I really loved the movie, A Simple Favor and knew I wanted to vid it for Club Femslash this year particularly focusing on Blake Lively's suits. I had decided on a song but it was too long for me and I couldn't make it work with the limited amount of time I had for it. I decided to use this song instead and make a short vidlet about Emily being confident and generally hot. It turned out there was a little more structure and narrative I wanted to add to the vid and I was glad I was able to make it work with the limited amount of time I had left. I added a few effects to match the music better and I was very happy with how that turned out. And let me say, it is so much easier to vid when you very much enjoy looking at the people involved ;) |

Last year, I fell in love with the show, Everything Sucks! on Netflix (watch it for great 90s era feels!) and once I had finished, I realized I needed to vid it to let out my feels. I had been listening to Lilly Brown's cover of Treat You Better which I had first heard at TGIF/F 2018 when I realized the song worked perfectly for Kate/Eveline and I couldn't wait to vid it. It was pretty easy to vid about 80% of it but once I got to the parts where I needed to include the guy, I stalled it and set it aside for awhile. Once I realized the TGIF/F 2019 vidshow deadline was getting closer, I opened up the project and forced myself to finish it which went a lot easier than I expected thankfully. I had to switch around a few parts but I thankfully found some additional ship clips I had missed the first time which helped. |

I began working on this vid in the fall of 2016 when I was dealing with depression (I thought it was situational but it was deeper than that) and thought it would be interesting to see if I could find a way to vid what I was going through. I was turning 29 which made turning 30 real to me and I began to realize that I wasn't even close to achieving what I wanted to create: a happy life with a great career, romantic partner, best friends and satisfaction with who I am as a person. I've been an ambitious, idealistic person since I was a kid and not living up to my expectations for myself at an age where I thought I would have made some real progress with my life was terrible for me (ie wasted potential). I started with using some clips from my favorite vids (later I remastered them with actual show footage) and important shows to me that stood out to me with the lyrics and what I wanted to show and as time went on, I would return to the vid and keep adding clips to it. It helped me a lot to process my emotions (basically viddding as therapy) as I felt that least my bad feelings could create something beautiful.
I wanted to make a few comments on the clips and general arc of the vid since it's so personal that not everything might come through. First of all, Matilda was an important book/movie to me growing up as I was a big reader who felt alone (and later bullied) so it was important to me to start with that and the quote is from The Office from a child talking to Michael Scott and I always connected deeply to it in my life even ten years ago. I've spent a lot of nights curled up in a ball on my bed crying about my life so I strongly related to those clips in the vid and also love climbing up ledges like Brian and Root, not to jump (although safely that's fun) but to feel the adrenaline of being up high and trying to figure out what to do. When I showed Rebecca quitting her job and Buffy leaving town, I wanted to show how I tend to leave jobs and places in hopes I can find something that makes me happy even though it's usually an internal mental health issue (what I didn't realize before).
I wanted to use the clip of Fraser reaching out to the train because a vid meta post impacted me that talked about how that shot meant desperately wanting something and would mean that in any context so I wanted to use it to show me trying to find romance even when it always leads to rejection and heartbreak for me. I knew I had to include something about my mom dying and how terrible it was for me and how I still wish I had her in my life a lot so I put in clips that reminded me of that including the Buffy episode I watched the day I found out she died. I used effects on the Lex violently hitting something clip which was meant to replicate the effects in sisabet's Without You I'm Nothing vid, which I've always loved and related to and showed that frustration I felt at the unfairness of the world. I wanted to use effects in the vid (such as glows) to highlight the emotion/mood from the source and also as a way to show my vidding progress in being able to use effects since the vid was for the From There to Here vidshow (first vid shown at Vividcon and then the last one).
Finally at the end of the vid, I wanted to show how vidding is a form of creative outlet for processing my life and emotions and how it can turn grief into beauty especially the happiness I get from showing my vids at Vividcon. I wanted to use clips from one of my favorite parts of the vid, Out Here by heresluck (who also made my favorite vid, Superstar and clips from that are also featured throughout the vid) where Fraser steps toward the light to the decision to make something good happen and walk towards something unknown (how my vid will turn out/will others will like it) as it was always powerful imagery for me (and I relate a lot to Fraser). The last clip is based on a classic vid meta post, The Life Cycle of Vid and Vidder by luminosity in regards to #22, "God, I'm depressed. Post vid letdown. It's almost like giving birth." wherein by creating my vid, it's like creating a child (maybe a cat baby? ;)) symbolically to create something new from other components including my own life, clips from the media and songs.
I knew not everyone would get some or even most of the vid in the context of my life but I hoped people could empathize with certain parts and that I could show how my favorite media is intricately entwined with my life from my youth (The Lion King) to the current shows I watch. As I like to say, I was born a fangirl and I will die a fangirl, and I'm glad I'm able to create vids from that passion. Thankfully, I was able to find the right antidepressants after I turned 30 and it has made me so much happier including better self-esteem and self-confidence so that most of the vid no longer applies to my life even if I am still working towards creating the life I desire. But I'm glad I made it as a time capsule to issues I've struggled with and that still occasionally come up as well as a chance to be vulnerable and reveal more about myself directly in my art instead of using fictional characters to show it more indirectly (which is also wonderful!!). |

