does anyone know where I can watch the preview for next week's Supernatural?? I need to see it!

It's funny how different the endings of The Office and Supernatural were but how they inspire such strong emotional reactions and FINALLY give us the payoff we've been waiting for throughout two seasons. I love sweeps.

[Current Mood |awake]

So I was having kind of a crappy day yesterday with the raining reflecting my mood. I was just tired, sick of school, dealing with issues with friends and not feeling that good about myself. On days like that I just wish something good would happen to me. And it did! I got a surprise package in the mail of all 7 seasons of Buffy (the collectors edition) which I had ordered from Amazon (a few hours before they sold out thankfully) with that special $100 deal they had which I wasn't expecting til next week. So now I am so happy to have so many wonderful episodes on DVD in my possession. I can vid them at anytime now too :) I've been planning to go back and rewatch S2-3 but I've decided to go back and watch the entire series along with the extras. Slowly this time, not in a month or so. I saw the pilot yesterday and it was just so cute. They're all so cute when they were young! And I remembered why I love Willow *hearts them all* It's funny how I remember clips from being in Scooby Road and other videos.

I've been rewatching some Whose Line episodes and it's making me fall in love with Ryan and Colin all over again. Especially Greatest Hits. I love how connected they are in that game, how well they work as a team, how they imitate each other and yet play off one another, the adoring looks they give each other, the banter, the happiness from just being with each other and of course I can't forget the beautiful dancing scene the game led to. Meant to be indeed. I have this perfect romantic song I listen to and that makes me feel so overwhelmed with love for them everytime I hear it.

People who reference The Office make me so happy. First we have Ryan Stiles in his interview mentioning Steve Carell and The Office Interview quotes under the cut ) So did Steve Carell actually end up on a Whose Line? Because if he did, I must see it immediatly. It's so awesome he worked with Ryan though, although I knew they were all in Second City, it's so cool they actually worked together. And referencing Michael trying to do improv was perfect. Yay for fandoms colliding! Also Peter Casey who co-created and help wrote Frasier was talking at my school last Monday and he said the only show he was watching was The Office and that he loved it. So that made me happy.

The things about The Office that has never really happened to me before is that I want everyone to watch it. Unless you have a HUGE embarassment squick (and even then, trying out one S2/S3 episode would be nice), I believe that everyone should watch at least the first 7 episodes of S2 to give it a chance to see if they like it. Because it makes me sad that some people have not had the chance to fall in love with the show and the characters and everything about it. I mean, it used to be me! I could have had a year and a half of loving the show if I had known about it sooner. So I do try to tell people about the show, I'm going to be working on my family this summer and I let people borrow my precious DVDs just to get them to watch it. I will gladly do a lot of things for people if they would watch the show because I really believe it is that good. The quality of the show is so high and my love for the characters is so great that I want to support the show with everything I can.

Office thoughts, no spoilers )

Quick Supernatural Hollywood Babylon thoughts behind the cut )

The Office vid rec: My current favorite Jim/Pam vid is The Denial Twist. It makes the S3 angst not angsty in a really good way and the motion and fast cutting in it is absolutely amazing. I think the denial in both Jim and Pam is a big part of their relationship so the song choice really works for me. Highly recommended.

[Current Mood |excited]

So I'm in this Primetime TV show club at my school because well duh, I love TV. Tonight we have a meeting and the professor that runs it is bringing in Mark Witton to show a House episode he wrote and discuss the process of writing it. Sounds really good and I know House is a good show (even if I've only seen like 15 minutes of an episode) so I'm looking forward to it. But then I look at the IMDB to see what else he's written.

It turns out that he wrote PLAYTHINGS of Supernatural. You know the one with one of the most wincesty and emotional scenes EVER between Sam and Dean? *dies a little* So now I am super excited to meet him just to say I loved the episode. How cool is that? With this and seeing The Office cast at the Paley Festival tomorrow (OMG SQUEE), I may die happy.

Still working on typing up my reaction to Cocktails (SO AWESOME) and Escapade and memes post...I have just been in a procrastination/non-writing mode lately so it's kind of hard to overcome. And I finally got around to watching the second episode of Heroes and DAMN. That sucked me right into the show. So now I am quickly trying to get through the episodes (I'm on eight now) so I can watch the show this Monday live. Such an awesome show!

