I do this meme every year and I'm not about to stop that now as it's cool to be able to go back to these and see how my year was.
Brief end of year update: I've found an excellent babysitting situation that I'm happy with (I really love working with kids most of the time) and I'm still doing freelancing work and working on my online business (slowly but will ramp up next year). My anti-depressants are still working energy/productivity wise and usually I'm happy but I'm still struggling with loneliness occasionally and am working on finding a solution to it (more later). I've started doing rock climbing and ninja warrior training at a local gym since September and I've made a LOT of progress. I've reconnected with a fandom friend and we're pretty close now even though she lives far away and have continued to enjoy visiting my cousin and kids and other family close by NYC. I'm taking a break from vidding (besides a TGIF/F vid) to focus on work stuff but still enjoy keeping up with fannish social media although my fannish interests mostly only align with femslash fandom (I'm over most guys) except for The Good Place.
Speaking of, I am going to be in LA from 2/14-2/24th including being at TGIF/F and hanging by the Escapade hotel during the con. Let me know if you want to make plans to hang out if you'll be in LA around that time!

Brief life update time: The depression has been on and off for the last two months but I'm feeling better currently although it was pretty bad a couple days ago. I'm doing some freelance work which has been going really well and helping with money. I'm still really lonely and wish I was in a romantic relationship.

My favorite video this year (of my own)
Titanium because it came out similar to how I saw it in my head and I LOVE Wonder Woman so much and it was so much fun to make. I even enjoyed clipping, CLIPPING o_0 Also it means a lot to me because that movie and song meant so much to me while I was going through hard times.
My least favourite video this year
I like all my vids this year so this question doesn't really apply. I am bummed I wasn't able to make the longer version of Body High that I had planned.
Most successful video
In terms of kudos and comments, that would be Titanium which isn't surprising considering Wonder Woman's popularity.
Video most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion
They were all appreciated fine IMO so I'm not answering this.
Most fun video
It was so fun to vid all the action scenes and pretty shots in Titanium and I had a fun time making it so let's say Titanium. Although in terms of content, Dance was pretty fun.
Video with single sexiest moment
This is always so impossible. Holtzman's gun lick in Body High or Pam pushing Tara against the wall in Be Mean or any of the many times Diana fights in Titanium (esp in slow motion? Let's say Be Mean because that whole vid was hotness for me.
Biggest vid fail Vid procrastination mostly with Crash being made in about one day.
Hardest video to make
Carry That Weight because it required a lot of work and external source in which ![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png) bessyboo helped me immensely. I also made it while going through intense depression so that made it even harder.
Most unintentionally telling video
Sort Of or Carry That Weight with the former being more intentional.
Things I've learned
Hard to say this year but I got better at working with text and external source as well as just cutting faster in general
Things to work on
Starting earlier and getting big multifandom ideas done well as well as being less of a perfectionist so I can get vids finished.
Vid projects I definitely want to get finished this upcoming year
I will get my Festivid done and I would like to vid at least one vid for TGIF/F, a Club Vivid vid for VVC and a Premieres vid for VVC. Beyond that, we'll see.
Resolutions for 2018
My biggest resolution is to finish the vids above in time for the deadlines. Honestly I don't see myself vidding as much next year because I want to focus on other life stuff and I'm having trouble feeling connected with fandom and getting meaning from vids. Vividcon ending was a huge loss to me and it's made me feel really disappointed about the vidding community and I'm reconsidering how much effort I want to put into vidding anymore. It makes me sad though. |

