Fandom Love (Mad Men, Project Runway, Adam/Kris) + College

Mad Men's back YAY! I got a download from the hotel and watched it Monday morning and have resisted getting too into it before I finished all my VVC writeups (okay I do have a couple more coming but those are not as much write asap). But here's my episode thoughts on the third season premiere!

The second I saw them showing the Elliot touching Sal's wineglass scene I was REALLY REALLY EXCITED for this episode and couldn't see what the show had in store for us.

Wow, I love how this show can make everyday objects and tasks beautiful. That stove shot was just gorgeous.

I love how we get to see how Don was born even if it's just his perception of how to happened. I love him taking out the clump in the milk just like he's the mess that's not smooth.

Oh Betty! So I take it this might be the girl child that Betty identifies with? And only she can give a lesbian comment like that and have it just be Betty. I love that Don is comfortable with creating fantasies as that's only too true.

Peggy in her new office!! So happy to see her. Of course she has to deal with secretaries who don't respect her. I really look forward to seeing her have to overcome

New Cooper painting! Of course it really does represent their business in negative ways.

"Oh, it's that meeting." LOL I love Sterling!

I love the Fuck You exit. Who doesn't want to do that?

New British guy is very hot so of course he's an ass. Of course Joan is so much better and awesome in taking him down (even if accidentally in the end).

Oh Pete, will never stop being a kiss ass. It is hilarious to see him fumble around mentioning threesomes. Aww dancing! You know, I still think Pete is slime but at least he's not so bad anymore and I can enjoy him more now.

The Ken as Head of Accounts was surprising although he handled it much better than Pete did. I thought they were going to see how they reacted and give it to the one they liked the best at first.

SAL!! And Don!! My two favorite men, yay. I thought Sal was talking to Don at first when he said "My oh my what a big bottle you have." A girl can dream. "He never tires of putting his name on other people's things." Pot calling the kettle much? Aww poor Sal doesn't get all the stewardesses like Don does.

I love Pete's and Ken's conversation with them both thinking only they were the Head of Accounts and the other didn't know. So funny how nice they were being.

And of course Don enjoys his lying just as both Don and Sal lie (or omit things) to their wives. "I keep going to a lot of places and ending up somewhere I've already been." I love that works for Don always goes back to his wife as well as that he always ends up cheating in the same way.

Bellhop elevator love! I saw those checking out looks.

I was bummed that Don cheated once again but it did fit on his birthday and with how he was conceived. At least he mostly fell into it. The engaged, last chance thing reminded me of the Pilot Pete/Peggy scene with her leaning on the wall and everything. I love that Don can actually tell someone who his real birthday is though.

Sal!! I've flopped on the bed so much so I've been there well. I love that Sal being too hot inspired more hotness. I love how Sal says thank you. Feet shot of love! God, this show is pretty. OMG KISSING!!! God when I first this, I was totally freaking out, if only inside because I had roommates around me. So much HOLY SHIT this is actually happening there. And Sal kisses him back! And puts his arms around him, god. I love how opening Sal's vest as a metaphor as allowing him to be free and of course the anvilicious exploding pen metaphor (love). I love that the bellboy is more experienced than him and knows just how to do it. I still can't believe how much they showed and how they were actually going to GO THERE. And Sal's oh, god/jesus comments were so perfect. What can you really say to that? Mmm bonus kissing. Fuck, that was hot.

God damn fire alarm of COURSE had to go off. Probably a good thing though because it was getting to be a little bit more than I can take. And I trust we'll get more at some point...Mainly I was glad that my WILDEST DREAMS of Sal kissing another man and starting to have sex with him actually happened in the PREMIERE of S3. Wow. I am just a sucker for repressed finds discovery especially in terms of being gay (this is why I love the episode Captain Jack Harkness in Torchwood so much.

AND THEN DON FINDS OUT HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! I so did not expect that. Sal is soooooo lucky it was Don that found out (because no one keeps a secret like Don, he's got too many of his own) but even so, I was terrified he'd react badly or if he'd tell someone.

Hee, Moneypenny reference. I did get that.

God, it's so much fun noticing all of Don's off looks at Sal and Sal being careful to shake the guy's hand quickly and Sal and Don's little look at his, "I have a wife."

Aww I've never felt so poor Pete before but it is fun to see him be so petulant. I loved hearing all the old accounts being mentioned. I am looking forward to the Pete and Ken fighting this season. Love how Ken doesn't want to play along though. And of course Pete thinks everything he says is an ulterior motive of trying to take him down. They should hold hands though!

Awkward plane ride...God, the completely honest was terrifying, I was sure Don was going to ask him about it and Sal's face was just so scared. And then Don saves the day with metaphors! Limit Your Exposure is just brilliant. Sal's relief just cascades off of him. I have never loved Don more than I did in this scene because no matter how much of an ass he can be, he's basically a good person and more openmindeded than most.