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] sisabet and [livejournal.com profile] coffeeandink! It was great to meet both of you at Vividcon :) Also Happy Belated Birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] yhlee, [livejournal.com profile] almostcanon and [livejournal.com profile] clayangel! Hope you all had great days.

Nothing makes me happier than walking outside into 80 degree, sunshine filled days. It puts a smile on my face whenever I do it, knowing that I'm living the dream when I would have been freezing only a year ago. Second semester has begun and my days are pretty packed from 8-5. The good news is I'm making a lot of money and taking two awesome classes I'm loving, Social Psychology and Cognitive Psychology. So interesting and the professors seem great so far.

I'm still obsessed with The Office and have now rewatched all the episodes twice. I'm planning a third rewatching as well. It's just SO GOOD and I am completely in love with all the characters (except Andy). The show makes me so happy with Michael always making me smile. I've been watching a bunch of vids for it and found two that were well edited and wonderful here: http://4am-insomniac.com/?cat=3 with Love Machine being fast paced and fun and Lovin' Each Day being super cute, funny Jim/Pam goodness. Since I've been in a comedy mood, I've been rewatching Arrested Development and I think although both shows are about equal in quality, The Office has been more successful because of its ability to fully love and relate to the characters as well as having a big ship that people can get behind. I tried 30 Rock but didn't find it that funny and I'm beginning Scrubs now which I have yet to form an opinion on yet. And I'm still continuing to watch Gilmore Girls and Due South, both which I still enjoy very much.

Thursday night is definitely the best night of the week with The Office, Supernatural and Grey's Anatomy.

The Office - Ben Franklin )

Supernatural: Playthings through Houses of the Holy )

Grey's Anatomy - Wishin and Hopin )

Is it Thursday yet?

First of all, Happy (belated) Birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] f1renze, [livejournal.com profile] jackiekjono, [livejournal.com profile] snoopypez, [livejournal.com profile] seanmegansean and [livejournal.com profile] trustingno1! I hope you all had a great day and have a wonderful year.

Thursdays are quickly becoming my favorite day ever with all the great TV on. So here are some of my reactions to the shows I've seen:

Grey's Anatomy 301 )

Grey's Anatomy 302 )

Supernatural 201 )

All I can say is I'm thankful to have such an awesome Flist with all the great thoughts on both shows. From commiserating in Supernatural love to having good discussions about Addison, it's been fun to read and participate in. I also checked out a few episodes of The Office since it seemed like Arrested Development and I do like it. Michael is too funny, he's my favorite so far. Busy watching BSG as well, I can't believe the S3 premiere is this Friday! It's so much nicer talking about shows when they air. In other fannish news, I am so happy to get my Whose Line DVD, the day it came out. The gag reels and extra scenes were awesome and hilarious and made me adore Ryan even more. I am so thankful that I have a cash flow coming in with my new job which thankfully allows for lots of homework and surfing the computer on the side, allowing me to be able to pay for stuff and no longer feel completely like a poor college student.

In case anyone's interested, I updated my memories to list all the vid meta I could find, listed in categories to hopefully make them easier to find. I figured since I spend so much time going through all the meta, might as well make it easier to find. I also started putting some categories for vid recs but that's far from finished so many of the fandoms are not well represented with good vids. Thank you to everyone who has vid meta links in their memories along with [livejournal.com profile] permetaform for her Big List of Meta page, which all helped a lot. On a vid meta note, I have lots of ideas for what I want to write up...just no time right now. Sometime in the future, that's for sure.

I'm still in love with California, the warm weather glow hasn't worn off yet and each day I'm grateful for being in a place that makes me happy. I don't even mind it being cold or waking up early in the morning now because I know that it won't last long, I have warmth every day and can choose to sleep in til 11 whenever I want. It's all about choice and I love the freedom that I have here. A few weekends ago, I went to Huntington Beach at night and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever. Totally worth all the biking/busing/walking I did to get there. I love the ocean the most at night and one of my favorite things about it is that it's free, its open to the world. I wasn't even at the main beach and I could just walk in the sand and waves and feel at peace with the world. I was alone which was nice as I could freely relax and enjoy myself. I can't put into words what made me so happy about it, I'm just a nature person so it connected with me. But that's not to say I don't like cities too. I went into LA yesterday as I haven't been able to really explore the city since I've been here. I liked it, lots of things to do and see. Next time, I will definitely bring my bike on the Metrolink (which was surprisingly, quite nice) which will make it easier to get around. Next weekend: Disneyland! I can't wait.

