Goodbye 2007!
Well it's been a hell of a year. Definitely on the list of one of my worst but it did have some of the best highlights for me so there's at least that. I usually name my years and this one is called The Year of The Office for obvious reasons. Almost to my one year anniversary and I still love the show like whoa. It helped a lot when other parts of my life weren't so great. Here's the meme everyone's been doing and I've been enjoying reading.
1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Swam in the ocean in January, went to Escapade, went to the Paley Festival, saw a special preview screening of a rough cut of a movie and met the director/main actress, went to Minnesota, met
clayangel,
indybaggins and
blackstray and road tripped from LA to SF with them, went to Massachusetts and saw/met Randy Harrison and fellow QaF fans, submitted a vid for VIVIDCON, had technical problems with a vid of mine playing at VVC, went to New Jersey, went to a convention with actors/writers from a show (Office con!), join the picket line and meet many more LJ/fandomers and celebs.
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Well I vidded better but not necessarily more. Half and half. I will keep that resolution (Vid more, vid better) and add read more, listen to more new music and procrastinate less (haha but I try to at least include it every year).
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. States visited were California (more of a home than a visit so NY on the other end), Minnesota, Illinois (as usual), Massachusetts and New Jersey.
6. Did you have any crushes?
Other than TV crushes, no.
7. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Career direction and more money. A vid in Club Vivid.
8. What dates from 2007 will remain etched in your memory, and why?
I really don't remember dates that well...the only one that sticks out is October 27 and 28 when I had the time of my life with happy Office fans and the people who put on the show. I think my hands wore out from clapping so much. Man, I still have to do a con write up for that and VVC *sigh*
9. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Submitting a vid to Premieres at Vividcon. So much hard work but so incredibly worth it. I will never be nervous again! Also making it out to California before winter was great too.
10. What is your biggest failing of 2007?
Everything. No, just kidding. Doing horrible in school and not getting out earlier and just general horrible procrastination and stupid decisions. Really stupid ones at times.
11. Did you suffer illness of injury?
Just a cold/sore throat in November.
12. What was the best thing you bought?
My iPod touch although the circumstances of its buying sucked.
13. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Generally most of my Flist but I'm giving a special mention to
lianri who always supported me in tough times.
14. Whose behavior made you appalled and disgusted?
The AMPTP. Disgusting greed on display.
15. Where did most of your money go?
Travel, conventions and TV DVD sets about sums it up.
16. What did you get really really excited about?
VIVIDCON! Escapade, The Office Paley festival, The Office Convention, going back to California.
17. What song will always remind you of 2007?
The Office theme song. I never tire of it.
18. Compared to this time last year are you?
a) Happier or Sadder? Sadder.
b) Thinner or Fatter? About the same.
c) Richer or Poorer? Poorer
19. What do you wish you'd done more of?
First half: Study. Second half: Vid.
20. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Procrastination times infinity.
21. How will you be spending New Years Eve?
Chatting on AIM, watching TV shows (The Wire, How I Met Your Mother most likely). First New Year's Eve away from home! And it's pretty boring...but tomorrow I'm going to the Rose Parade and to the Santa Monica Pier so it all evens out.
22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Just with The Office and various TV characters. But no person no.
23. How many one-night stands?
None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
The Office, forever and always.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Kind of, yes.
26. What was the best book that you read?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Nothing stands out but let's say The Feeling.
28. What did you want and get?
A whole bunch of TV dvd sets,
29. What did you want and not get?
Better grades, a job I liked (times two) and more money.
30. What was your favorite film of the year?
Dan in Real Life by a hair over Juno because of STEVE. I love that man. Saw it twice which I never do.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 20 and I mostly relaxed, watched my favorite TV and had cake.
32. What one thing would have made your year measurably more satisfying?
One thing? A lot more money solves many problems all in one. Or just finding what I want to do with my life and getting on the path to do it.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Khakis/jeans and a nice t-shirt always works well. Or comfy black pajama pants.
34. What kept you sane?
My friends, The Office, fandom, TV in general and vids.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Steve Carell and recently, Tim Gunn somewhat.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Nothing really. Stuff in The Wire? Oh, the strike! Yeah I'm still angry about that.
37. Who did you miss?
My friends when I'm or they're away.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
I couldn't begin to name all the awesome new people I met on LJ this past year. The Office fandom in particular is fabulous.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
Don't confuse wants with needs. And be happy with what you have and don't try for things you can't get.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Cause people gonna see you
How they wanna see you
People gonna rate you
People gonna hate you
People gonna shove you
People gonna love you
People gonna do whatever
Makes them feel they own you better
Cause everyone knows we're strange
So why do you feel ashamed
Everyone knows we're different
So why do you feel ashamed
We love you all the same
Auf wiedersehen, 2007! Hopefully I can erase all but the good from my memory. Happy New Year everyone!
