Epic Gleeness |
[May. 25th, 2010|10:29 pm] |
The Glee episode I've been waiting for!!! It both fulfilled and slightly disappointed for the obvious reasons:
( Spoilers for Glee 120 )
My excitement at seeing the Glee concert this Friday keeps growing!! I can't wait to be with a crowd of people who all *get* it, who get the Glee love and are crazy Gleeks like me who'll sing and scream and dance and love. Mmmm heaven.
Two comm recs: in case you missed it like me: lgbtq_recs LGBTQ recs!! Cause I always need more. And ao3vidders is a vid auction to benefit the OTW in the hopes of eventually getting a vidding archive like the Archive of Our Own fic one. The vidders are all out of my price range but it's a great way to make a vidder do your bidding!
So glad Lost is finally over and hopefully people, really the media, will stop talking about it. I am so unsurprised a lot of questions went answered because that's what happens when you don't plan out your super plotty show from the beginning. Show creators, take note. On another negative note, I cannot agree more with Johnny Weir in hoping Evan (boo hiss) doesn't win DWTS and after his disgusting negative comments about Johnny recently I am only more vindicated that he is an ass who I continue to despise with every fiber of my being only rivaled by RTD.
But enough with the negativity, I am in a good mood right now with Glee love. Although only two more episodes left oh noes. Then again, summer does bring some new shows including Losing It With Jillian (Jillian Michaels all the time being awesome and hot? sign me up) June 1st, True Blood June 13 (PAM AND ERIC AND LAFAYETTE guhhh) and a whole bunch of shows I plan to check out. Yay TV! |

Good times never seemed so good (or 6 more days til Glee!) |
[Apr. 7th, 2010|07:30 pm] |
OMG SIX MORE DAYS TIL GLEE!!! I am so excited I can't even. I can't believe I survived the four month hiatus of doom. And I just watched the cast on Oprah and OMG HOW IS THIS SHOW SO AWESOME??? I cannot even contain my glee, it is too boundless. The video for it is right here which includes Don't Stop Believin/Somebody to Love (best two songs!) performances, Q&A (with heartwarming/sobworthy stories, writer love and a a little spoiler alert), behind the scenes (extra spoiler alert). There's more but it's not online yet except a few videos on youtube. Just watching the performances made me go crazy which tells me I'm really going to go insane when I see them live. I hate spoilers normally (and still don't want to be spoiledfor any Glee songs or anything else) but in this case I am so desperate and love this cast/show so much that I don't care because OMG GLEE. More spoiler talk under the cut to let out my happiness.
( Spoilers are screaming for joy )
One of the things I loved that Ryan Murphy said is that this is one of the few shows on TV that is optimistic, that's uplifting and I cannot agree with him anymore. What I love so much about this show is that after the crappiness that life can offer this show brings happiness and joy to me and so many people. There really is not enough of it on TV which always gets me down as my TV to watch piles up with depressing shows. But Glee!! It always brings the emotional highs and puts me in an amazing mood and I really need more of that in my life. This show is why I love TV (and music) and it's really what makes life worth living in the end.
And man is Glee coming back at the right time because I have been feeling more and more out of step with fandom and this is perfect to keep my energized. The recent wave of Supernatural and Doctor Who posts is just so whatever to me as I'm completely over episodic shows and I tried the Eleventh Doctor and hated it. It was just so boring and tries too hard and I don't like the new Doctor's annoying face and just whatever Moffat, go away please. However irrational it is, it just makes me want to get away from LJ/DW and go hang out in a Glee loving place for the next few months to concentrate on the happy. I won't-it'd be like cutting off my own leg-but I'm tempted. But such is life in fandom.
On a happy note, my time in Chicago was great! Totally epic. I went to the rink early in hopes of meeting Johnny but sadly didn't see him come in. I did get to watch the practice and saw the first time he started skating (instantly recognized him in his blue jacket). Totally cheered when he first came out and was the only one, hee (there was like 5 people there). When I saw him doing Poker Face I was SO EXCITED as I had no idea he was going to do it. They did make us leave before he practiced Bad Romance sadly but I caught a little of it waiting in line. I was first in line so I got a front row seat in the middle of the arena. It was very nice even though I was dying to have one of the on the ice seats. When Johnny came out, it was SO awesome, the whole building was filled with Johnny fans so we were all screaming and you couldn't hear the announcer or the music.
