Happy New Year everyone! Kinda late, yes but I hope the first month of everyone's year is going well. Just a reminder that January 15th is More Joy Day basically where you spread some joy around by doing something nice anyway you can. For example, while getting drinks for New Years, I forgot my money and some kind stranger paid it for me. I was really touched and it brightened my night not to mention sticking with me even now. People can just be so wonderful. So now it's time to spread it through fandom!
It's Vividcon season YAY! Go here for details but the most important is that registration is at midnight Eastern US time, between Saturday February 28 and Sunday March 1. There's a poll there too to vote for the date. I so cannot wait.
I have a new show! I am massively in love with Beautiful People, a UK show about the life of Simon Doonan (Barneys Creative Director) who I fell for when watching Top Design. It's hilarious, full of joy and fashion and musical theatre and family love and craziness. I just adore it to death. And the older Simon is SO hot and has he and his boyfriend (in the prologue/epilogues) are so cute. Simon and Kylie are my absolute favorites, their friendship is so wonderful. Only six episodes but I savored every episode and love it completely. Definitely worth a try!
Speaking of British TV- Re: Doctor Who Casting Spoilers ( Under the Cut reaction just in case-also spoilers from the special )
Yay Philly winning! What an awesome football game. I always stood by my Donovan and I just *knew* they'd win this game. Love the Giants but they had their glory last year and now I just reeally want the Eagles to win the Superbowl, let alone be in it.
Does anyone know if the BSG webepisodes are worth watching? I haven't seen them yet and usually them up but I do want to know more about what happened in the finale last year so anything about that?
deathisyourart writes about Beecher/Kellar here and talks about some of the reasons why I love them SO MUCH OMG. B/K is one of those couples that never leave you and just rest in your soul until you think about them and spontaneously burst into love for them.
clayangel did this AMAZING comic of the story of how Ryan and Colin met here. As someone who loves fic but loves a visual even more, this is everything I've always wanted to see and makes me SO HAPPY and it's just utterly adorable and romantic. God, they are so meant to be *sighs happily* Everyone should check it out!
It makes going through my iTunes library and rating everything SO worth it when I can listen to my four star playlist and love everything in it. Mmmm music. I will say my biggest disappointment so far has been Kanye West's new album. I only liked one or two of the songs and I feel like he took all the *soul* out of the songs that I loved on his previous albums. I mean, nothing ever compared to The College Dropout which is still on my top five album list but there was always a few songs I LOVED and most songs I enjoyed. I was giving songs ones and twos! I almost never do that so it was sad. Couldn't get into Fleet Foxes either and I don't get why they're so loved but I care much more about my favorite rather than the best in music so I don't mind. I am however loving Bitter:Sweet's The Mating Game, Artic Monkey's Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, Amanda Jenssen's Killing My Darlings, Aimee Mann's Lost in Space, Flobot's Fight With Tools, The Kill's Midnight Boom, Matt Pond PA's Several Arrows Later and Last Light, OK Go's self-titled and Oh No and Spoon's Kill The Moonlight.
If Youtube takes down your youtube vids: Fight it!. Check the comments for more. Also, how to beat the audio finding system here.
TV's back! I loved the new Brothers & Sisters (x2), Gossip Girl, Scrubs, Ugly Betty (the best imo, loved it soo much) and Greys. Also caught up on SGA and saw the finale which was alright but the best part was that it and Vegas convinced me to read some John/Rodney fic and it was gooood. My favorite was A Place On The Corner which is the cutest thing ever and is just my Rodney perfectly and why I love him. I laughed so many times and it's all just a perfect love story. I still can't believe it's over...thank god for fandom. |

TV love |
[Aug. 27th, 2008|01:10 am] |
I love, love, love Slings & Arrows! I am in the midst of complete love must watch every episode right now OMG and it is glorious. Just finished Season One which was awesome. I got pimped into the show at Vividcon wherein I learned that not only was it smart, all about Shakespeare and stars pretty Paul Gross, it's FUNNY. What I'm really loving about it is it explores what I find most fascinating about acting in theater/tv/film is how actors get themselves into a character and the whole creative process of it. So cool. And the OT3 is awesome and Geoffrey and Ellen are so, so cute and I just love everyone except Holly. Which are her and Richard kind of like Macbeth and his wife? Wish my Shakespeare knowledge was better so I could get everything. Beautiful, wonderful end to the season though. I always forget that wonderful feeling of *needing* to marathon every episode of a show and this one is hitting me exactly in that place. Seriously if you like smart, funny shows about Shakespeare, definitely check this show out!
