If luck weren't involved, I would always be winning.

So I have both the worst luck in the world and the best luck. Mostly good though. Last Saturday I accidentally spilled lemoƱade on my laptop *cringe* I turned it off quickly and got most of it off but I was terrified I had broken my laptop completely. The fact that it cost a *lot* of money to buy and I don't have money to spare now was one of the bad parts not to mention my laptop is my most important possession with all the internet and vidding stuff I do. It's my baby, like Dean and his Impala. And the worst thing was I had just gotten back into vidding again and ripped all of my Office DVDs in preparation of the four vid projects I have for the show (1 ensemble, 1 Michael/Jan, 1 Michael and 1 Jim/Pam, Pam centric). So yeah, I had a mini freakout/cry but I let it sit for the night and today was able to take it to a computer place. There I get the best news in the world: my laptop still works!!! :D I had to clean it but most of it got on the DVD drive which with some cleaning is now fine. So I got lucky as the computer guy said, it had only happened to one other person. He even helped me more because my laptop is a *special* Asus laptop *adores* Thankfully I still have my external hard drives with backups with most of my stuff (although not the music and some vids) but it could have been a distaster without it. Let this be a lesson to everyone to ALWAYS back up your laptop/computer and never put any kind of drink near it.

So I have my internet back as I was only able to get on intermittently and at times barely at all due to my stupid, selfish, jerk brother (have I mentioned he's the only one in the world who I truly hate?) not letting me on the family computer. I will try to comment on some of the things I missed since I'm back now :) I used the time away to catch up on rereading the Harry Potter books and I have now finished the first five in time for the fifth movie which I'm seeing tomorrow afternoon :) I had forgotten how much I loved them for the characters, plots, platonic relationships and world building not to mention all the emotion inspired by them. SO GOOD. I am starting to get back into Potter mania just in time even though the fandom still is too big and scary for me to venture much inside. I will write up some of my thoughts on the books once I finish the sixth one.

Another thing I am deeply in love with at the moment are VIDS. Thank god my iPod still worked so I could watch them but I hated being away from some of the great vidding related posts I saw. I can't believe Vividcon is here in one month OMG! Vividcon is one of the best experiences I have ever lived through and I am psyched to go again and enjoy it once more. It's going to be fun hanging out with vid lovers and vidders and watching vids and talking about them and just GUH it sounds like heaven already. I really am truly grateful to have vidding, I need that creative outlet and making vids gives me more reason to feel excited about life and what I can do with it. And of course, watching everyone's vids and reading about them makes me incredibly happy. Yay vid fandom!

I have also been getting my parents to finally watch The Office! It's hard with S1 but I've been able to get them to keep watching so all is good. And it's good to see S1 again and get more familiar with it. The funny parts are more spaced apart but there are some moments that had me LMAO that are made more funny by knowing the characters so I still enjoyed them. I do love how they capture the characters so well but I'm glad they took away some of the distance towards Michael they had in S1 and gave him more plots in S2/S3 to make him more lovable. My favorite episode is still Basketball as it makes me laugh the most and the plot moves along well with all the characters involved but I always enjoy Healthcare and The Alliance with their great Dwight/Jim/Pam plots. After The Job, I love Dwight and Pam even more so if anyone has any fic recs with them (platonic but I'm okay with anything more), I'd love to read them.

Also, I'm seeing Randy Harrison and other QAF friends in Stockbridge/Boston in 3 days! I can't wait. Things are definitely starting to look up for me :)

ETA: Could Gilmore Girls could have ended more perfectly? I think not. It ended *exactly* the way I wanted it to *happy sigh*

Oh, you're so lucky your laptop wasn't ruined. Electronics and beverages just do not mix. I killed a cell phone once by dropping it into a glass of iced tea. Heh.

Looking forward to your Office vids. :)

I know! I'm still over the moon about it. I appreciate everything I can do on it that much more. I've learned my lesson.

I can't wait to get started on them :)

I am sitting right here with an adult beverage next to the keyboard and am suddenly very, very afraid. So glad to hear that your laptop survived!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Move it away! I am scared for you. But yes, very glad indeed :)

I am seriously considering getting an iPhone after watching this video:
http://news.com.com/1606-2-6194832.html

Me wants!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. I want one too! I probably won't get one for another five or so years though. For one, I have no need for the phone features and secondly I'd wait before they cost less, stuff is fixed and new features are added before I'd get it.