Besides Poker Face (which was just so cool to see live), Johnny also did this beautiful piece dedicated to the Moscow bombing victims. And god in the beginning I was so overwhelmed with seeing him live, him being so beautiful on the ice, that I started to cry. It was just so, so worth the money to see him live, he is an angel on the ice and so...perfect. And then finally for the grand finale, he did the famous Bad Romance which was EPIC! I mean the costume!!! Better than Poker Face, maybe even the pink tassel, I don't know. But it was all golden and glittery and just so Bad Romance. And the skating was so perfect for Lady GaGa, such a theatrical show and he totally made it worth it for the audience. So many ass swivel type stuff and ice sliding and fitting the song and just YES. At times he seemed to be looking right at me although that's probably just me. The audience was practically cheering the whole time and he totally got a standing oviation. It was just amazing.
And then at the end, he was coming around the rink waving at the audience and someone threw flowers that he collected. And I had bought flowers at Union Station but wasn't sure whether to throw them out or try to give them to him after the show. But when I saw that, I decided I would so when he came around to my side near me, I threw them down to him and he picked them up and looked at me and I was so overwhelmed with love that I blew him a kiss. And then looking right at me HE BLEW ME A KISS BACK!!! ME!!! OMG it was one of the best moments of my life. I felt so special. It was the best. So even though I didn't get a chance to meet him because he went to a VIP party and I had to leave to catch a train, it still felt personal and worth it anyhow because of that. Oh Johnny Weir, how I love you ♥ |

Trufax: after listening to Kanye West for five years, it took me until my roadtrip back to NY to realize that Chi-town = Chicago. Yeeeah. But that's where I'm going! Tonight I'm leaving to go to Chicago to see Johnny Weir skate to BAD ROMANCE! Gaaahh I'm so excited I can't even. Plus the seats are general admission so I'm going to get there super early tomorrow so I can get a front row seat and hopefully meet him eeee. I was dying for a chance to see him ice skate and thankfully the universe provided it to me. If anyone is in Chicago and wants to hang out anytime on Thursday or Friday, let me know asap (if you can spare a place to crash Thursday night that'd also be great, otherwise my cousin once removed lives there so I'll hang with her). I'm really looking forward to it! And of course Chi-town is where I'll be going this August when I go to Vividcon :)
I was unsure whether I'd be able to go up until this afternoon as I got a new job and of course the scheduling put me on both my cousin's wedding and this trip. But thankfully they're letting me miss Friday so I'm fine and can go. Had my first day today and it was alright, shouldn't be too hard. Working in the deli in the grocery store for now although hoping to switch to cashiering soon. Should definitely help with money. Last weekend I went to see my oldest cousin's wedding and that was a lot of fun. It was nice getting to talk with some family I haven't seen in awhile and meet my cousin's new baby who was cute (as can be for someone who thinks babies are ugly) as well as getting to enjoy the open bar and dance floor. They played two GaGa songs which made me happy so it was a blast for the most part.
In TV that I am watching, been catching up on In Treatment and Breaking Bad. In Treatment is rather addicting once you get into it. I love the therapy sessions throughout most of the episodes and how character/relationship based it is. Very cool. I tried it out earlier but the pilot kind of bored me. Rewatching that I find that the first patient is my least favorite and of course I despise her storyline which is the thing that bothers me most about the show. Lots of familiar guest stars, Melissa George from Alias, Blair Underwood and Dan from Sports Night. Working on S2 at the moment. Breaking Bad took me three episodes to get into but the fourth is AMAZING. Very Wire-esque and the show does beg comparison to that show although it isn't as good in comparison (what is?). I love the gradual character change and how very smart the show is not to mention my favorite character, Jesse. The domestic stuff generally bores me although the Hank stuff can be pretty funny. However I will warn that they try to buildup to a big S2 finale ending but the ending SUCKS. Don't go into it thinking it'll change the world, it's just the creator fucking with you. Was angry about it so haven't seen the first two S3 episodes but I will tonight probably. I recommend them both if you love high quality television.