I heard this song at the end of Call Me By Your Name and it immediately struck me as a song that reminded me of vidding with the "Is it a video?" repeated lyric. At some point of listening to the song, the line "I have loved you for the last time" reminded me of Vividcon and I got the idea to make a vid to the song using my own vids as footage to show how much Vividcon means to me just like the clips in my vids have a lot of meaning to me (they're both video and my real life identity). The lyric "Visions of Gideon" reminded me of my idealism especially when it comes to Vividcon and how I held up the con as a beacon of happiness and hope that helped me get through hard times in my life. I wanted to use text to explain the Vividcon connection (and how I first found VVC) and try to use text from my VVC posts to use my whole history with VVC from my first to the last one I attended (as such some of the earlier text do not represent my current state of mind). I added pictures of the Vividcon hotel to make the connection more clear as well as show Vividcon is also a place I attend and I have strong memories of the whole hotel and con places in it as a home to me. I really enjoyed finding the right clips from my vids to add extra layers of meaning to all the different layers of the vid so that was one of my favorite parts of vidding this vid.
The vid itself shows my journey in processing the end of Vividcon and what I have gone through in the last year to make my peace with it. I was really upset when I found out Vividcon was ending which spanned many emotions including sadness and anger but I am an emotional person and the way I process my feelings is to allow myself intense emotions including identifying with fictional characters (see vid) which helps me release them and move on. I wanted to represent that in the first half of the vid because if I didn't love Vividcon so much and if it wasn't so important to me, I wouldn't have had such a deep reaction to it ending. But it was also really important for me to give a happier ending to the second half of the vid because eventually I was able to remember all the happy memories and be grateful that I had the chance to be a part of such an amazing con.
I was going through major depression when I found out Vividcon was ending and up to April 2018 so it took me some time (and the thought of being at VVC helped keep me alive!) but eventually I found other things to look forward to in life and was able to let go of Vividcon and be at peace that it had ended. The last few clips are about that transition and the very last one is meant to represent me looking at other people being happy and belonging at other cons and being glad they have them just like I had Vividcon while hoping I can find my place to belong somewhere else (probably not fan cons and I'm cool with that). The vid was made with no ill intent towards anyone - I truly hold in high esteem and care for everyone who has attended the con as I tried to make clear at the end of the vid. I am aware this was a deeply personal ito make but vids are a way for me to self-express my truth and put my feelings into art. I hoped some other people would possibly connect to it and I felt it was a good way to bring cathartic closure to my Vividcon experience as well as make a tribute to a con I love so much. |

I started this vid back in 2015 while I was watching The Good Wife for the first time and about halfway through I realized this song (one of my personal favorites that inspires me) would work for a vid focusing on Alicia's career path which is one of my favorite parts of the show. While I was watching S4-6, I clipped the major moments that worked for the vid and also went back to put in the big moments from the Pilot and some other key scenes I remembered. However I didn't have the time or motivation to clip the rest of the show so I put the vid on the backburner, hoping to finish it someday. I had given up of finishing it when I was searching for a Challenge vid to make for Vividcon and realized this vid was perfect for the theme, full circle (see ending shots). I figured out I could clip mostly the big moments and cut the song choruses a little bit and was able to finish the vid in time. It's one of my favorites that I've made as I looove Alicia and I feel like I accomplished most of what I wanted to do. |

After Game of Thrones episode 702 aired, I had a LOT OF FEELINGS about Arya and Nymeria meeting which I had waited 5 years to happen. I loved the dialogue parallel and wanted to do a little experimental vidlet using the dialogue from both scenes while vidding it with scenes from the show. It was a lot of fun to do and it reminded me of my Dead and Gone vid and its themes so I added the underlying audio to it at a soft level to make a little coda to the original vid. I finished this up at Wiscon in a day while spending most of the time dealing with audio issues (thanks to cyberorganize for helping me with some audio stuff!) but was glad to finish it time for the deadline. I figured it'd be super obvious it was me but I have long given up at being anonymous at Challenge :) |

I've wanted to vid this song for AGES, initially to Swan Queen, but I was finally able to do it this year to three of my favorite love/hate femslash ships. I love how danceable this song is (elipie can confirm this!) and I wanted to show the parallels between three ships where two of them aren't canon and one is and how easily this dynamic translates to a romantic and/or sexual relationship. So when I first watched the new Wonder Woman movie, I knew that someone had to make a vid to this song as Titanium and Wonder Woman go together forever for me thanks to giandujakiss's amazing vid to the TV show here. When the movie finally was available to vid, I tried to think of what I wanted to vid it to and decided to vid it to this song since this song and the movie meant a lot to me while I was going through hard times in June and I wanted to make a vid to the movie that would represent all the things I loved about the movie. This was one of the BEST experiences I've ever had as I had so much fun lovingly getting to clip every frame of Diana and then getting to vid her being awesome and only vidding the parts of the movie I loved was paradise for me. I originally was going to make the vid shorter but then I kept having to include more scenes and I was happy I added a section for young Diana. For the most part, the vid came together easily and I was happy that the vid came out the way I saw it in my head. Plus I got to premiere the vid at my birthday party with myself dressed up as Wonder Woman with my friends and it was an amazing experience :D |

So I had heard about Pam/Tara becoming a thing on True Blood but I had stopped watching in s4 and never went back to finish the show so I never saw their storyline. But in my rewatch, I was mesmerized by the Pam/Tara storyline and how much chemistry they had together and I couldn't get enough of their scenes. I decided I had to make a treat for them and went looking for a song and after being frustrated for awhile, I finally found this one which captured some of the dom/sub aspects of their relationship which I enjoy so much. It was fun to vid as I love all their scenes and I only wish the show had done more storylines with them. I was glad to finally get a chance to vid Pam and if you're curious, you only need to watch S5 (Pam&Tara scenes) to enjoy the vid! |