My favorite video this year (of my own)
Goin' Down For Real because while it took a lot of time, it made me really happy to see so many canon femslash pairings in a year that was terrible for us femslashers. I love watching it and it's just really sexy and gay which are two of my favorite things. I was really happy with how it turned out which is always important to me and I had a great time dancing to it at Club Vivid.
My least favourite video this year
I truly like all of my vids this year. If forced maybe Ready or Not just because I had limited time to make it and I wish I had more time to make a real Hamilton vid. BUT I REALLY LOVE HAMILTON and I enjoyed making the vid a lot so I truly love that vid too.
Most successful video
Most of my vids were successful as far as I am concerned but in terms of comments, Alive and Goin' Down For Real (the latter esp for online viewership).
Video most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion
I was happy with the reception for all of them but I think Suffer deserves a little more love because daaamn they are too hot together and it's one of my favorite of my own vids to rewatch it all together in that vid.
Most fun video
This is hard because the process of making Headphones, Ready or Not, ILYSB, Goin' Down For Real and Suffer were all fun to make in many ways. But I guess in terms of fun overall...ILYSB. I had deadline stress but I was so in love with these two boyfriends that it didn't even matter and it's just a cute, shippy little vid.
Video with single sexiest moment
HOW TO CHOOSE???? Like almost all of Goin' Down For Real (esp the last third) and most of Suffer too. But the one moment I think of is the last clip in Suffer where Root runs her hand down Shaw's back cause DAMN that just gets to me. So I'm going to go with that.
Biggest vid fail
As usual, rushing to make vids to deadlines is a problem as it's hard to make the vids live up to my own standards but nothing major in terms of vids this year. I suppose I had an audio issue with Suffer at Vividcon but I fixed it for the online version so *shrugs*.
Hardest video to make
Goin' Down For Real because it was my first multi vid and it took FOREVER to find all the sources and get source for them and find femslash scenes from YT videos in the actual source. Plus I struggled trying to make it sexy and look good and all fit together. But it was worth the effort in the end and it came together like I hoped.
Most unintentionally telling video
Hahaha. This question is a little #tooreal for me this year for reasons I'm not getting into here but I'd say the trio of VVC vids were more personal than I thought and I saw a different layer to Delilah once I made it so let's go with that one.
Things I've learned
Some of it is hard to put into words but the things that stick out is how to make multi vids, getting better at making sexy vids, doing more with motion, dealing with different source sizes, a little progress on cutting fast and less applied but I've learned more about color this year.
Things to work on
I'm always trying to improve my cutting and expressing ideas in vidding the best possible way. I would like to improve my technical skills across the board from learning Premiere/AE better, learning more color with Davinci Resolve (it's FREE and professional color grading software) as well as learning more about compositing and visual design in general. I would like to learn how to clip and edit faster as I have too many ideas and it takes too long to vid and I think I've let inertia carry me along too long in my current process.
Vid projects I definitely want to get finished this upcoming year
My festivids assignment OF COURSE although I'm struggling with motivation with it right now. I'm worried it'll be a one vid (or two with a quick treat) Festivids year because I'm a bit overwhelmed with other non-vidding things right now. I am DETERMINED to finish a multi vid for VVC Premieres this year that's very important and meaningful to me but I am worried about time with it. I hope to have a TGIF/F vid but worry about time as I have another multi vid I want to make for VVC plus at least one CVV vid which I already started.
Resolutions for 2017
As always, try to start vid projects and make more consistent process so I'm not rushed at the end and can get more beta feedback. Habitica (habit app that a bunch of vidders use, lmk if you want a guild invite) has helped a lot with consistency but I need to improve with doing more each day versus all at once. I'm constantly struggling with when to say no to vid ideas in order to focus on the vid ideas I most want to make so I would like to keep trying to focus on my most important vids especially in the first half of this year. As mentioned above, get better technically as well as learn more about film and visual images to work more on how to create the most meaning and beauty from the imagery I work with. I'm trying to learn more about fan studies as I would like to make more vids about fandom in the future and it helps me get a better perspective on vids and fandom as a whole. Also try to be the change I want to see in the world and talk more about vidding as well as encourage others to talk about it. I miss when the vidding community used to post more about vids back in the golden age of LJ (siiigh end of an era now). |

I'm back in Los Angeles!!! This was not the best holidays for me in NY with having to work and totally failing and feeling guilty AND having the Festivids deadline creeping closer and having a shitload of clipping and vidding to do and failing pretty bad at it. Add in a failed external hard drive and cancelled New Hampshire/cousins trip and I was not in the greatest moods and slept a lot and felt kind of depressed. But I had FIVE CATS and I spent a loooot of time with them (you can't talk to cats on the phone sadly) and hung out with my parents and friends so that was fun. It was good to get away at first but I always feel like I morph into a teenager/lazy college student when I go back to my parent's house and combined with the cold, snow and grey, it's a downer. That being said, I'm glad I went as now I have a HUGE renewed love and appreciation for Los Angeles and I'm feeling extra determined to make this the best year ever. Before I go out, here's the annual fannish end of year meme.