Then SGA and Flashpoint had to go and break me with their latest episodes.
( Spoilers for Stargate Atlantis: The Shrine )
Everytime I think I'm okay with SGA's cancellation, they pull something like this and make me love the show SO MUCH. Definitely in my top three episodes, Tao of Rodney, The Shrine, McKay and Mrs. Miller (notice a pattern?) although I have to watch Tao again to get the exact order. You just can't replace these characters and relationships. I'll watch Stargate Universe because I'm curious but really unless they get better writers/create awesome characters (with good actors), I'll doubt it'll be any good. Stupid networks and writers.
And then Flashpoint with the BROTHERS and the Supernatural and Due South references! I don't usually get into one shot characters but DAMN THEM I'm so hooked and I want moremoremore.
( Spoilers for Flashpoint 107 )
"Slash is what happens when you take away the glass." Yes, that! (thank you Henry, Jenkins) God, I'm easy. You'd think I'd learn my lesson after Climbing Up the Walls, obsessive24's AMAZING video that was my very favorite vid of Vividcon and that everyone should go running to check out right now (Supernatural, Firefly, Heroes). It blows my time every time I watch it. There isn't enough words for my love. How much do I love dark, messed up relationships? A LOT. More vid recs and VVC report to come but I have to give a special mention to this.
And yay to a second series of Flashpoint! I'm currently dying for the new season to start especially The Office, Pushing Daisies, House, How I Met Your Mother and Heroes. I miss the feeling of having a ton of beloved shows to watch and getting squeeful every week. Can't wait! |

Not a good day. |
[Aug. 21st, 2008|06:03 pm] |
I usually never do these but it's been a horrible crappy day so here it goes, my thread at the love meme.
So of course today I have to deal with stupid computer shit AGAIN and I'm still dealing with it, yesterday I deal with school crap all because I was an idiot AND I find out that SGA was cancelled :( I did not expect that at all and didn't have a show canceled last season so I totally forgot how that feels. I don't want to lose my Rodney and McShep and Team. It's just not fair and seriously what else does SciFi have without them and BSG? Argh. Still behind on all my VVC catchup as I finish catching up on my Flist and I can't seem to not turn doing my con report into this big overwhelming thing no matter how much I've learned that it's a great way for it to not get done. Thank god for VVC and the vids from it being awesome though, con crud or not. I want to vid though and I can't! It sucks but hopefully I will by the time my birthday comes along. Of the good: I FINALLY found a vidsong for an idea I've had for two years. Hell yeah!
Oh and my aunt (grandma's sister) died last Friday so I'm going to be going to Pittsburgh this Friday and Saturday for the funeral. I didn't know her that well but it's still sad *sigh*
Sorry for the depressing entry, hopefully my squee will return soon. |

I have a lot of stuff to catch up on so bear with me.
So I have made it back to Syracuse, NY but not before the Travel Curse struck again! I had my first late night flight a week and a half ago and it was awesome to have Dan in Real Life being the movie they played for us. I had a one stop flight so I landed in Philly where I had to go from the D gate to the F gate. I carry my heavy laptop bag and backpack and walk to get to the F gate when I see a metaphoric fork in the road so to speak saying one way to the ABCD gates and another sign to E and F and another with a warning about how if you go this way you have to rescreen. They mention a shuttle but I don't see a sign for it so I go towards the E and F gate. When I see a security guard I ask him where I can catch the shuttle to the F gate. Surprise! I missed it and I was told I couldn't go back and had to keep walking. And of course I had to rescreen at 7 am EST with a huge line and 50 minutes til my flight left it. I kept getting closer and closer and hoping I'd make it, pissed off because I never wanted to be in a situation where I would miss my flight (I always try to get there 2 hours early) and of course with 10 minutes to my flight leaves I get through airport security where they take five minutes taking out ALL my hard drives and cords and putting them through the baggage checker even when I told them I needed to hurry. And of course my gate was the farthest away so even though I ran I missed my flight. Thankfully another one left in two hours so it wasn't too bad a wait but then when I get back to Syracuse they lose my check in luggage. The good news is they returned it a day later but it was still extra frustration.