Also watched the first two episodes each of United States of Tara and Nurse Jackie and loved them both. United States of Tara got more gay which made me super super happy and I am interested to see where the storylines are going. I enjoy Nurse Jackie more because I love more of the characters. Zoe is my favorite (even though she's not my usual type) because her cuteness and funniness knows no bounds but I am still loving Jackie, Dr. O'Hara, Thor and the sadly taken away, Mo-Mo (such a tragedy-there are no words for my anger). Always can't wait for more out of both shows and I definitely recommend them if you like great female characters.
I am DYING to see more Glee and the premiere of Treme (David Simon's new show) about New Orleans and music). Of course they come in the same three day period, Treme on April 11 and Glee on April 13. A great article on Treme is here that makes it sound like the show will be a combination of The Wire (beaten down city backdrop + amazing realistic storytelling) and Glee (celebration of music + more individualism as well as coming together moments) which cannot make me any happier in what appeals to me. In sad news though, David Mills who writes for the show died today :( Really really sad because he wrote great episodes for The Wire and Homicide. I definitely can't wait for Glee to come back because I can really use the uplifting episodes it always brings.
Brief news on other TV and movies: Ugly Betty-OMG JUSTIN AND MARC!!! Um Justin's plotline makes me so squeeful and happy I can't even take it but god worst cliffhanger ever. American Idol-stopped watching, liked Toddrick and Andrew Garcia, hated Casey and Lee. Modern Family-SO IN LOVE. My favorite comedy at the moment, it's brilliant and everyone should watch it. The Office-loved the beginning of the last episode, Oscar = cutest EVER. Project Runway-I love Seth Aaron (I think he'll win), Mila, Jay and Anthony (he needs his own Bravo show). Can't wait to see the collections.
Oh and I got a new haircut. Never had it this short since I was like 8. It's weird but I mostly liked it besides the fact the hair dresser directly disobeyed my first instruction to keep it behind my eyes. It's fixed now though. Oh and I've been really into The West Wing these days. I feel like my love for that show cannot be contained in my body especially for my OT4. It never fails to make me laugh and believe in the world just a little bit more. |

Shippiness, sexiness and sparkle pants |
[Mar. 3rd, 2010|01:35 am] |
I have another post I've been working on but can't manage to get the words out so have a meme:
Comment on this entry with a pairing I ship from one of my fandoms and I will tell you:
1. When I started shipping them 2. What I think their challenge is 3. What makes me happy about them 4. What makes me sad about them 5. What moment I wish had never happened 6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other 7. My happily ever after for them
Please give me pairings for I am bored at the moment. Even if I only ship them a little! Check out my profile page if you need ideas.
Two links for two of my favorite men in the world:
Adam Lambert doing Sleepwalker on Leno tonight. The emotion in the song just breaks my heart so beautifully especially but you don't want me which is my favorite part of the song. And holy fuck, is he HOT HOT HOT. God that outfit and the makeup and the whole look just slays me with how sexy he is (see icon).
Johnny Weir with sparkly glittery pants! Seriously, I want these pants SO MUCH for Club Vivid. So freaking hot. And he is sooo cute and I love them (or rather, Kelly) supporting him. How I wish they could convince him to compete in the next Olympics (in RUSSIA!!!). |

I'm out. |
[Feb. 19th, 2010|12:09 am] |
Fuck the judges. Fuck this fucking sport. Fuck all of it. Johnny deserved the Bronze and was robbed. I'm so over this biased bullshit.
