I hate this world.

So the Pushing Daisies ratings are in and they're horrible. Fuck.

I thought I was over being worried about the ratings last year, it did alright but now...6.3 million viewers overall, 2 million 18-49, 1.7 18-34. To have a decent chance at renewal, they need at least 3.5 million for 18-49. What is wrong with the world? You can blame it on marketing/promotion or the world in terms of how can people not watch such a perfect show but either way it really sucks. I feel so powerless like nothing I can do can change this and I really, really, really don't want to lose this show. I'll willingly work in a save our show campaign, it does feel like The Office in early S2 with no one seeing it but I don't have a lot of hope it'll work.

I'm seriously crying about this. I fell in love with the show again last night and I love it more than almost anything else. It's like this beautiful, fantasy, imaginative world that I can go into, a wonderful fairytale like the books of my youth. I wish I could live there sometimes, it's that perfect. It has one of the most romantic, charming couples I've ever seen that make me smile so much that it warms my heart, the most brilliant and witty dialogue, the most original and uniquely decorative sets ever, funny and delightful characters, singing and musical references and a dark, mysterious edge. Basically, EVERYTHING. It's made of hearts and flowers and love and pretty and I want to keep it safe so no one can hurt it. This must be what Firefly felt like. God, I'd give up all my other shows minus The Office to keep this show on air. It's not fair! It's only had a half a season, at least SGA got five seasons.

I don't want to lose my show :(

Noooooooooooooooo! I love that show SO MUCH, and last night's ep was fantastic! *wail*

It had to've been Bones that beat it; it sure as hell couldn't have been Knight Rider or New Adventures of Old Christine, right? Because those two weren't doing well, either.

I'm hating the whole ratings-driven network TV industry right now. Everything that seemed to be on the verge of cancellation when the strike happened, and was given another chance, seems to be tanking. I'm fully expecting the same thing to happen to Reaper.

Oh viewers, why so unimaginative? *sigh*

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I KNOW! It just keeps getting worse and worse.

Bones AND Knight Rider beat it :( It tied New Adventures for 18-49 viewers. Not good :( The bad part is ABC has a lot of midseason shows so it can get canceled for one of them in case they do better.

Me too. The strike really messed things up and there hasn't been enough promoting or something is what I think. What is wrong with people?! I just can't believe it. Great shows should not be faring this way, there should be some way to save them even if they have to go to another network.

Knight Rider beat Pushing Daisies??? OMG, you've GOT to be kidding. The pilot popped up on my TiVo because Val Kilmer was listed in the cast, and I actually watched it to see him, not knowing he was the freaking *voice* of freaking KITT (*bangs head*) and, wow, it was flat-out AWFUL. One of the worst shows I've seen in YEARS.

I weep for the future, I really do. Jesus!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, I couldn't believe it. I'm guessing those ratings will tank after a few episodes and it was only by a million but still. Oh and wait, Christine beat it too :( How does mediocrity/bad beat Greatness?

When Dancing with the Stars and American Idol are regarded as the best rating winners, so do I.

Oh and wait, Christine beat it too

*weeps*

I seriously do not get people sometimes.

[identity profile] crickets.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not so good. But don't panic! *shelters you* Hopefully things will swing upwards from here.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I would hope so except it's the premiere and usually that's the best one. The only possible save is if people just forgot it was on or there was something else that other people were watching. ABC's just doing so well right now that it's hard to equal their numbers unless they take Emmys into consideration (PD has its only Emmys). 1.5 million viewers just seems hard to get from here and it lost viewers after a half hour so it's not looking good :(

I'll help with the "save our show" campaign!

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I could never start it but hopefully someone will. The more the better though!

That's terrible. I have class on Wednesday night, so I *still* have not been able to watch the premiere, but it really is such a beautiful, magical show. I hate that it's not getting the audience it deserves.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You must! My favorite premiere and so incredibly amazing. It really sucks.

[identity profile] chasarumba.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I love PD as well and was very sad to read the news...such a bummer :(

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah it's so sad :( I really was not expecting it at all, I thought it gained with more people discovering the show.

[identity profile] illusionaltzu.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It's such a shame that it's so hard to get people to watch good shows, yet crap like Grey's Anatomy and Law & Order just drivel on forever.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! What does it take? What bothers me the most is that it's so original, something NEW and people just go to the same old standbys of cop, medical, law, etc. I don't get it.

[identity profile] countessmary.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man. I thought it did better last night but I guess that was just wishful thinking on my part. Must vid pushing daisies to make myself feel better. *pouts*

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too! And yes, I'm going to as well :) Vidding helps everything! Although it may make me a bit sad in this case.

I think most things would be down after the strike? I know I'm only watching three shows as they air that I watched last year and one new one (which is The Colbert Report and not technically new), I think it's probably too soon to worry.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah a lot of things with younger audiences are but not by this much. I hope so but I don't expect that much to change. I just hope ABC gives it some time to grow.

[identity profile] nightchik.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I am so upset by SCC cancellation rumors, so I feel your pain.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, tell me about it. Two great shows that I don't understand why they're not finding an audience.

[identity profile] carolelombard.livejournal.com 2008-10-03 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
*Hugs* I went through that with Sports Night. It hurt like hell.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
:( I can deal with it much better if the show at least has a fair chance, three seasons minimum, maybe two if quality goes down but only getting one season would devastate me with this show.

[identity profile] clayangel.livejournal.com 2008-10-03 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
But if it's being Tivo'd so people can watch both that and Bones...doesn't that count for something, too? And Nightrider's ratings will go down after the first night, I'm sure. Has anyone seen that show? Is it any good? I say we hold out a couple more weeks and see the trend before worrying too much.

[identity profile] anoel.livejournal.com 2008-10-06 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The Tivo numbers don't go up that much and they usually aren't that concerned abbout those numbers. I hope they will. I heart Knight Rider is crap (unsurprisingly) so it's possible. I just doubt the numbers will go up by much at all.