So one of the main reasons I offered True Blood was because I was really sad to hear that the actor who played Lafayette, Nelsan Ellis had died as Lafayette was my favorite character and the main reason I watched True Blood (also Pam). I had always wanted to make a vid for him but never got around to it and so I thought this exchange was the perfect time to do so. I wanted to make a Lafayette character study vid but I really struggled with finding a song that encapsulated all of his character so I kept looking as I rewatched the show but only watched the scenes with Lafayette, Pam or something gay in it (inc Godric/Eric) which were really the best part of the show. I fell in love with Lafayette/Jesus all over again so when I couldn't find a song, I remembered I used to want to vid Adam Lambert's Down The Rabbit Hole to the show and realized the s4 magic/medium plot would work perfectly for it. Once I decided on the song, I struggled a little with making the vid until I realized I just needed to cut the song down and then I could just use all the pretty parts of the plot and it made vidding it a lot more fun and matched my recipient's request even more. In the end, I was happy to have made it but I still hope someday somebody will make an epic Lafayette vid because he deserves it. |

So I had the idea to do a Karmy vid to this song after watching S1 of Faking It but I had another vidsong I wanted to do more so I made that instead. I saved this song just in case I ever wanted to vid Faking It again and when I went through a similar experience last year, all the emotions of the song came back to me. When I watched Supergirl, I strongly connected to the Sanvers plot because of it and it gave me the idea to make a vid to this song connecting the two falling for your friend plots. It was an emotional vid to make but also cathartic and it came together fairly easily in terms of making the two shows work together since I could see the patterns in both sources. It was a bit of a struggle trying to visually show the layered lyrics at the end but fun to work with opacity and color a bit. I wanted to show the happiness and agony of this common queer girl experience and how TV shows can help us relate to and process our own life experiences. |

I was happy to see aurumcalendula participating in femslash as we have similar interests and wanted to make her a treat. When I saw awkwardlyary's requests go up, I loved most of them and wanted to make something for her. Finally I heard this song and knew I could make a fun dance vid for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I didn't have a lot of time so I decided to limit myself to the music videos from the show and had SO much fun watching them again as I forgot how hilarious they were. I wanted to focus on my favorite women and the femslashy ships with them since that's my favorite part of the show. It was a lot of fun to vid all the dance-y clips and find all the parallels and femslashy footage in the source and it came out relatively quickly. Even if you don't watch the show, I highly recommend watching all the music videos which you can find on Youtube. |

I wasn't planning to vid this pairing but then I was listening to some of my favorite songs and I heard this song and instantly made me think of them. I've always LOVED the "man loves a man" section and wanted to vid it and this seemed like the perfect opportunity since I wanted to vid this source and make a treat for eruthros. After I saw Ghostbusters, I was SO in love with Jillian Holtzmann and I figured I'd have to vid her at some point to let out my feels. I had an idea for a Holtzmann vid I wanted to make so I offered it for Festivids and was happy to see I got assigned a fellow Holtzmann lover :) I struggled some with my idea which turned out to be bigger than I could make especially considering some RL issues and I couldn't figure out how to structure the vid. I wanted to default a lot but I pushed through and decided to cut down my idea and make a vid about Holtzmann finding her family with the ghostbusters. After that, it became a lot more fun to vid and I was able to quickly vid it and make it look the way I wanted it to look. I was glad I was able to finish and bring some more Holtzmann love to the world! |

I've fallen head over heels with Lin Manuel Miranda/Jonathan Groff since they love each other SO MUCH and are so cute on Twitter and in videos about it and basically ship themselves. So I knew for Escapade I wanted to make a RPS vid about their love for each other and since there's limited footage, I figured I'd have time to vid them in 3-7 days after Festivids. I already had the song since I loved this song for months and "hella obsessed with your face" always reminded me of how LMM looks at Groffsauce and I just had to audio edit a bit to get the right lyrics and length. It was a little complicated techically to make since I had to gather all the footage which was in all different sizes and qualities and then get it scaled down but I managed to figure that all out and also edit the song I had found that gave me happy LMM/Groffsauce feels. I was unsure of how to handle the smaller footage but then figured out to put the Hamilton background there which I liked how it connected their relationship to the larger musical. The structure was pretty simple with vidding to the lyrics although it was a little tricky trying to get some visual contrast as well as figuring out how to use the tweets and still images. Mostly I had a LOT of feels making this and even though it was a bit of a rush at the end, I'm still really glad I was able to make a little vid to condense all their cuteness together and give me a shipper high whenever I watch it. |

So I wasn't planning to make this vid but then winterevanesce made me this AMAZING vid for Blue Neighbourhood that gave me all the feels and reignited my desire to vid these precious boys. Since she had vidded both the angst and cuteness so well, I figured I could still make a happy, romantic vid for them so I looked at the end of my new songs I like playlist on Spotify and almost immediately found the song I used for the vid. So it was basically fate ;) I initially was going to cut the song more but I really wanted that crescendo instrumental build so I figured I'd make it work with the clips I had. I knew I wanted to start the beginning with the young kids realizing they had feelings to make it clear it was a romance at each age and I figured out I wanted to build to the kiss in the first chorus and then the sex in the last section. One of the other reasons I wanted to make the vid is to give my proof and interpretation of why I think the music videos ended in a happy ending (it's ambiguous) or why it SHOULD so hopefully that comes through on some level. It was fun to vid Troye and Matthew who are just so freaking attractive as well as the cuteness of the boys and besides an audio issue at the very end, I had a fun and pain-free vidding process as it mostly all came together. And I am definitely in agreement with the people at Escapade who wanted the movie not a music video series because I really, really wish the source was longer and had the story (hint hint write fic!). |