I'm back now and although it's cold, I'm all layered up and at the moment it's not too bad so I don't even need my winter coat :) I can deal with it for a few months. I am SO happy to see my cats again, I missed them so much and now I have many hugs and cuddle sessions to catch up on. Am currently looking for a job which I should hopefully get soon as I need some money. The bad news is TWO of my hard drives have stopped working, the ones with all my DVDs (thankfully I have some on my last remaining hard drive for my current vid projects), music (I have some on my laptop so I'm not totally screwed there) and TV shows. But I do have fast internet back so it doesn't take very long to download stuff. I had forgotten how nice it is to download an episode in 10 minutes or so :D I'm disappointed that a short trip to NYC I was going to do today didn't happen but thankfully NYC is only 5 hours or so away and hopefully I can visit soon! I really want to see Bryant Park and hopefully Tim Gunn if I can plan a trip right. I just miss the city even if LA will always own my heart.
I spent my time after my trip catching up on some shows, marathoning Lost and reorganizing my vid files and a few other things. Up til now, My Videos has been organized by having many folders named by fandom and I'd put a vid I downloaded into the fandom folder it belonged too. But to make it easier to open up a lot of vids all at once, I decided to rename ALL my vid files by adding the fandom to the beginning of the video even if it was just "Anime", "Movies" or "Multifandom". I also made a New Vids folder for the vids I download that I'm too lazy to rename and to make it easier to watch new vids I download. It took awhile and I had to reconstruct my vids playlist but it's been worth it has everything is much more organized and easier to get at and with my 40+ GB of vids, I need that. How does everyone else organize their vids? In order to catch up with my Flist I also made some filters to put every single member of my Flist on a smaller reading list to make it less overwhelming to reply to posts. So far that's worked pretty well although hopefully I won't need to use it too much.
The Writer's strike is over! YAY :D I find it wonderfully coincidental that I leave for CA when the strike began and left right when it ended. I am so happy to at least get a salvaged season with some news episodes of some of my favorite shows. Namely The Office in which we get 6 more episodes and possibly an hour finale! I'm am just SO EXCITED to see the next episode on April 10th which is supposed to be amazing and funny and intense and unique. So I'm really looking forward to that. Not so excited about them skipping ahead in time because I like to see how things progress and for vidding purposes. The good news is almost all my shows are renewed and I'm hoping desperately that Friday Night Lights will be renewed. I cannot wait til April! Should be awesome to have new TV on almost every night.
In hopefully what will be the last time I talk politics before November, a quick word. I am for (and will vote for) whatever Democrat wins the primary. I'd be okay with either of them although I prefer Obama but as long as Bush is gone and there is not another Republican in the White House then I'm happy. Should be fun to live with a super conservative and Ron Paul supporter politics people until November though (NOT). I will find refuge in my politics free zone or mostly liberal Flist happy place though.
Okay, meme time! ( 5 question and 5 OTP memes )
[written yesterday] Yay Project Runway tonight! I love Wednesday's because it's the start of new episodes with PR and Torchwood. And tonight is a reunion episode and I LOVE reunion episodes. The video montages are always awesome and there is lots more Tim Gunn and it's fun seeing all the contestants again. I don't think they can ever beat the S2 one though but here's hoping. I'm SURE we're going to see a Ricky crying video and a Christian one with all the time he says fierce or similar funny statements. And this time I can actually watch it live and not have to wait five days for the torrent!
( Spoilers up to the latest Project Runway episode (not the reunion) )
( Spoilers for Stargate Atlantis up to Midway )
Contrary to most of my Flist, I'm just not feeling the Supernatural love these days. I don't know if it's overexposure or S3 in general but I just can't get emotional about the boys and show anymore :( I cried at the S2 finale and now just nothing. And I'm not really intellectually interested anymore. I have really liked the last few episodes and Dean and Sam have been really cute so at least there's that. I'm glad everyone else is loving and investing in the show though.
