Movies I'm looking forward to

I don't usually watch movies in theaters (or at all) but here are some I definitely plan on checking out:

Arrested Development movie: I am SO EXCITED to see this, there are no words. I'm sure it'll be hilarious and just seeing my favorite characters again with new material will be wonderful. As mentioned previously, I'm planning on seeing this one a LOT, at least ten times which I've never done before to make up for not seeing Serenity more than once.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blooded Prince: The book had my favorite main plot of all the books (closely followed by the third) so I'm hoping I can ignore the crappy romance and side plots and enjoy the good of the story. Hopefully the actor that plays Dumbledore can pull off the scenes that remain vivid in my mind. Also, good Snape scenes!
Get Smart: Steve Carell looks ridiculously hot in a suit. Plus the previews make it seem hilarious. Mmmm Steve.
I Love You, Phillip Morris: It's like Beecher/Keller! With Ewan, yum. I can never resist a prison love story.
Milk: A movie about the first gay mayor of San Francisco with Victor Garber, I'm so in. I had hoped Steve would be in it but Sean Penn and James Franco work too.
The Subtle Knife: Just so I can see the scene that SHOULD have been in The Golden Compass. Stupid fuckers. But it'll make my shippy heart happy and it's one of the most emotional of the books.
Star Trek XI: Kirk/Spock and Zachary Quinto! I'd hope to see all of the original plus movies before I see this but who knows if that'll happen.
The X Files 2?: If I finish the TV show in time and love it enough.
Mama Mia: Following in the footsteps of Rent and Hairspray, I always love a good movie musical.

Anymore that you think I'd be interested in?

Is the subtle knife a definite then? I thought they hadn't announced it yet :( I really hope they make it though. WE NEED A MARISA/ASRIEL KISS!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
No I'm just putting it on there out of hope. At least the scene is filmed so I KNOW I'll get to see it sometime even if it's on a DVD.

I NEED to see this kiss!

I'm pretty sure TSK was greenlighted even before The Golden Compass was released.

I have the perfect song for TSK/Amber Spyglass vid (if they make the last book, I highly doubt they can do the book justice on screen though). Good song about science and spirituality. Good stuff.

I was sorely disappointed with the TGB adaptation. I don't have hope for the follow-up, but if the movie's pretty, I will still vid it. :)

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Well that's good to hear :) I thought part of it was dependent on the money.

Yay vid! I was disappointed by the first as well but the prettiness is nice.

ooooh, I await your TSK/Amber Spyglass vid with bated breath. That will be awesome, I'm certain.

[identity profile] counteragent.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
OMG - there is an arrested development movie?!!!? My life is complete.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently so (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0901469/) and the creators are talking like it's a sure thing so I'm looking forward to it :D It is definitely made of awesome.

I had no idea there was going to be an Arrested Development movie. Excitement.

I'm kinda nervous about The X-Files (cause I think maybe they waited too long) and Get Smart (because I adore the original), but I'm sure I'll see both, anyway.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
They've been talking about it since early in the strike and it's looking like it's going to happen now, yay!

I've seen one original Get Smart and enjoyed it so I'm hoping this will be more of the same. Steve Carell is amazing so I know I'll enjoy it on the basis of him.

[identity profile] illusionaltzu.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they might have waited too long, too. *Worryworryworry*

Mama Mia looks awesome as does X-Files!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yay for both of them!

[identity profile] mozartfan1313.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
From what I've heard Arrested Development isn't 100% official, although there is an imdb page for it. I hope it's true, either way.

I've never read the Harry Potter books, but I enjoy the films. When does the new one come out? And what romantic angst are you referring too? lol.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
It may not be 100% but it looks pretty certain at this point. IMDB page is definitely good!

November 2008, I can't wait! Um, oh god they basically ruined Ron/Hermione for me with this crappy Lavender thing and Harry and Ginny have this thing that I find lame...I basically just ignore it for all main story plot.

[identity profile] mozartfan1313.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
The way I see it is that Jason Bateman wouldn't have got our hopes up by talking about it while promoting Juno if he didn't think it was a high possibility. Here's hoping, anyway.

Lavender? Is she new? I'm assuming she gets all up on Ron? lol. I've heard about the outcome of the books and, from the films anyway, I never really got the impression that Ron and Hermione would like each other. Same with Harry and Ginny. They are rarely even in the SAME ROOM! lol. Of course, the books could be more detailed.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-05-05 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Right exactly. It looks like they're determined.

Um no she's been in the books for awhile in a small role. You'll see in the movie I guess. The books are a LOT more detailed and DEFINITELY way worth reading and INFINITY times better than the movies. I have a real issue with them so...

[identity profile] spookster831.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yay, X-Files!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-05-05 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Fangirls all over the world are happy :)

[identity profile] illusionaltzu.livejournal.com 2008-05-03 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Arrested Development, woooot! I really hope that happens.

According to Chris Carter, you don't need to have watched the X-Files series in order to appreciate the movie... which makes me unhappy. I've been hoping for a movie to tie up some of the loose ends that the series left us with (LOTS of 'em) but I guess I'll take what I can get.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-05-05 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here!

I believe in watching things in order so it doesn't matter either way. But I do wish the movie would wrap things up to make fans happen. Hopefully it'll at least be good.

Steve Carell in a suit is one of two reasons I will be watching Get Smart [I also loved the old series]. Drawback of watching it with the family - can't go ooh and aah and grin dopily when he comes on. :P

AD MOVIE!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-05-05 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I never get tired of Steve in a suit :) I would say there's no reason not to!

YAY!!!
