So I fell in love with Orange is the New Black back in July and was super happy to find a new OTP with Piper/Alex. I needed a way to express all my feels for the ship and while listening to this song, realized it was perfect for them. I had so much fun getting to go through all of their scenes again and wanted to make a vid that would put all the happy clips together to give me a pick me up whenever I watched it. I was a little worried about not having a enough happy clips but it turns out I was fine :) Mostly I had a good time making it and I was happy to have a chance to premiere it at Wincon where it seemed to get a good reaction.

So this vid was about 90% made in August and September 2010 after I came home from Vividcon and was super inspired to vid. The song was obviously the kids for me and I looove Kanye so I was excited to get a chance to vid him and a rap song. Making this vid was one of the most emotional vid processes ever as I rewatched S4, cried a lot and then clipped S4, cried a lot and then laid clips down and cried some more. That season and plotline was my favorite and I wanted to show the failure of the institutions and people to save them no matter how they tried as that was the most frustrating part of it all. Both killabeez and elynross were kind enough to give me some beta for the vid but they suggested some changing to the ending which was hard to hear for me since I had the vision of the vid for awhile. I took a break from the vid and eventually got distracted by Festivids and then lost all my Wire files. In any case, I still had the project file and when my other Challenge ideas didn't work out and I had limited time, I figured this would be a good vid for many of the themes with my first being Fuck You, then IDIC and Transformation. I replaced some clips from earlier seasons and filled in a few black spots and was able to get this vid in for Challenge. I'm mostly happy with it although it's weird having made most of it awhile ago. I'm just glad to finally have finished it and have released my first (emphasis on first) Wire vid!

So I first heard this song on a Songza playlist before it became popular on the radio (really!) and I realize it's a perfect expression of my love for Glee. It gave me a great oppurtunity to vid the dancing scenes again and work on vidding faster than I usually do plus I really wanted to dance to it at Club Vivid. I had fun listening and watching all my favorite songs again although clipping took forever (perfectionist here) and general life upheaval made it take a lot longer than I wanted so I had to cut the song done especially when I realized I had less meta stuff to say about the show. I was happy to be able to put a little bit of the love the fans including I have for the show as well as focus on one of my favorite parts, the gay. I wish I had more time and space to put all my favorite dance scenes in this but it was good to put some of it in there.

Well it's been a long time coming for this one. Basically in the days before Vividcon 2012 I marathoned Homeland in a day and fell in love with it. In the airport going to Vividcon, I heard this song and instantly realized it was the Carrie vidsong I was waiting for. The song is one of my favorite songs from Florence for the emotion and dynamics within it and I connected with it physically for how perfect it was for Carrie. I was so inspired, I started vidding the middle section during Vividcon. When Homeland S2 came back, it inspired me to keep vidding the song but I got sidetracked by my Swan Queen love and then Festivids. I started working on it again after Festivids but didn't end up finishing until before the VidUKon deadline. It was really great to work with a song with so much speed changes and get to vid something a little different from what I usually do. Especially fun is it's for one of my favorite characters ever, I had so much fun falling in love with Carrie all over again with this video.

So back in July last year, I somehow got it into my head to set Disney songs to Game of Thrones. To my shock...they totally fit most of the time. After thinking up lots of songs and getting vid ideas to the show, I somehow decided it would be a good idea to just vid them all. Because I love my serious Game of Thrones vids but sometimes I just want to make some fun vids for my show. So I started vidding Circle of Life as an overview of the beginning of the show and while watching Disney movies in preparation, I realized the opening Circle of Life scene has SO MANY similarities to the show which made it extra fun. Of course because I'm in love with the show, I still take it pretty sincerely in a, my heart is full of love for all of them way, but I understand a laughing reaction as well. I vidded most of this during the summer and a little during the fall and it was 90% done around there so when Festivids took over my life, I decided it would be my Escapade premiere. Plus I really wanted to see all the pretty landscape shots on the big screen so I was looking forward to that. I intend to make this a Disney set to Game of Thrones series which I call, You Win or You Sing but it'll take me 10+ years while waiting for all the footage.

So I really wanted to make a Kaldrick vid and jarrow really wanted a Kaldrick vid so this was the perfect Festivids fit. Except I needed to find a song. I wanted to find a hip hop song or a Frank Ocean mashup to a hip hop song but I couldn't find anything. So I was listening to some music on my iPhone when I heard Beautiful in LA which I immediately pegged as a LA Complex vidsong. Upon repeated listening, I realized it actually fit perfectly for Kaldrick even if the music wasn't quite *him*. I put off listening to the song once I got my assignment because I wanted to vid it so much but after golive and vidchat, I was inspired and started working on making it as a treat even if I was unsure about time. Thankfully it vidded itself and most of it was done in vidfarr. It was SO much fun to vid the LA shots (which combined with the song seemed a dead giveaway guesswise) Kaaaaldrick and his feeelings.

As soon as I heard this song, I knew I had to make it for Swan Queen because it was SO perfect for them. What better time then the Once Upon a Time Holiday Exchange? It was a lot of fun to make as there wasn't too much clipping and it mostly flowed right out of me. I had to wait for the midseason finale but I was SO glad I did. It basically sums up my feelings about why Regina and Emma are so perfect for each other and so acts as a ship manifesto of sorts. I came out of this even more believing that Swan Queen really is...true love.