So I'm watching Eli Stone primary for Victor Garber and thankfully it is pretty funny enough to keep me entertained. The biggest GLEE moment is definitely getting to see Victor sing. Here's a youtube clip of it. I love his voice. It's such a disconnect seeing him so NOT!Jack Bristow but his line at the scene reminds me strongly of him so at least there's that. But he SMILES! I will never get enough of that; it makes me smile in turn. The other thing about the show I love is Tom Amandes is in it! I loved him in Everwood and just seeing him onscreen makes me happy.
( Spoilers for Eli Stone up to 103 )
In more Victor Garber singing clips of LOVE, here's him singing and then singing and dancing in Anne with my favorite song from the musical. I pretty much die with glee everytime I see it. He's SO CUTE! It is a little too much for me to handle. Oh and him being gay only makes me love him even more. I sure do know how to pick them :)
Next post: DIY, more TV and Jack/Irina gushing (OMG I LOVE THEM SO MUCH). |

TV Thoughts |
[Jan. 24th, 2008|06:44 pm] |
Here are are some thoughts in varying length on the TV I've been watching as I wait to watch more Alias:
( Spoilers for Alias up to 304 )
( Spoilers for Stargate Atlantis 413: Quarentine )
( Spoilers for Torchwood 201: Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang and 202: Sleeper )
( Spoilers for The Wire 504-507. Major SPOILER ALERT )
I decided to check out Oz because it sounded like The Wire and to see Beecher/Keller. I do like it overall but it somehow manages to be even more depressing and hopeless than The Wire but hey, it is a prison. I really like some of the narration and theme stuff they do and I really loved Beecher's arc in the first season. I just have one spoilerly thing to say under the cut:
( Spoilers for Oz up to 204, Losing Your Appeal )
I have to add that I'm so sad Heath Ledger died :( It's a horrible tragedy for such a young talent to die so early and I always loved him in his movies. Brokeback Mountain is still my second favorite movie and his portrayal of Ennis gets to me so much. But I also love 10 Things I Hate About you especially the singing scene which is one of the most romantic I've ever seen (at least in movies) and he's even really cute in A Knight's Tale. I haven't lived through many, if any celebrity deaths that have really affected me but this one definitely goes on that list. He will always be remembered in his art and the change it brought to the world. |

I've had a really crazy/busy week but I wanted to say something about TV because I had planned a post but took a 5 hour nap instead.
I LOVE TV. It completes me, it really does. Having so many of my shows premiering this week and seeing my Flist squee just reminded me of what TV adds to my life and how happy and gleeful it makes me. Plus I got to watch some of it with lianri which was a lot of fun. I'm still behind on seeing some premieres/second episodes but I will get to that by tomorrow hopefully. For now, short non-spoilery reactions.
How I Met Your Mother: Love it! Hilarious and hot and cute and sweet. Just the way I like it. Chuck: I enjoyed it! Very entertaining and a great concept. Chuck is so cute. Heroes: LOVE it! Mr. Bennett and Claire! *hearts them* Matt and Mohinder and Molly! My super cute Hiro is back :D Somehow this show turned into a character love show for me. And it was funny! House: OMG LOVE! I still have not recovered. This is one of THE episodes that shows why I watch the show along with Act Your Age, All In, House vs. God and Safe. Lots of House hilarity, House/Wilson SQUEE and House/Cuddy love. The OT3 rules all. Reaper: I enjoyed it! Much funnier than I thought and pretty entertaining concept. Pushing Daises: Not on yet but I rewatched half the pre-air version and LOVED it once again. The pretty and the concept and the narrator and the cute main character and oh, everything have won me over. Private Practice: Meh. I love LA and I love Addison but that's about it. The characters need to get better but I'll give it a few episodes. Gossip Girl (pilot): I like the idea of it but right now it's not clicking for me. NYC is awesome and I hear the books are good so I'm giving it more time. Dirty Sexy Money: LOVE it! Second favorite pilot of the season and I think it's awesome (the name IS the best). The characters are fun and interesting, the plot is entertaining, it's funny and it reminds me of Arrested Development which I miss a lot so this helps. Highly recommended. Ugly Betty: Love it! It totally made me cry yet was so funny. Also, I LOVE Justin times infinity. He and Hiro are having an adorable contest and Justin is winning at the moment. The Office: LOVED IT! My show is back and once again it's the best and makes me the happiest. I laughed throughout the entire thing and loved all my characters SO MUCH. How is this show so good? My glee is indescribably high. Grey's Anatomy: I liked it. It's gotten better but a few of last season's problems and one new one is still dragging the show down. But I LOVED Cristina who is awesome and rules all so I'll keep watching. Stargate Atlantis: I liked it! My Rodney love is back in full force and McShep is still super cute and are so boyfriends. Yay!