So I really wanted to make a Hamilton vid for Festivids but most of my vid ideas for the show required too much footage I didn't have as well as a lot of time that I didn't really have with all the other Festivids I wanted to make. So I thought it wouldn't happen this year until I found this song and I must have been in a Hamilton mood because only half the lyrics make sense for him and the other half are COMPLETELY wrong. But I kept getting attached to the idea and I figured if I had time, I could make a vid in the last couple days before the deadline by cutting the song down. I didn't really have time but I made enough to cut out all the lyrics that didn't fit Hamilton and just kept the last chrous and figured I'd just make a happy, Hamilton focused ensemble vid for the show. At one point, I thought about making the vid more meta about the show phenomen itself but when I tried to do that, I realized I didn't have enough time to tell both stories adequely so I just went with Hamilton the show.
It was a LOT of fun to vid this because I'm so obsessed with the musical and vidding allowed me to really see each little face movement and all the little details I miss on regular viewings. The lyric matchings were really fun although it became a bit tricky to have some more structure for when it was less obvious but I enjoyed comparing Jefferson & co to redcoats at the end fighting section as well as figuring out ways to introduce all the major players in Hamilton's life. One of my favorite clips is Hamilton's smile to Angelica because SO CUTE and I also loved putting in my little "follow" Hamilton/Washington moment. Ultimately I wanted to make it for sdwolfpup since she has been so awesome on Twitter with quoting Hamilton and being fun to talk to about Hamilton and Leslie. I wanted to make her a Burr vid actually but could never find a song that would work for such limited footage and I also figured someone else would do it. Anyways, the beginning turned out to be one of the trickiest parts but I was happy with the way the whole vid turned out in the end even if I'm not sure if it's a bit too fast. In any case, do not worry, this is DEFINITELY not the last Hamilton vid you'll see from you and I'm so excited to vid it when we have HQ footage of the whole musical to vid the longer vids in my head. |

So I've wanted to make chaila a Festivid for 3 years and every year, her vid was next on the list and I didn't have the time to make it so this year I was determined to make her a vid. There is a sad lack of Gone Girl vids and last year at Escapade, I heard Blow and thought it'd make a fun Amy vid. Plus, almost all of the LA vidders have vidded Blow by Kesha (some version of it) at some point so I figured I might as well do it myself. I wanted to find a remix of the song so I could do some quick cutting and couldn't find anything that worked for it except this song which has already been used in one of my favorite Club Vivid vids but I decided to use it anyways. I tried to reread the book before I made the vid but got stuck in the Nick sections but finally figured out the book is a MILLION times better skipping Nick's sections and just reading the glorious Amy sections.
I got distracted by another festivid so I got started on this vid late but once I clipped it, I struggled a bit coming up with how I wanted to vid it. It helped me a LOT once I decided to cut out more of the song than I first imagined so that allowed me to just focus on the parts of the movie I wanted to vid: Amy being a mastermind and destroying Nick :D Some of the faster cutting sections were difficult and hollywoodgrrl helped with that as well as the slower section in the middle. I particularly loved the "throw some glitter" section as I knew what I wanted to do with that from the beginning of the vid. I still wish I had more time to work on the vid but I'm really glad I got to make an Amy vid and that a lot of it came out similar to my initial vision for the vid and what I wanted to show. |

So when I fell in love with Troye Sivan, I started reading some articles about him and eventually came across one talking about other gay music artists and Olly from Years & Years came up. I started listening to Years & Years music and fell in love with the deep emotion of Olly's voice as well as the band's beautiful music videos. I was intrigued by the idea to make a music video of most of their music videos to try to combine them together to tell a coherent story which I hadn't really done before and looked for a song that reflected the emotion and the story I wanted to tell. I couldn't find anything good enough and finally decided to use the song, Shine since I loved it and they had made a bunch of music videos to the song so clearly one more wouldn't be an issue ;) I clipped all the music videos and organized the clips a bit but then got distracted by my assigment so I wasn't sure if I would finish this vid since I had another ambitious vid I was working on. When I decided I wouldn't have time to finish that one, I decided to try to make this vid especially since I really wanted to make a vid for winterevanescence.
I really loved the process of trying to create a story that didn't exist through vidding instead of fic and the structure was really fun to do. I started this at the end of December and the beginning came pretty easy as knew I wanted to show Olly becoming separate from his bandmates after being distracted and tempted by pretty colors and symbols that would become important to the band. I struggled with the later parts as I soon realized that I didn't have enough footage to cover the whole song and I had to figure out which parts I had the footage to keep and would work with the story of the beginning. I was able to figure it out and I liked the whole idea I had of creating Olly's evil twin that was trying to destroy him leading to the house coming apart as Olly tried to find his way back to the happiness of playing music with his bandmates at the end. There was another layer that I didn't know if anyone would get to the story where to me it was kind of a metaphor to when you get distracted by your negative thoughts (that *evil* part of yourself) or other things that take you away from happiness and you have to find your way back to the light. In any case, I also have fun playing with the colorful footage and vidding in a little bit more of a flow-y way and I was glad that I was able to make it. |

