When a fandom fails you, move onto the next one ie Due South Love
So it seems like me and The Office are having a breakup. I've still watched Women's Appreciation only once, not because it was all that bad but I have a bad feeling about it. I'm pissed off at the characters and the writers and the fact that I have to defend characters who I love even when I'm angry at them but also hurting with them. Yeah obviously I'm talking Michael and Jan here and it's ruining my enjoyment of the show as a whole and I hate that. This is why I don't like to invest myself into a ship too much, especially het ones where the writers can fuck it up. Now I'm hating the show for breaking my heart :( The whole Pam/Jim/Karen triangle is annoying me too although its more of a reaction to being frustrated with the characters.
Even the fact that the show producer is awesome and tried to get fanvids onto the S3 DVDs and even when that failed, still support US the fans, all of this still doesn't erase my negative feelings. And that is bad and wrong. I can't even get myself to watch my favorite episodes. I just have this bad feeling in my gut about it.
So I am distracting myself with some great episodes of Due South. I'm up to Mountie on the Bounty and it was awesome! The love story of Fraser and RayK makes me so happy. The fun part is I see so many images I've seen in vids. Specifically Out Here because I've watched that vid way too many times but I've seen Goodie Two Shoes, Wonder of Birds, In the Mirror and Flying Home clips as well and it's so cool to recognize them and see the context. I have banned myself from watching the vids while I'm watching the show which just makes me want to finish the series even more. And I want to read some good DS fic, read and unread. I love Fraser so much, he is a true hero.
I don't really have much to say about it besides *squee*. I mean the smiles on top of the boat! "Love and run" punching scene! That made me gasp even moreso than when I see Out Here. The "silent" and "you might start walking" clips! Oh, Fraser. And then when shoots in Canadian territory in slow motion, so hot. I love the little hand signals and how they are so in sync with each other. BUDDY BREATHING! I love how awkward RayK was after that hehe. And then when they came onto the boat, all slow motion was too sexy. The fighting was sad but the end was wonderful with both of them admitting their usual ways aren't always right.
The procedural side of the show usually bores me but thankfully the show has been really good this season with keeping the plots related to Fraser and Ray as well as exciting in their own right. It started back in S2 with Juliet is Bleeding which was just heartbreaking (and the only other time I cried besides Victoria's Secret), One Good Man made me admire Fraser and his heroicness and I also really enjoyed The Edge (Dief dreams!), All the Queen's Horses (mounties! and the train clip from Walking on the Ground) and Red, White or Blue (sleeping for the bomb!).
And Some Like It Red was just the best ever. I could not stop laughing the entire time I was watching it. I saw the *woman* walking down the stairs and I was like, I KNOW I've seen that in a vid but I don't know which one. And then it was Fraser! In a dress, hee. It was from the Repeat After Me vid from VVC, that's where I remembered it from. No matter how many times I saw Fraser in drag or dancing with RayV in vids, it never truly made me happy til I saw the real thing. Fraser dancing is the funniest thing in the world. And then the guy asked him to dance! Hahaha. And Ray *saved* him from dancing with a guy...right. Oh the beautiful slash especially with Fraser being so offended in the end and saying he's not picky. Ah so good.
I had seen Burning Down The House and Eclipse before but watching it again its still guarenteed to make me fall in love with RayK. He really is the king of movement and makes it so sexy. And I can't forget, "Do you find me attractive?" "Very much so". Oh, yeah. And of course there is the dream catcher flying from Wonder of Birds and then in Asylum, RayK falling on the floor in the consulate from the same vid. Oh and I finally got to see Stella! Not just in vids but the beautiful dancing scenes. RayK is so deliciously hot in those scenes. The other thing I love about RayK is how honest he is about his emotions and his life to Fraser. Those little moments between them are wonderful not to mention seeing all the walking scenes I've seen in vids. I loved seeing the end of Bounty Hunter where Ray puts his arm around Fraser (from In the Mirror!). The slash on this show is fantastic :) I'm also impressed by how funny the show can be even when it has its awkward moments. I LOVE the theme song. When I can't but sing/hum happily along with it then I know I've truly fallen in love with a show.
So yeah, Due South=Love. I'm hoping to finish the series in the next week or so. I saw Supernatural and loved it for once. Not much to say but oh, Dean. How I love you so even when you tear my heart out. Grey's was pretty boring but made up for it with all the beautiful LA shots. God, I love my city so much. The waves, the landscapes, the city shots, all of it was looking good. Next weekend is my big trip up to Six Flags Magic Mountain where I'm going to spend all day riding some of the biggest, fastest and most thrilling roller coasters out there. Being a HUGE roller coaster fan, I'm super excited. I'm in it for that emotional high and that flying feeling I love so much. I'm also going to this big cats conservation center since they're my favorite animals. It'll be good to see some animals again. Now I only have to survive my last week of classes to get there. At least Monday I get my laptop back! :D

But I sort of feel the same way about not being able to enjoy other parts of the show. I'm too busy focusing on M/J.
Hopefully we'll have some sort of resolution in the finale. And hopefully it won't be as completely depressing as WA.

I hope you find your Office love again. At the very least, I'd watch through the end of this season. I think the writers have been building up all season, for both Jan/Michael and Pam/Jim (if you like Pam/Jim...I do but I am not all squee-y about them). I'm not spoiled, but I just have a feeling big things will happen.
Also I have never seen Due South. I vaguely remember seeing commercials for it as a kid. What is it?

Due South is about Fraser, a mountie who comes to Chicago looking for his father's killer and then stays and works as a liason with the Chicago police department specifically Ray. It would be a boring police procedural except that Fraser is completely unique with his ways from Canada and works so well off of his partner Ray (even though there's two of them, long story). It's a great show, I'd check it out if you're interested.
BTW I LOVE your icon! They were so cute at Paley.

I kind of want to write a cross over-fic now, where Dwight goes to Toronto (Ha! I mean Chicago!) and has to help Ray and Fraser solve a crime. Ray would look on in quippy horror as Dwight and Fraser licked and sniffed their way to an arrest. (Uh. TWSS?)I'm thinking "International Incident at a Chicago Paper Conference."

I just kind of wish they hadn't made Jan as freaky as they did. I don't think I could breakup with The Office. *laughs at self* I was just thinking if I ever did, I could listen to some James Blunt on the internet..the like 20 second preview. Oh michael!
Ok I really should work now.