May TV never leave me again. |

More Vid Recs from Vividcon |
[Aug. 20th, 2007|10:10 pm] |
So here's my complete list of some of my favorite vids from Vividcon. These are not the only good vids from the con but the ones that stick out to me whether because of originality, emotion, movement or favorite show.
Vogue (300) by sockkpuppett: This is a memorizing vid that uses split screen, motion with sped up/slowed down footage and color to beautiful effect. Also, there are pretty, pretty men. A must watch no matter if you've seen the movie or not. Female gaze, FTW! Women's Work (Supernatural) by sisabet and sockkpuppett: This is the part of the Supernatural that most people would like to ignore. The visual treatment of women on the show can be disturbing and offensive to watch all at once but it's all from the show and vidded with the greatness you can expect with these two vidders. A feminist vid that really needs to be seen and thought about no matter your conclusions. Snakes on a Plane (Harry Potter) by dualbunny: The song choice makes the vid with all the awesome snake imagery in Harry Potter and little!Harry having to grow up to face the world. Hilarious clip choices and fantastic use of motion. Another great Harry Potter vid, yay! Want (Supernatural) by destina: Deliciously dark and sexy evil point of view vid with the lyrics fitting incredibly well. Visually this vid is stunning with distinctive images, overlays, parallels and motion. And taken from fandom's pov, it only gets better. Sugar (Smallville) by keewick: I never thought I'd see the day a good vid about Lana would premiere at Vividcon but this one completely blew me away. It shows Lana's relationships with Whitney, Clark and Lex and why she's with with them. The imagery is incredibly beautiful and the song choice is perfect for all the different aspects in her life. West of Her Spine (Dexter) by sweetestdrain: Incredibly disturbing in a very, very good way. The music has the underlying dark edge to it that works for a great twist in the point of view character showing both the true and false sides to his soft sides. A unique and very affecting Dexter vid. Martina (Veronica Mars) by keewick: I was so excited to see a VM vid and this one did not disappoint at all. Also, I totally guessed this one was by Keely and I suck at guessing but the distinctive song choice and quick cutting with emotional impact gave it away for me. It explores the rape arcs on Veronica Mars with frightening images as well as the way Veronica stays strong throughout it. The clicks of shoes walking and the internal motion in this particularly win me over. Beethoven's Fifth of Gold Digger (Gone With The Wind) by absolutedestiny: You would not expect Kanye West's Goldigger to work with the movie but it does somehow. I love the cutting and the great clip-lyric matches especially. The underlying gender and race issues are interesting as well which absolutedestiny talks about in his LJ. Filthy Mind (Multifandom) by sol_se: So many amazing parallels between shows in this vid. If you vid three rains of bloods, I am almost guarenteed to love the vid. Not to mention Faith and Sam (from Life on Mars) dancing. The cutting is great either quickly pulling you into all the great associations or lingering on the best ones as well as the motions all moving right into one another. Very, very cool. Nothing New (Firefly) by heresluck: Oh, MAL. A beautiful, heartbreaking look at the Mal/Inara relationship with perfect song choice (as usual) and such pretty motion. If the last clip doesn't break your heart, there's nothing I can do to help you.
( More vid recs under the cut )
Speaking of Baltar, when I first watch Battlestar Galactica, I hated him. I thought he was scum of the earth who deserved to die horribly. But then I stopped taking him seriously. Now I see him as funny and enjoy him from a distance. I even have a bit of a fondness for him. It definitely helps me enjoy the show more.
I have all the VVC discs burned on my computer now so I have a great playlist with all of them plus the auction vids. It's lots of fun to listen to and go back and watch. I collected a bunch of vid discs from Vividcon including 2004 Premieres (which I'm SO happy to have), heresluck's vids (she's currently taking orders for them here), greensilver and cherryice's vids, morgandawn and friends' vids, gwyn_r and friends' vids and absolutedestiny's vids. And melina123's vid DVD should be coming soon. Not a bad collection along with my VVC2005, VVC2006, Bascon and Escapade discs. I love seeing vids on TV and high quality on my computer.