So I heard the song "Headphones" and fell in love with it as for me it's a perfect representation of that mood that I relate to when I want to ignore the outside world and just focus on creating, usually vidding. It reminded me of Beca from Pitch Perfect as she's such a great representation of fan artists with her mashups and how she loves her headphones. I felt bad that I wouldn't get to make a treat for metatxt since she was my assignment so I decided to make her this treat while I was looking for a song for her assignment. I cut the song down because the concept was pretty small and I wanted to use only the best clips and thankfully it was easy and fun to vid. Most of it was done by the beginning of November which helped lesson some of my assignment stress. I wanted to keep Jesse, Chloe and the Bellas out of the vid as much as possible as Beca did connect with them (which I showed for the latter two in my ensemble vid) which limited my clip choices a bit but I made it work. Ultimately I was pleased I made this vid and that a bunch of people got that it was about vidding and fandom in general as that was a major reasons why I decided to make the vid. |

So I was planning to make metatxt a Bechloe vid since I knew she LOVED them and so when I got assigned to her, I was super excited to get a chance to actually make it especially when I read her Dear Festividdder letter which was hilarious and inspiring. I also loved that I was making it for Festivids since I had used the Pitch Perfect finale song a few years ago to make my Parks vid and it felt very full circle to vid the actual movies. My first problem though was finding the right song and that turned out to be a little harder than I thought as it took me about two weeks. While I looked around for songs, I clipped the movie and once I finished, I already had the song for Headphones so I vidded that as I was waiting but I started to get nervous because I wanted to finish the vid by the end of the November (ha!). I was complaining about it to elipie and then I started just searching for titles that reminded me of the vibe I was looking for and "Alive" was one of them, I found this song and the rest was history. Except that I actually planned to cut the song after the second chorus because I didn't think I had enough Bechloe footage but later on when I tried it, it felt cut off and like the ending wasn't strong or conclusive enough and that it needed more.
Yeah, so that's when I decided I needed to add the rest of the song and make it more of an ensemble dance chorus so that was more clipping I had to do which made the vid take longer than I expected. I struggled a little bit with making the choruses be fun and dance-y in an interesting way as well as dealing with the heavy face shots of the Bechloe scenes but was able to find a way to make it work for me and I had a lot of fun vidding the quick editing sections before the choruses. Even though it was harder than I expected and took longer, it was really fun to rekindle my Bechloe love and gave me a lot of feels and I was glad it made metatxt happy in the end. |

I saw The Normal Heart when it first came out and it emotionally destroyed me with the main pairing and the LGBT community's struggle to fight AIDS. My knowledge of AIDS activism was very limited so the movie helped bring the early struggles to light for me. I heard this song last summer and found it to be a very powerful song especially the ending that brought in the family aspect. It seemed like the perfect vidsong to me but I couldn't think of what fandom had the powerful family relationships I needed - until I realized that family can also refer to a community of people such as the LGBT community which would fit perfectly with The Normal Heart. After I realized that, the structure of the vid became clear to me and I realized I could use historical external source to make the queer community aspect more broad and diverse than was shown in the movie to hopefully make it even more powerful.
I had intended to make this vid for Escapade but after I got into a new ship, I didn't have the time to make this vid as well. Then the VVC Memory Challenge theme worked perfectly with the vid idea and I didn't have time to make my two initial Challenge ideas so I decided to make this vid for Challenge. The clipping was fairly painless and I read about AIDS activism in LGBT communities and watched a few documentaries about it including the two I used: We Were Here and How to Survive a Plague which helped provide some incredibly useful footage. The vid made me cry a lot while making it (especially the ending) but I figured that was a good sign for the emotional reaction I was going for. thingswithwings provided some super helpful feedback that made the vid even better and in the end, I'm really happy that I made it and with how it turned out. |

So I originally had another vid planned for Premieres but after making my Club Vivid vid, I needed a break from vidding and after that I realized I wasn't going to have the time to actually make that more time intensive vid. In mid-May, I started catching up on House of Cards S2 and fell hard for this threesome which features one of the most beautiful, intense and nonverbal romantic scenes I've ever seen. As luck would have it, I heard this song in one of Spotify's playlists I was listening to as I fell asleep and I realized it was perfect for them while also having the lyrics to cover some of the political stuff I wanted to include. It was nice to have a less time intensive clipping process and the House of Cards pretty imagery helped make the vidding process mostly painless as I wanted to use the symbols to provide some context and meaning to their relationship together. It turned to be one of those vids that looks very similar to what I saw in my head before I made it which is always wonderful when it occurs. |

