Marry me, Doris Egan

Can Doris Egan write every episode of House from now on? Seriously, she's the best at it and every episode by her makes me happy. In honor of her amazing episode of House tonight, for the first time ever I changed my journal title to "Doris Egan is my God" because she really, really is. I think she's my favorite writer now that Dollhouse isn't going as well as I hoped.

HOUSE OMG! I am massively in love. Have to watch it a few more times before I have more to say but briefly

WILSON'S BROTHER!!! Wow. Finally, we have backstory...so amazing. And Wilson invites House to visit him! Talk about special. One of my favorite moments is when Wilson just smiles at House's comment about the ducklings. He so gets him and loves him and adores him. And their fight, awwww. House stalking and being possessive about Wilson is always fun and as I have anecdotal evidence to prove, being possessive of your guy friends may mean you're gay...it happens! God, that end. All the super interesting talk about why they're friends and how Wilson needs to give and receive honesty was great. HOUSE INVITED WILSON TO PRINCETON. Soooooo in love even at the start, yes he thinks you're charming, House don't worry.

In the end, House loves Wilson and Wilson loves House and they will always live happily ever after, the end.

I seem to be spoiled by the TV gods lately. First, The Office AND 30 Rock are amazing and fill me with love (more on both of those in another post-still catching up) and now we have House coming first circle with a pre-celebration last week and a post celebration this week. I am in heaven. And I really could use it, last week being what it was and having so much to catch up with. THIS reminds me why I'm doing all this, why I want to go into the industry, why I will do whatever I can to save my shows and all the others that need saving.

So I'm home from Escapade thankfully. Not that I didn't have an AMAZING time there but getting back was really hard and long. Everytime I completed a leg of my journey I went, yatta! \o/ because it was so great. Only one travel curse incident at least. Got home at five yesterday and after checking my email slept for fifteen hours. I definitely needed it. But the con was SO worth it and I met some wonderful people and reconnected with others while going to interesting panels and watching lots of vids. It just filled my soul in the way that only fannish interaction can. I tried to explain this in a meeting today and it just reminded me how lucky I am to have people who get what being a fan and a slash fan is and why it's so important.

Also more good news: my computer speakers work again! Randomly they started working which is the best news I've heard yet. And I may yet get some money which would really help with the money woes.

And perfect lyrics for my favoritist slash ship of them all, House/Wilson:

And I have to speculate that God himself
Did make us into corresponding shapes like
Puzzle pieces from the clay

And by God, I mean Doris :D

ETA: If anyone would rec me the most romantic House/Wilson fics you know of, I'd love you (almost) as much as House loves Wilson.

Yay! I'm so glad you got to go to the con -- sounded like you needed it.

I really, really did. I feel much better now. Cons rule!

What aren't you liking about Dollhouse? Maybe it's just me, but that kind of show never interests me; it's almost secret agent-like, and I'm just really not into that.

But I like Dollhouse. I've always loved Joss' humor, and that's no exception with this show. The episodic plots are hit or miss, and I could really do without the FBI plotline (as of now; that could change depending on what's done with him, of course) but the running plot of Echo and her remembering and her likeness to Alpha, and, of course, Alpha's running plot both very much intrigue me.

All in all, it reminds me of another little show that ran on Friday nights when it first premiered. That one had shitty ratings in the beginning, too, but ended up with nine seasons and two movies. And let's face it, I've always loved the X-Files, but its first season mythology was shit. It needed time to grow into what it's known for today. Of course that was 16 years ago, and I don't know if execs have the patience now that they did then, but X-Files was Fox's flagship for nine years. If they give it a chance, Dollhouse could be just as strong, in my opinion. I guess we'll just have to see.

I'm just not seeing the humor. I could forgive almost everything if there was actual sparkling dialogue but I'm not seeing it. The other thing is I love quirky, lovable characters he's so good at and this show just doesn't have them. I get that it's part of the premise and I'm willing to wait but that's why I'm not connecting. I am intrigued, like you, with Echo remembering things and trying to find her identity along with the Alpha plotline but I need more to make me love a show.

The difference between this show and Firefly is I LOVELOVEDLOVED Firefly from the very beginning although Buffy did take awhile to grow on me so I'm giving Joss time with that since apparently it does get better. I have no idea if Dollhouse will get better, I hope it does but I'm very cynical about Fox so we'll see. I still kind of like Joss, it's just not love yet.

House was amazing last night.

It was! Wish it was always like that.

I think Doris is by far the best writer on the staff because she is a continuity JUNKIE (except for some facts that just don't add up). She took this little piece of info from an early first-season episode and brought it back. She brought around the losing people thing from "Birthmarks", which by necessity evokes the whole Amber arc. She's just good at making the show seem like a complete world with a unique history, including the backstory she puts in for all the characters.

We're just blessed that she also happens to love House/Wilson, so we reap most of the benefits! :D

She really, really is. To be fair, people have been bugging them about the brother plotline but still, I'm so glad she was the one to do it. She definitely gets the characters and finds ways of making them tick.

Yes, we are SO very lucky! Of course that's part of her appeal :)