[identity profile] mranderson71.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah those are my thoughts too, though I think I will cave in well & truly before 5-6 years. I haven't bought myself a new toy gadget for years, the wife seems to get all the cool stuff!

I may need a new mobile phone in a few months, so I will be watching with interest on all the reports of the good & bad on the iPhone.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
See I've bought too many (but I can always use another external hard drive! never lets up) so I'm trying to cut back. I hope you find your perfect new mobile phone though, they are very useful not to mention cool. I'm mostly dying for one that has internet access. LJ access at anytime sounds heavenly.

[identity profile] mranderson71.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well Ive just found out that they wont be coming to Australia until prolly December. So thats plenty of time to wait to see what happens. I would like a bigger HDD in it though, maybe this area will change by the time they get here.

Oh Santa...

[identity profile] in-lalaland.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 04:14 am (UTC)(link)

Wow you are def lucky that your laptop is still working * move the cup of tea next to her away*

And I know we talked about the vids so I can't wait to watch them since I'm around and "capable" of watching those (I.e I'm feeling okay lately). Btw did you see the preview of the new Steve Carell movie (Get smart) that will be in theaters next year (sure you know about this but I'm taking a chance anyway, hope you won't mind ^^: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nm2o-NI7fLk.

I can't wait !

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
I am thanking my luck so much right now *hugs laptop* Move that tea far away...I'm so glad you're feeling better! I did see the preview just a little awhile ago and died of cuteness and hilarity. How is Steve so continually awesome? I can't wait to see the movie. Also, Steve is really hot <3

I love the episode "Basketball" as well. It's still in my top five. I really enjoyed the first season, although like you said, the laughs are a little more spread out. Michael is more of a prick than a somewhat lovable boss. And I never really liked the Pilot episode all that much.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah after watching the first season the first time it was my favorite and it still remains. I find it hard to compare S1 to S2/3 but it was important in establishing the characters and relationships. Even Michael who is more of a jerk in S1 still is captured in some perfect quotes and in lines that come back in the next seasons. The Pilot is my least favorite Office episode actually, I didn't like the British Pilot either but yet it still has some good moments so I grit my teeth and start people off with it. I like to start things from the beginning, no matter how bad.

BTW love the icon! I was just watching that episode today and that part cracked me up.

[identity profile] stephmck.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
I've gotten some friends onto the office. I'm starting to wonder if we are ever going to see season 3 here though. It's been a 8 months since S2 ended, and not a sign of #3 :( But soon I'll be able to buy the DVD's & see all the extras, what a happy girl I will be :D

OMG you're going to stockbridge????? YAY!!!!!! So many of my friends will be there. I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'm so proud of you :) Converting new Office fans is a good mission to have. Sorry it's taking so long to get there but there's always downloads to spread until then. I can't wait to the DVDs come out! The extras are always awesome.

Yep! I'm getting all excited about it. I'm going with [livejournal.com profile] kitkatbyte and it's going to be SO much fun, I just know it :D

[identity profile] shadownyc.livejournal.com 2007-07-11 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad that your laptop is okay.

Maybe we'll meet in Stockbridge at the theater. :)

I hope so! It'd be awesome to meet you :)

*catches up on flist*

Wow, thank god about your computer. I would die if I lost my laptop, and I've got a back up computer.

Let this be a lesson to everyone to ALWAYS back up your laptop/computer
You'd think I'd learn that, but in like the last year I've had my hd crash and burn at least three times. Each time I didn't really have a back up of anything. I've only got things semi backed up now since I spread everything out to other HDs and computers during the other crashes. :S

I am starting to get back into Potter mania just in time even though the fandom still is too big and scary for me to venture much inside.
Word. I loved the books for years before I tried joining the fandom. I lasted like 2 months of participation (longer lurking, I still lurk sometimes actually) before I got burned so bad I left it. Seeing the movie though made me want to read fic, so I've put SGA to the side for now and am back in lurker mode. :P

Also, I'm seeing Randy Harrison and other QAF friends in Stockbridge/Boston in 3 days! I can't wait.
What's the play this year? I went and saw Equus, but kindo f left the fandom after that, so really don't know what's going on anymore.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
Soooo sorry about the lateness. Sometimes I forget to answer comments.
Yeah, I still need to update my backups. I must do this tomorrow.

Lurking really is the best mode in HP fandom unless you're really obsessed. The play was the Cuckoo's Nest one. Wish I could have been to Equus!