I've wanted to make a Cristina/Meredith vid since 2005 when I was really into Grey's Anatomy and I've always promised myself when the show was over (or Cristina left) I would. Since the latter happened, last year at a Vividcon room party I swore that I'd make one for them for next year's Vividcon. Amazingly enough, I actually did it! The pairing is very meaningful to me because it was my first femslash OTP and helped keep me watching the show for many years. Last year I heard the original version of this song and I loved the chrous which seemed perfect for making a dancing focused Cristina/Meredith vid that I could premiere at Club Vivid. Unfortunately the lyrics section lacked a good dancing beat so I knew I'd have to find a remix to make the song danceable for CVV.
I searched the internet but I hated all the remixes I found so I realized I'd have to take matters into my own hands. I've always loved Titus Jones's mashups so I looked into whether he could make a custom remix for me and to my surprise, he could and for a reasonable low price! It was a really easy process for him to make the remix and he even added the quick beats right before the chorus without me asking which really enhanced the vid IMO. The clipping process was horrible because the show is so long but I started early and tried to maintain a quick pace to find all the Meredith/Cristina scenes and any other relevant clips. It took forever but I managed to do it and did some vidding in between to make it more fun. It was a bit overwhelming at first but I was able to just find the best clips to use between them and once I figured out what the different sections of the vid would be doing (in relation to Cristina's growth and journey), I was able to find the clips that would work best in each one. Overall I really enjoyed getting to squee over Meredith and Cristina's scenes again and create the friendship/femslash (I've always loved how easily their relationship can go either way and that the vid leaves it open to interpretation) vid I've always wanted to make for them. |

So last year in June, I started watching the World Cup and got really into watching all the teams play against each other. Being American, I supported the USA (among others) but in particular I fell in love with the coach, Jürgen Klinsmann who has this enthusiasm I adore. My friend, ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif) caesaria told me she shipped Jurgen/Jogi, Jogi referring to the German coach, Joachim Löw. I started reading more about them since Jurgen's history is that he was a German player that won the World Cup with West Germany in 1990 and then became head coach of Germany to lead them in the 2006 World Cup (held in Germany) where they exceeded expectations with the help of Jurgen's assistant coach, Joachim (tactics master). Jurgen left the head coaching job and later in 2011 accepted a head coaching position for the USA since he's lived in California for a long time and feels a connection with the country but he's still friends with Jogi. Anyways, I watched the German documentary, A Summer Fairytale that followed Germany's run in the 2006 World Cup and completely fell in love with the ship so that when USA played Germany in the 2014 World Cup, I had a LOT OF FEELINGS and was happy when everything worked out well for both teams. After Germany won the World Cup, I was even more in love with the ship (Jurgen said: JOGI YOU DID IT!!! in a tweet :D) and really wanted to vid them.
This song has been a big favorite of mine since it played on The OC ages ago and it came up on my iPhone shuffle and all of a sudden, I started seeing clips in my head set to the music as it expressed a bunch of things I wanted to show about the ship. It was a major pain finding all the footage and getting it in the right format as I spent many, many hours searching Youtube for good footage but it was worth it when I would find the perfect shippy clips (sometimes quality did have to suffer a bit though). I had a lot of fun vidding it though as this was soon after the World Cup so I had a lot of squee about them. The ending was a bit tricky though as I didn't have a ton of footage and I wanted to create a kind of constructed reality or at least imply that they were together far away vacationing together while still giving it a feeling of being free symbolically speaking. There was some helpful commercial footage of Jogi that helped a lot as well as a cool promo from USA soccer of Jurgen. I finished most of it by October but there was still a few things I needed to change and then Festivids happened but I was able to make a few fixes and send it to Escapade. So while clipping for Festivids, I started watching The Good Wife and fell HARD for Alicia/Kalinda. I fell in love with both characters and absolutely loved their friendship together that was so flirty and femslashy and it turned into a hardcore OTP for me. Then (slight spoiler alert), the end of S2 came along and broke my heart with them but I still wanted to express my love for them and show all the happy times together (and a little sad that was soulcrushing to vid). This song came on the radio and kept reminding me of them so I decided with a couple weeks to the Escapade deadline to start clipping and vidding them. It was an intense process as I was busy with RL stuff but it made me happy to see all the cute scenes between them and the vid came together quicker than I expected once I cut out some of the music and had fun coming up with suggestive clip matches for them. I'm super glad I was able to make it and thank you to all my Good Wife loving people on Twitter for supporting me! |

So I knew I wanted to make a How to Get Away With Murder vid for Festivids and I was lucky enough to have two great songs fall into my hands for it. I decided to make this one because I looove Annalise/Wes and wanted to vid out my feelings for them. Plus I knew Nicole liked them too so she would enjoy it as well. I started vidding the beginning but after that I was busy working on my other Festivids and this one started to fall by the wayside. But I was determined to make it and I was able to finish clipping and get little bits of vidding done in the weeks before golive. Finally I was down to my last two days of vidding and this was one of the vids I worked on with the deadline forcing me to let go of my perfectionism issues with vidding all the fast parts. This vid almost didn't exist, I literally was up ALL night finishing it and at 4am almost gave up on it because I was so tired and didn't think I could finish it. Thankfully, a few supportive words from a friend and taking a short break got me back to finishing it and I was able to finish up all edits before golive went live. I was also very thankful for the last episode of HTGAWM that aired a couple days before the golive deadline that gave me some AMAZING footage that I put to good use. |

I've wanted to make a Keith/David vid since I saw Six Feet Under for the first time and fell in love with them but my plans to actually make it kept being delayed because I kept stalling in my rewatches and putting them off til I could better take the show emotionally. But finally I found this perfect song this year and knew I just had to bump up this show in my priority rewatch list especially as I wanted to use watching it as a bit of grief therapy. The show was tough to watch at times and watching the finale was almost worst this time having a more personal experience with death but it was good to finally get to see the greatest TV show finale ending of all time again. I was able to take clip notes while watching which made clipping much easier than it could have been. The vid came together pretty easily as it was mainly finding the most significant moments for them and trying not to cry too much with the ending. This Festivids year was the year of crying for me (both happy and sad) and this vid was probably the vid I've cried the most throughout the entire process but I'm really glad I finally have a vid that sums up my feelings about them. |

