Stockbridge/Boston and Harry Potter Book 6/7
So I'm back from Stockbridge and Boston which was an amazing experience for the most part. Highlights include meeting Randy Harrison OMGYAY and seeing him twice perform stunningly in a play I love, meeting some awesome QaF fangirls, karaoke featuring singing, dancing, group songs and romantic QaF music, walking the Freedom Trail in Boston and watching QaF vids with fellow vidders. It was so much fun! Only bad was I had a bit of transportation trouble on the way home but thankfully I only made it home a few hours later than I expected. I will make a longer post about the trip tomorrow. For now I've read all my Flist and will try to catch up with commenting tomorrow.
I used the time traveling today to read the entire 6th Harry Potter book. I had forgotten a lot since I've only read it once when it first came out. Now I regret that since there's so little time left before the 7th and it's making me sad that this is it in terms of canon. I wish I had been a bit more involved in HP fandom, it is a once in a lifetime experience and it's now approaching the end of an era. Hary Potter was the first fandom I was ever in and where I read my first fanfic so this is big for me. I will say that it made me love Dumbledore all the more and his relationship with Harry. I am deathly afraid of spoilers for the 7th book as I'm definitely waiting until Friday night to read the book. But I cannot avoid my Flist or LJ so I beg everyone, I plead (yes, 6th book reference there) with you to not spoil me or anyone else in any way and always put spoilers for the book under a cut tag clearly stating it as book 7 spoilers. I trust my Flist so hopefully nothing bad will happen there. I am very, very sad that someone actually uploaded it. Is nothing sacred anymore?
To end on a better note, one of my favorite Dumbledore quotes: "Ah, music, a magic beyond all we do here."

I couldn't agree more. It's such a horrible thing to do.

I just finished HBP yesterday as well and am ready for a full reading on saturday beginning at 1AM :D
This is the end of an era, the moment when we'll read those first page, and then the last ones, knowing this is it. It's really overwhelming. I didn't expect to be so emotionnal but I am. :)

No spoilers from me... I promise! No, I don't think anything is sacred. But I'm hoping it's a hoax, that will teach all those cue jumpers :P

Yeah it'd be nice if it was fake but scans make me doubt it. In any case, I want to read the real thing.

and yes, hp was my first fandom too and i wish i was more involved. i feel like hpfandom was much more fic based and unfortunately it was something i could never throw myself into for very long. still, the fact that we were reading theorizing and waiting for each new book has given us a very unique experience that no other generation will have. my friend and i decided we will withhold each book for a year when our children read them heh

Seriously. The scope of this thing, this book, this weekend, is so HUGE and I just don't understand how or why people take perverse pleasure in ruining it for everyone else. Go pee in a sandbox or something. Jerks.

I am a Harry Potter fan too and am so disappointed to hear that the final book is being spoiled. Some things are sacred and should be given respect. I hope I can avoid any references about it until I can read it for myself.

Yeah same here. So far, so good on the spoiler front. I only hope that keeps up.