Supernatural Ramblings [Aug. 8th, 2006|06:58 am]

[Current Music |"Breakdown" by Jack Johnson]

I cannot believe I'm writing a post at 7 AM in the morning (I can assure you that I did not wake up at this ungodly hour) but since its Supernatural that's keeping me up, I figured I'd talk about it.

Supernatural Commentary with slight spoilers under the cut )

In other news, I bought an external hard drive as I am severely lacking in space and I need lots of episodes in order to vid. I got a good price on a 320 GB one and it works wonderfully so far. I've transferred all my Whose Line episodes onto there freeing a ton of laptop space and am in the process of transferring all my Buffy and Angel episodes onto it as well. Then I'll rip all my DVDs to keep them on there. Also, Doctor Who won in my latest poll so I'm watching that currently and loving it. The Doctor is really great, I love how he's so enthusiastic and fun and crazy while still caring so much about Rose and his past, those little emotion peaks are great to watch. The whole time traveling aspect is very fun to watch as well and its a very visually cool show. Jack also just showed up and he is already very captivating and good eye candy. Watched a bit of SGA and BSG as well and enjoyed those too, Rodney is the cuteness and Starbook and Apollo (HOT!) are soo awesome. I have to say, the BSG miniseries did a great job of sucking me into the whole Humans vs. Cylons story.

Anyways I've got to go to bed now and try to stop going to bed so late in the next few days. It's hard to stop, I just get so into things (especially vids) and can't pull myself away and since I can sleep all day, there's not much to stop me. But I do need to go to bed earlier so I can get some sleep at Vividcon which OMG 3 days! *squee* Will post about that later.

Whose Line, what else? (and some vidding/SPN) [Jun. 19th, 2006|11:49 pm]

[Current Music |"Colorblind" by Darius]

Funniest clip ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXcAUgKlnbs&search=whose%20line%20irish Just get to the end, I seriously could not stop laughing. Colin is definitely the best at this game, hell the best ever. He is king. *loves*

Even though I'm just finishing the 7th season of the US version, I couldn't resist checking out the UK one. And wow, do the guys look different. It was weird seeing and hearing them so young. Seriously, I can not get over it. Especially Ryan with that voice and and...he's just so cute! I can tell they're still not quite confident as compared to the US series but its still pretty funny. And I won't deny they're even hotter young...what do you expect? Their personalities and little quirks definitely still stand out as them though. And Ryan and Colin are still sooo in love with each other from the beginning. Love seeing them do Helping Hands and all of the talking to each other after the game. Too cute. But I finally see what the Ryan/Greg shippers see as I finally notice something between those two, mostly when Colin's not around although I do see some triangle action going on there. It's fun to see even though the Ry/Col bond rises above everything for me.

Oh and I'm vidding again! :) Finally, it's been too long. I've got a song, I've got everything ripped and avs'ed (new word!) and I'm working on the climax of the song for my Brokeback vid. I need to work on the structure and get the lyrics figured out some more to really work on it but I think I'll actually be able to finish this one. Really. And I'm not forgetting about my two Whose Line vids (one funny/romantic and another sappy one) I have planned, I'll hopefully be finished with all the Ry/Col episodes in a week or so and then I can work on those simultaneously. And I actually have the free time to do this. I love summer. Also, everyone go watch [livejournal.com profile] rudelypinioned's Whose Line vid here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgMuZIrON9s It is nicely edited, too funny and full of love. Go watch it again if you've already seen it.

Oh and I've started Supernatural since half my friend's list is obsessed with it. I was originally turned off by the horror (I watched the first five minutes when it aired) and even now I'm not into it but I do like the mystery involved so I don't mind. It's easy not to mind because Dean (who always confused me since that was JP's name on Gilmore Girls) is super hot and sexy in this role (much better than on SV, thankfully). Love his personality, love the confidence and love his cuteness with Sam. Their relationship is great and I can see why all the slashers were squeeing, the wincest looks good to me. I've watched the first four episodes and enjoyed them so I'll keep watching.