So I finally watched Luther around October (?) of last year and fell madly in love with Luther/Alice. I didn't expect to make a vid for them for this year's Festivids but in looking for shipper songs to express my feels for them, I heard the song Can't Pretend (which was on my to-vid playlist from last Festivids) and it was SO THEM and all of a sudden I wanted to vid it for them. Problem was I was worried about time and my original plan for this vid was a lot more ambitious (turned out it wasn't right for this vid). So I decided to pick up a pinch hit for lunesque to give me the deadline motivation to clip and vid this song which felt a bit above my ability. I clipped out most of the J/A stuff and was having fun vidding the beginning and a few other of my favorite ideas for the vid when I started stalling and having trouble getting myself to vid this. Largely I had such big perfectionist ideas about the vid that my fear of failure made me avoid the vid which is how I ended up having to vid this in the last two weeks before the deadline which does get rid of fear of failure but was not fun when also trying to finish my assignment vid. Ultimately there are a few things I wanted to change and make better but I ran out of time and now don't have the motivation to fix. But I'm glad I was able to make a shipper vid for them that expressed why I love them so much and was able to let out some of my feelings. |

When I first saw Life of Pi, I thought it was one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen and I wanted to vid it. Last year I heard this song while in Europe at a museum and connected it to this fandom (I was looking for a song) and it captured what I wanted to vid about Pi. I had another song for the fandom but this song seemed a better fit for what thingswithwings wanted and I was happy to be able to vid this for her. I vidded most of it in November 2014 and for the most part it wasn't too hard to vid although vidding the end made me cry a lot.

I read The Perks of Being a Wallflower a few years ago and fell in love with it and was so happy to find out the writer was making a film version of the book so I could vid it. I wanted to vid the movie last Festivids but couldn't find the right song but in the last year I heard this song and fell in love as it captured the book and movie perfectly. I made this vid in the first couple weeks after assignments went out as it was relatively easy to make as most of the structure and clips easily came to me and it was a lot of fun to vid. It's a bit different than my normal style in that I wanted to let the clips breathe more and fully show the connection between the three of them.

I've had this vid idea for over two years and had planned to premiere this vid at Vividcon 2014 so I'm so happy I was able to successfully fulfill that goal. I first heard this song around May 2012 and was instantly blown away by the dynamic changes and how perfectly it fit Cersei and her relationship with Jaime. I knew we could get more of them in season four so I knew I had to wait til 2014 to finish the vid although it didn't stop me from vidding it before then. I was a bit intimidated as it was a more ambitious idea than I usually do but I was really excited to make it especially as my Cersei/Jaime feelings increased...and then The Scene happened in S4. I was furious and depressed and sad at how the Game of Thrones writers handled such an important scene for my favorite ship from the show and I could barely look at Jaime and was afraid I wouldn't be able to make the vid. Thankfully after a month or so, I was able to get enough distance to move on from it, pretend it didn't happen (mostly) and keep working on this vid. I mistook the Premieres deadline so I had to rush in the last two weeks to get this done but I was lucky enough to get some super useful Cersei/Jaime footage in the season finale so that helped me regain my feels again as well. It was a struggle working on the vid at times as I had the perfect idea in my head of what the vid would look like and it was hard to successfully bring that vision to life. But thanks in part to cheerleading from friends and the great last minute beta of hollywoodgrrl, I was able to get the vid to look close to what I saw in my head and was able to end up happy with it. I love talking about this vid and ship so feel free to ask questions or leave any comments about it :)

I originally had two Club Vivid ideas I was going to do but unfortunately ran out of time to make either but still wanted to make a Game of Thrones vid for Premieres. I heard this song and really wanted to vid the EDM sections to Arya and Brienne sword fighting so I decided to make this vid featuring them. They are two of my favorite characters on the show (Arya is my faaaave) and I knew it would be a lot of fun to vid them. I had to edit the song to get only my favorite parts of the source and song in it and it was super fun to find the parallels between Arya and Brienne when they were fighting so I could vid them together. Plus it allowed me to have a great reason to cosplay as Arya at Club Vivid :)

So I fell in love with Faking It at the perfect time when I was going through some hard fannish times and I was super happy to find a new ship that I loved. I really wanted to vid Amy/Karma and heard this song on a fanmix and felt compelled to vid it. I had promised kiki_miserychic that I would make a femslash premiere for her so I made this for her show, hoping to recruit people to watch the show (in case you're wondering, it's a fake relationship between two best friends where one girl falls in love with the other, eight 20 minute episodes so far). So I've wanted to make an Adam/Blake vid for awhile to let out some of my MANY feelings about them but unfortunately clipping takes forever and I haven't had the time. I still wanted to make a vid for them for Escapade though so I decided to make a short vid for them by finding the best scenes using my clip notes. Unfortunately I haven't taken clip notes on all the episodes but I managed to find enough to make this vid in the week before the deadline. It was SO much fun to see all the cute clips of them while having soooo many feels. The hard part is that they're being cute in chairs most of the time which visually is kind of boring so I tried to split some of that monotony up with more visually interesting clips. I was hoping for it to be possibly a recruiter vid so I wanted to introduce them and how the show worked in the beginning and then bring out the many, many romantic and sexual things they do with each other. I definitely plan to make more vids with these two but making this helped a lot with releasing a few of my shippy feels until I can do that after Vividcon season.

