End of the Year Fandom Meme 2011
Not a great year for acquiring fandoms but I will still do the fandom end of year meme.
What fandoms did you acquire in 2011?
X-Men: First Class, Game of Thrones, New Girl, 2 Broke Girls, Happy Endings, Drew Carey's Improvaganza, Friends, Husbands, Shameless. Movie fandom in general I guess.Maybe others I'm forgetting. Also The Vampire Diaries S1 and Fringe S2 (and the end of S1).
What fandoms did you let go of in 2011?
None that I can recall.
What fandoms did you mean to get into but didn't in 2011? Why?
The Walking Dead, Twin Peaks, Generation Kill, Dead Like Me, Deadwood. Haven't been in a drama mood lately.
What fandoms do you intend on checking out in 2012?
Homeland, American Horror Story, Downtown Abbey, The IT Crowd, Seinfeld, Frasier, Up All Night and a lot more.
What fandoms do you think you might let go of in 2011 unless things significantly improve?
All of my shows are in good shape thankfully.
What fandoms do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?
Glee, Parks & Rec, Modern Family, Mad Men, Cougar Town, The Office (which happened this season without Michael).
What show impressed you most in 2011?
Parks & Recreation!!! Wow. I am so blown away by the last two episodes of S4 that I still can barely talk about them without making flaily hands. Just perfect.
Breaking Bad was also ridiculously amazing for S4. I was on the edge of my seat every week and everything built up explosively.
What show impressed you least in 2011?
I've liked all my shows this year but I am a little disappointed that Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory haven't been that funny lately.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
More Parks & Rec definitely. The Hunger Games movie. New Mad Men episodes. New Cougar Town (with a party beforehand) episodes.
I have to make another plug for everyone to watch Parks & Recreation because it is just THAT good. Best show of the year, hands down. Alan Sepinwall also put it as #1 and describes it much better than I could (spoilers taken out):
"But overwhelming joy is a visceral reaction, too, and that's the feeling I get these days watching "Parks and Recreation." Yes, it can be a gut-bustingly funny comedy..., and that alone is an impressive achievement. But what puts "Parks and Rec" over the top for me is the sheer level of happiness it creates in me as I watch it. It's a political comedy with a fundamentally optimistic viewpoint. It generates most of its comedy not by mocking its characters for being inept..., but by showing the ways in which they are incredible. It's a show that's overflowing with love and understanding for all of its characters..., one that can be unbelievably romantic and sweet about things that would be so easy to just mock, ... In 2011, no show gave me greater pleasure to watch, week after week, than "Parks and Recreation." Original Article
S1 is not the best but after that the show is AWESOME! Go watch.