I can't handle this shit, I'm out. Off LJ/DW, Twitter, all media, all Olympics for a few days at least. Fuck this bullshit. Fuck it. |

I walk on water. Well, frozen water. |
[Feb. 18th, 2010|01:04 am] |
So usually I don't really watch the Olympics as most of the sports don't interest me but I do love figure skating so I've been watching it this year. I used to skate when I was a kid and loved it (I even wanted to do it when I grew up back in the day) and I loved watching Tara Lipinski and Sasha Cohen years ago. But I haven't been following it lately so I'm trying to find all my favorites and seeing whose around now. I watched pairs and after watching the story of Zhao and Shen, I really wanted them to win the gold as this was their last shot. Their short program was AMAZING, I was just in awe at how flawless and beautiful and in sync it was. By that point I was in love. Although their final wasn't as good, I was just so happy they had enough of a cushion to win. It was so scary to watch their performance, I had forgotten how nervous I could get for them not to fall. I also liked the German pair, the guy in particular was really hot, heh. There is a LOT of hot ice skating guys actually. It's fun :) I also loved that the Ukranian woman wore pants which was just so refreshing.
And then came the mens' short program where I promptly fell in love with Johnny Weir. He is totally my type: fun, entertaining, beautifully artistic, fashionista, funny comments, sexy, just perfect. Well, almost, I do hate how he likes fur but I am trying to ignore it. He has been compared to Adam Lambert but he actually reminds me of Brad, Adam's first love, in both face/body and personality although he definitely has aspects of Adam in him. And I love how he speaks his mind and gives the best quotes especially to the media. Once he called one of his performances something like vodka and coke and then when people complained, he was like you can't look to all people to be perfect, we can't be Jesus...then in a later skate, he WAS Jesus!! It was amazing.
Anyway, his outfit was to die for (he co-designed it):

The pink tassle and corset and skin! I'm in love with it sooo much. Once he's done with ice skating, he's going to do fashion which I can't wait to see what he comes up with. And the amazing part is that he's only been skating since he was 12. 12! That's so old for figure skating. But wow, is he amazing. I just love his artistry and the beautiful way he moves through the ice and jumps. He just adds such a wonderful passion and sparkle and personality to his performances. Of course the popular one that I actually had seen before the Olympics is him doing an exhibition to Poker Face by Lady Gaga which is brilliant and full of sexy.
Loved his performance at the Olympics yesterday, so beautiful and fun. Even though he didn't make any obvious mistakes, the judges only put him in sixth place which is totally bullshit. But whatever, I try not to let myself get too worked up over judging. I just hope he skates a flawless performance tomorrow night and one of the top guys does really bad so he can medal because he totally deserves it. I'm afraid he peaked when he didn't yet have the maturity for the Olympics (2006) but what can you do.
Thankfully for me, there is source! He did a eight part documentary for the Sundance channel, Be Good Johnny Weir and it is AWESOME. The promo for it is one of the best videos I've ever seen and pretty much sums him up in a nutshell at least his more in your face side. Watch it here, I swear you won't be disappointed. There is glitter and sparkles, amazing quotes (see subject line), half naked guys, great outfits! Johnny is definitely unafraid of being himself and it totally shows in the show (there's 4 episodes so far). Lots of him being half (and less) naked in which he looks damn good. If you need help acquiring it, let me know and I'll let you know where to find it.
As for the other guy skaters, I liked the first guy I watched, Florente Amodio who definitely seems like he could be good in future years (not to mention perfect Olympic story). I loved Evgeni Plushenko's jumps (I love quads) but he lacked passion on the artistic side. I loved Stephanie Lambiel for his spins which were amazing as advertised. I thought Jeremy Abbott and Patrick Chen were really cute and wanted them to do well but was disappointed in the falls. Evan Lysachek I got an evil vibe on at first and what do you know, I was right as watching Johnny's show, I found out that he is kind of an ass and his archrival so I definitely don't want him to do well. I found his program kind of meh and have no idea how it scored higher than Johnny's but whatever.
If you want some fic, try ice_slash which has lots of fic. Of which there REALLY needs to be some Adam/Johnny fic cause really, that would be hot. It is really fun to be falling in love with a new guy and finding a new little fandom as I haven't been feeling that fannish spark lately for Glee and Kradam and most of my other shows. I love the honeymoon phase :) |
