Michael/Jan thoughts

So it's official: I completely and utterly ship Michael/Jan together on The Office. After seeing Back From Vacation, I'm all in. Since last Thursday I've been crazy about them and it hasn't died down much. I enjoy Jim and Pam but they don't interest me like Michael and Jan do.

I have been trying to avoid capslock for this show but now I cannot resist. OMG MICHAEL AND JAN ARE OMG SO IN LOVE AND KISSED AND HE SAID YOU COMPLETE ME *SQUEE* I really was trying to resist them, I don't need a ship to get involved in that will break my heart or make me desperate for scenes every week and Michael is just so crazy that I didn't think anyone could really fit with him. But then this scene. Wow. Blows my mind everytime I watch it. And believe me, I've watched it like a million times (along with The Client and Valentine's Day). When Michael said "You complete me" I was done. I gave them my heart and when Jan says "Oh god" that's my oh god beecause I have now fallen desperately in love with them and I can't help it.

I love that Michael and Jan both have these two (and more) sides to them. They each have this vulnerable side and yet they mask it with their more confident side whether it's Michael's zany try to be funny way or Jan's all business corporate way. Jan shows that vulnerable side so well in Back to Vacation not only mentioning her issues but the little downturns of her head, so much is expressed in her face. And the whole boss/employee relationship works for me because it's not like Michael's looking to get ahead by sleeping with Jan or anything. Sure maybe he'll brag or something but he's not doing it for anything professional as Craig implied in Valentine's Day. He does it because he wants to, because it makes him happy. That's all. It's so cute how he's such a kid about it. That's one of my favorite parts about Michael, his inner childness and enthusiasm and I love how Jan brings it out in him. It's so funny how he won't give up no matter what, even when he's with Carol, he still calls Jan his girlfriend (he has a very unilateral approach to that definition).

During the kisses, Jan goes through it like she can't believe she's doing it, out of control with her eyes closed so she can't see what happens. And then he says "You complete me" and they look straight at each other and she understands what they are doing. The romance and love implications of it all yes but the milestone this is, the change and the huge affect it can have on her AND Michael. She can so easily break his heart. And I love how seriously he says "You complete me". It's not a joke or a romantic cliche, it's just how he feels. He puts it all out on the line at a time where he is shell shocked with relief and with wonder at her words and actions. Gahhh. It's just such a big action and it contrasts with the rest of the scene. He's not going against her or trying to reflect back on her, he's opening up and letting out what he says in the only way he can express it. It's like he can't think so he just says it in the simplest words possible.

From the start, Jan ie Melora Hardin reminded me of someone I had seen before but I couldn't place her. I checked the IMDB but she hadn't been in anything I had seen. Then I realised it was her voice that was reminding me of something. Finally I figured it out: she reminds me of Claire Allen aka Paula Marsha from Cupid. And wow, does Trevor/Claire parallel Michael/Jan. Michael and Trevor both have that childish innocence to them, the enthusiasm and boundless confidence not to mention suffer (slightly) from delusions. Not to mention they both believe so strongly in romance (you complete me!!) and sex. Jan and Claire are so alike in their professional attitudes and hardened exterior and belief more in compatibility. And they both try to keep their relationship purely professional but thank god, in this show Michael and Jan actually get to kiss. Hopefully this will make me slightly less bitter about never getting to see what happened with Trevor and Claire.

Now I'm just nervous where the show is going to go with their relationship. I've been dying the last two episodes to see them with sadly (almost) nothing and I can't believe I have to wait another week to see a new episode. I am obsessing on The Office at the moment. It's just SO GOOD and the actors are all a class act. Which speaking of, I'm going to get to meet almost all of them March 2nd! Hopefully I'll be able to go to the Paley Festival where everyone besides Steve Carell is going to be there including Melora Hardin *squee* I really, really can't wait.

I'm kind of dying to vid Michael and Jan. They have the best facial expressions. I have been listening to a bunch of ridiculously romantic songs that express my love for them but it's not really their relationship. And I really should vid existing vid projects. But I need to express my obsessive love for them so I found a song I think will work. I went out to buy the DVDs on Saturday so I've got those all set up. And they also have some great deleted scenes and commentaries with some great mentions including one of my favorite quotes right here:

"Any single-cell organism has to have a spine. And that's me. But the spine is always controlled by a brain and that is Jan. But the brain needs a heart and that is me again. So ironic. You know what? The heart is smarter than the brain. But...the brain is so effin' hot." -Michael Scott

VID FROM YOU YAY!

Michael and Jan.. I'm so not used to loving a canon pairing so much, let alone a het one. It's amazing, and I can't get enough of them, and I just recently rewatched all of second season, and had to go rewatch the end of Back From Vacation after Valentine's Day. ;D And it's such a LEAP from one to the next, but it was so gradual and wonderful and real and I LOVE THEM SO SO MUCH.

And I'm very jealous that you'll be there on March 2nd. :(

Thanks for the encouragement :D But yes! It's so nice loving a canon and het pairing that totally works and makes me want more and more. I'm rewatching the second season as well and yes, I loove the transition. It's so wonderful that Jan's kissing him now, for real. SO IN LOVE!

I wish you could come as well but I'm sure they'll be many reports.