So I never get matched up with the people I expect for Festivids so I was all, well there's no way I'll get matched up with Eli...so I get matched up with Eli. YEP ELI WAS MY ASSIGNMENT! I wake up Festivids morning to elipie's text that assignments were out and I check mine to see that mine was elipie. OF COURSE. I burst out laughing cause I did not see it coming and had no prepared assignment. Thus began a Festivid full of LIES. So I basically couldn't work on my actual assignment on the many weekends I vidded together with elipie (and sometimes rhoboat). I got matched on Breaking Bad and I had two ideas for that, both to pop songs and one to One Direction. I had a lot of it clipped so I figured it wouldn't be too hard. I started trying to vid it...nothing. I just was not feeling it. So I started looking at some of the other sources, all of which I could possibly do. I even had vague notions of pulling a franzeska and vidding ALL of the sources. Haha no, I'm not that crazy and I didn't have the time. Now hanging out with Eli taught me two things: she REALLY expected a Breaking Bad vid and she reeeally wanted a Boy Meets World vid and she DID NOT EXPECT IT AT ALL. Me: Challenge Accepted.

So I saw a few episodes of Boy Meets World in my youth and liked it but hadn't seen it in forever. When I watched it in high school, I remembered slashing Cory/Shawn (and Eric/Jack but less) so if the vid was for me, that's what I would be making (and in watching this, let me just say: THEY ARE SUCH BOYFRIENDS!!!! OMG). But Eli wanted: Oh my god, TOPANGA. TOPANGA/COREY. TOPANGA/STUDIES. TOPANGA/LIFE. I just love her to death. I would basically either really like a character study of her or a vid kind of telling the story of her relationship with Corey (which I know is daunting, but if not during Festivids, when else can I beg for something like this to be made for me?). So I decided to do both because I do aim to please :) I found a song, Curiosity by Carly Rae Jepsen which pinged me for Topanga and I thought would be perfect for a Topanga/Studies vid...until I kept listening to it and I realized that this vid wanted to be a Topanga/Cory vid too. Okay then. Also with the announcement of Girl Meets World, I figured I had to watch it all so I could check out the show and really understand the history of it. If not now, then I'd probably never do it.

I started watching the show and realized clipping it was going to be a very long process. I may have...not started doing it til the second week of December (thanks in part to the OUAT exchange) which turned out not to be the best decision although in my defense I was still set on doing Breaking Bad until then. It was a lot of fun to watch the show and see the growth of the characters and start having feels for all of them (Eric is KING of Surprise!Crying FEELS with a side of Issues!Shawn). The show does have its problems (heteronormativity, gender role issues and the like) but it was still very cute. Topanga turned out to be much awesomer than I remembered although there was not nearly as much clips of Topanga/Books as I had hoped. And I had fun squeeing about Cory/Shawn's BOYFRIEND love. Even Topanga/Cory managed to win me over with the cuteness especially in those last clips in the short version of this vid. Which yeah, I was only able to finish about three seasons of clipping and vidding and 2 minutes of the song before the deadline especially with my pretend assignment taking a lot of my time. But I was hoping to replace the vid with the full version during the treat time...which did not happen thanks to tech problems and vid farr on another treat.

So then I promised myself I would make the full thing during the time between golive and reveals. It took me 5 days to start but I finally got around to finishing it. I already had S4 clipped so that meant watching the last episodes of S5 and then watching S6 and S7. Not too hard, I told myself...with work, relaxing on the weekend and slow vidding, it came down to the last few days. Basically I watched S6 and S7 in the last three days, taking the bus to work so I could watch more and taking clip notes to make clipping easier and fast. The vidding actually came along pretty easy although I struggled with my usual problem of trying to shove ALL the clips on the timeline and not giving them some room to breathe. Still working on that. But I did manage to watch all seven seasons of Boy Meets World and make a Topanga vid of it so I'm ultimately happy with this Festivids.

So here are both versions of Curiosity, GoLive and Reveals day. I hope it was a fun nostalgic trip through memory lane :) And P.S: if you want to be reminded about Boy Meets World without watching seven seasons, try the last two episodes as there's some clip show mixed in with a lot of great clips (ALSO FEELS). Also LYING TO YOUR VIDDING BUDDY IS TERRIBLE AND I HATE IT! It was haaaaard especially a big secret like that. Thanks to my roomies for putting up with me talking about it because they were the only people I told in the interest of super secret keeping.

So this is NOT the serious Regina/Emma vid I've been working on for the last three weeks but is a fluff vid I made to cure my vidder's block. It came out relatively fast, only about 6 days although I did have most of the clipping already done. I have learned it is great fun to vid your shipper feels...oh wait, I know that already :)

Also it can totally be blamed on elipie.

So if you haven't heard by now, I LOVE Game of Thrones. All it took was reading the books and watching S2 and I started having major Arya Stark feelings. The kind of feels that make her your number one female character of all time, so much love. In order to keep myself from endlessly reblogging Arya fanart on Tumblr and annoying all my friends talking about how ARYA IS THE BEST, I made this vid which successfully allowed me to release all my emotions. It originated when I saw a post on Tumblr with lots of gifs of Arya and Ned which melted my heart and made me realize all she wants now is to go hooome. So I started looking for a song that had a "trying to find my way back home" theme which reminded me of "Dead and Gone" by T.I. which led me looking to find a cover which I found on Youtube. It was a little slower than I was going for at first but I really loved being able to vid the more emotional part of her storyline. This vid makes even me cry (especially the Jon Snow parts) and I just identify with Arya way, way too much (I'm okay with that). It was SO hard to keep this a secret for Challenge but I'm glad I did! I've never had a more emotional vidwatching experience than that.