So the backstory behind all the Beyonce was that Brad had mentioned he didn't know who Beyonce was and a bunch of his friends decided we should all make Brad Beyonce vids so he could hear some of her music (elipie will explain this better later). My problem was I had never seen any of Brad's sources but of all of them, The Fifth Element seemed the most likely to be of interest to me and the character seemed to be a good fit for Beyonce. So I saw The Fifth Element...and didn't like it. HOWEVER, I looooved Ruby as the character is basically made for me (confident, flamboyant and sexual? sign me up) so I was still excited to vid him. But then I had to find a song which proved more challenging than you'd expect. I went through all of Beyonce's music but none of my favorite songs seemed to work and I wasn't quite sold on Get Me Bodied at first. But then I realized it was perfect (I love that bridge) especially if I could cut it down right.
I was busy working on all my other Festivids and figured as a movie vid for a character with limited footage, I could vid this quickly the last week of Festivids before GoLive. Of course I waited til the last two days before GoLive and had to clip and vid very, very quickly. It was a LOT of fun though, especially the first section which was all my favorite scenes with Ruby combined in one short little package (one of the best parts of vidding). I was a little worried it might be a bit too slashy for Brad but COME ON, it was too obvious. This was the vid that I ended up staying up til 2 am finishing so that the credits for it is basically a representation of my state of mind at that point. I was really happy people liked it so much and I'm so glad I was able to vid one of my new favorites characters :)

This movie was near the top of the list of movies I wanted to vid for Festivids so I was super happy when I saw linguology had requested it. When I watched the movie in theaters, my favorite two parts were the beautiful visuals (seriously, it's ridiculous) and the perfect soundtrack so I really wanted to make a vid that combined them. I listened to the soundtrack a million times but my top two choices were Can't Stop and Young and Beautiful and neither captured everything I wanted to vid. Now the song I ultimately chose has special meaning to me as I listened to it a lot right before I went bar hopping/clubbing in Berlin and then by some coincidence, as I walked into the club that had one of my favorite life experiences ever, it was the first song playing. It was fate...anyways I figured out this was the perfect song for the vid I wanted to make even if it was a bit on the nose because it has the dancing sections I wanted while having plenty of great lyrics, slower sections and ultimate destruction to include all parts of the movie.
I started vidding it right after Christmas (I had clipped a week earlier) and when I actually focused on finishing it, it went pretty quickly. It was a lot of fun to vid faster than I normally did as well as play with all the gorgeous visuals. I did have some tech trouble encoding the vid which made the day before GoLive a lot more rushed than I had planned but I was glad to get it finished and submitted not to mention very happy with the great reception it received. I really wanted to make a 4 minute vid that I could watch to see all the beautiful images and music without having to sit through a long 2 hour+ movie and I'm relieved that I think I managed to pull it off :)

I wasn't planning on making this vid as I had about 10 vids that were above it in my Festivids making list. But I was having some trouble gathering up the motivation to make them and I really wanted to make a vid I was very emotionally connected to so I decided to say screw it and make a Lillian/Virginia vid which is my new favorite ship and who I LOVE SO MUCH! It was a couple weeks before GoLive when I decided to make it but I was able to quickly clip it and cut down the song to make a shorter vid. I had a different song in mind at first but after listening to my Potential Festivids Songs playlist, I found this one which was happier and shippier which was more what I wanted to do. It was a lot of fun to vid some of my favorite scenes with them including the one that got me to ship them in the first place. I was really glad I decided to make it and that aphrodite_mine was also a fan of them (yes I did some twitter checking to confirm this) so I could make a shippy vid that reminded me why I started vidding :)

So I saw this movie when it came out and was really impressed at how beautiful it was while telling a moving story about multiple queer characters. I really loved the main character's journey and I was excited to get a chance to vid her when I got matched with livrelibre. I really wanted to find a song by a black woman indie artist like she suggested and after initially thinking Final Round wasn't going to work, I realized it was the right song for what I wanted to show. It was also extra fun when I finally got a chance to meet livrelibre and had to keep my assignment vid secret AGAIN :) I initially tried to vid this in HD 1080p footage on my old laptop but my poor computer couldn't handle it so I figured it was time to buy a new computer and this was the first vid I vidded on my shiny new Macbook Pro. The process was relatively easy for an assignment as the structure wasn't too hard to figure out although working with movie source became a bit hard when I wish I had some more clips for the end. I finished this earlier than usual although a week or so is not saying much, I had most of it done by Christmas. I've been offering Pariah for awhile now and am glad I finally got a chance to vid it!

So I first heard this song last April and fell in love with it and at some point, it struck me as the perfect song for Jaime. While reading the books a year and a half ago, I fell in love with him and after the last season, my Jaime feels have gone to ridiculous levels so I knew I had to vid this song to get them out. What I love about the song was that it allowed me to show Jaime's idealism and belief in honor and love (my favorite parts of his character) while also showing the more cynical parts of his life and how he's been changed through the horrible things he's experienced and seen. Unfortunately I don't have the early footage of Jaime I need to make some of his story obvious but I tried my best to show that which hopefully comes through at least to people who know his background. I vidded most of this after Vividcon and it was so much fun to vid something I love so much including my two OTPs, Jaime/Cersei and Jaime/Brienne. I had hoped to post it before I left for Europe but procrastinated a bit too much and then didn't get enough vidding done while I was there. But I'm really happy with it now and am happy I finally got a chance to make a vid for one of my favorite characters who I identify with a LOT.