"A little excited, a little shocked." Just like Sal! God, I love this show. Seems Sal will definitely not be going back to pretending completely.

I love that Pete comes running to whine to Don and Don could care less about Roger being there.

LOVE Moneypenny being taken down!

Not a fan of new Bobby, why couldn't we keep the old kid? :( Aww Sally. "I will always come home." And that sums up Don and Betty pretty much. I love that Don's infidelity comes back to haunt him with Sally and that he can't even speak with his own birth and infidelity hanging there. Beautiful circular narrative in this episode. I'm guessing he had just come home from being with another woman and that made it even harder.

I love this show. I love that it doesn't do what I expect, I love that it uses metaphors, I love the slowness, I love the prettyness, I love all the characters (or love to hate) and I love the history of it. And I'm so psyched that we're going to get more Sal this season! As I said at VVC, if this is the way fall TV is going to treat me, I'm going to be a very happy person this fall.

It is SO good to see the Mad Men fandom giving Sal some love. Makes me super happy :D

Bryan Batt at Times Square

I am so jealous of the people who got to see Mad Men in Times Square. I love seeing Bryan Batt there and the communal viewing is so cool. I wish there was a lot more of that kind of opportunity in the world.

More Mad Men tonight OMGYAY!

And then Project Runway came back which I'm super excited about!

Yay new season! I really needed the break because now I'm feeling happy about the show after feeling like it was manipulated last year with Kenley getting in. But I'm really liking all the contestants this year so I'm excited. They certainly are pretty this year but of course the cutest ones, Mitchell and Ari are in the bottom two and one is voted out. Ah well.

They're in LA!!! I was so excited to see them in my city and even more to see them on the red carpet. At the EMMYS! It makes me happy with city love. FIDM! Our Parsons, thank you. They NEED to go to Rodeo Drive at some point, they have to. Perfect challenge to begin with.

I love the first episode and getting to know the designers and finding my favorites. Johnny's lamenting was pretty lame and attention getting (no offense intended, good for him in getting past his addiction) but seeing Tim Gunn comfort him was very cute. "Tim's a god everyone" Too true!

Lindsey Lohan was a hilarious choice but it worked for her being famous, being on the red carpet a lot and actually giving decent commentary.I loved Qrystal's dress if only for the purple but the non purple material was definitely overused, she only needed a bit of it. Not many dresses stood out for me, it was a bit boring for the most part. Carol's was pretty cool though. I don't know what Arie was thinking of, that was just waay out there and not flattering. If you want to do that, do it AFTER they know you're great. Disco soccer ball lol. I did like Johnny's dress, it's very pretty and I did like the red with the black lining.

All in all, I'm looking forward to the new season and can't wait to see what they have in store for us! Plus, more Tim Gunn <3

And then I've fallen more and more in love with Adam, Kris and Adam/Kris. Been reading some wonderful fanfic at night. My favorite so far is Apples Are Not The Only Fruit (Adam/Kris AU, NC-17) which makes me SO HAPPY. Like watching Save The Last Dance over and over again, bouncy squee kind of delight. It just perfectly captures fan squee and has a wonderful slow buildup and is basically perfect. They're just SO CUTE! It reminded me of Seduction of the Desert Prince and not just because of the fruit love. Also I loved The Fairytale Story of Adam and Kris (Picspam with captions) which is filled with hearts and flowers and sparkly unicorns!

I am just experiencing am overload of fannish squee right now with vidding/Vividcon, Mad Men, Project Runway, Adam/Kris and yes, The West Wing, I am still madly quite in love with my show. To add to that, now that Vividcon is over, it is beginning to hit me that I'm going back to college in a week OMG! Well, Friday actually. I'm the most excited I think I have ever been this year mostly because I am doing a major I'm really interested in learning about AND I have my own room (and soon car eeeeee). And I know I'm so very privileged for getting all this which is why I'm so over the moon in getting it. I just really *need* a place to myself even if it's only to be able to ask over friends and not have to apologize to a roommate for it or to be able to dance crazy and not fear a roommate walking in. Plus I'm super excited to be back in California and SoCal and with a car, I can actually explore it so much better! And this year I really want to focus on creative pursuits and getting marriage equality in CA and I'm super excited about doing both. I'm going to the OutWest Bootcamp at USC in September and I can't wait to learn more about running campaigns (in terms of overturning Prop 8).

I can just feel that this year is going to be amazing and I feel so much more in control of who I am and what I want to be. Getting my VVC reports done for once helped show I can get things accomplished even overwhelming, tempted to procrastinate ones. I know I can create the life I want and I'm excited to be on this journey and just, yay life! It is truly an awesome thing right now.

Hi, so, I'm kinda looking for fannish talk about Mad Men b/c most of the internets talk I can find about it doesn't come from a media-fan perspective & the disconnect is starting to grate.

Do you mind if I friend you?

Indeed.
