Computer woes

So now my laptop has stopped working. According to the tech guys at my school, the hard drive is shot. Probably randomly. Great, just great. Not only do I have a ton to do this week, I don't have all my vids, vidding stuff, music and personal computer for internet usage. Already I can't even get Lum's vid to play :( I'm hoping I can recover the information because I stupidly don't have it backed up. The place where I bought it from is in NY so it'll probably take forever me to get it back. So I guess I'll be using the school library a lot. *sigh* This just sucks.

Some new Michael/Jan fic cheered me up and probably watching The Office will do the same but I can tell it'll be a long two weeks before the glorious month of April begins.

Oh god, that sucks about your hard drive and vids. :S I hope you can get it working!

Computer problems suck!

Also, not having a computer sucks (just got over that problem recently myself :S).

As for not having vids, I completely understand. I've changed a bit recently, but for me, vidding *was* my fandom. Sure I'd mostly download vids from certain fandoms, but really I didn't limit myself to known fandoms. You could take away fics, and icons and graphics, and hell, in someways even the shows, and I'd be ok, so long as I had my vids.

About a year and a half ago I moved to China, and I didn't have a computer with me, but I still brought some vids with me on CD. And *that* was hard, since of my like 15GBs of vids (at the time) I could only take like 3GBs :(

*life hard* we need ivds :P

Vids are definitely important but thankfully I can redownload most of them. It's just a bitch to do. I'm always thankful to have them though.

Well, I have most of my vids backed up on another computer, but not most of my SGA or SG-1 vids.

Actually when I think of the things I may have lost, those are the worse, but I also save my favourite fics, so I'll have lost a good deal of those. And some podfics, 1 of which I was making myself (oh god, like 100 hours down the drain!). I have most of my music on an external hard drive. Same with most of my source material. I'll have lost a few eps and movies, but nothing too huge.

Programs. That's another biggie. just getting Firefox set up on this computer is annoying. I had a lot of add ons installed (thank god a bookmark synchronizer was amoung them).

Also, things like tracking down the programs and their keygens can be a pain (I always seem to get virus' when looking for keygens).

It won't be the end of the world if I can't get my info back, I'll just be incredibly pissed.

Oh computers, how you suck, but make life so we can't live without you!

Really sorry about your troubles. The good news is that tech guys managed to get my stuff backed up (hopefully all of it, its processing now). So I hope the same can happen to you. And yeah, can't live without them.