I finished Stargate Atlantis! I enjoyed it except for ( Spoiler for 3x17 Sunday ) Still in love with Rodney and excited for next season. I hope they continue to make more character focused episodes and 3-D villians.
I cannot wait for The Office DVDs come out! I probably won't finish my vids for the show until after they do so I can have shiny DVD vids. My plan to begin trying to vid everyday is stalled at the moment as I try to finish VVC stuff but I really hope I can start soon. My New Year's resolution was to "Vid More. Vid Better." so I'm hoping actively trying to make vidding a habit will help with the first part. I have 10 vids I'd like to finish by the end of the year or at least by January so we'll see how that goes. |

I made it! Also, DW and SGA |
[Aug. 9th, 2007|01:50 pm] |
I am here in Springhill Suites in Chicago at Vividcon. Yay! Transportation wasn't too much of a hassle besides minor things like forgetting my iPod USB cord *face palms* and things being slow. But it is all worth it now that I am here with VVC people that I know and wireless internet. Looking forward to seeing more people!
The only bad thing is I'm still not finished with Doctor Who (finished 3x06) and SGA (finished 3x15). The good news is I am LOVING both seasons of both shows. The Doctor Who S3 plots are exactly what I love (DALEKS=love), Shakespeare/Harry Potter, Doctor backstory and I can't wait to get to the Jack episodes. I am enjoying Martha a lot, at the moment I like her a bit better than Rose but they're both enjoyable in the end and I do love how Rose is not forgotten. Somehow I have gone from thinking the Tenth Doctor is mildly cute to SQUEE cute and really hot in that lanky way. So that certainly helps.
As for SGA, I have gone from a crush on Rodney to fullblown, total fangirl LOVE. He's on my OTC list now. I want the show to be All About Rodney so I've LOVED McKay and Mrs. Miller and The Tao of Rodney both which overloaded my squee-o-meter and left me in a ecstatic, blissful state all evening. The Game was also perfect and slashy and cuteness of McShep so I loved it almost as much. And I am really loving the plots of the show and how they're making the Wraith complex villians and not just one dimensional, disco clothes wearing bad guys.
I will definitely get these finished before Premieres because I will NOT be spoiled for them. I'll probably be watching both starting with Doctor Who tonight so if anyone wants to watch them with me, I'd love to watch with fellow fans. And still I am just SO glad I made it to VVC and it's finally here and I have a whole day to relax and meet people before programming starts tomorrow. YAY VIVIDCON! |

Sci-fi shows, Vid rec, Vid Feedback and VIVIDCON!!! |
[Aug. 1st, 2007|09:30 pm] |
So it's been awhile since my last post. I've been feeling rather uncommunicative lately (read: lazy) and working a lot hasn't exactly made me feel very motivated to post. Instead I have desperately been trying to catch up with Stargate Atlantis and Doctor Who by VIVIDCON (!!). I'm on SGA 2x17 and Doctor Who 2x09 and I've got to finish the third seasons of both so I don't get spoiled in one week. Sadly I have given up on Life on Mars (but I have 4 episodes left so it's still possible!) and Farscape (which I will watch right after VVC) but I still have a little bit of hope for LotR which I'm a bad fan for not reading/watching yet. So far I have found five reasons to watch SGA:
1. Rodney McKay 2. Vids 3. Rodney 4. McKay/Sheppard (I finally saw the white room episode! And the end scene in Trinity is made of squee) 5. Have I mentioned Rodney?
The geek love of Rodney is very strong not to mention the cuteness, paranoia, sarcasm, (earned) arrogance and many other things. I absolutely loved Duet if only because of laughing so much and the kiss (!!!). In terms of Doctor Who, Ten has been growing on me with all his cuteness. I do adore the Ten/Rose friendship although I like their relationship nice and platonic. I really enjoy how the romantic relationship is almost like slash in that it's there if you want to see it but not there if you don't. I still find both shows plots rather sci-fi procedural (although SGA does have a benefit of the Wraith series arc) and thus boring at times but hey, I've managed House, Due South and Supernatural so I'm dealing with it. Doctor Who sometimes suffers from this the worst but I was very surprised and happy by School Reunion which was awesome not only because there was GILES (which I squeed about for the first five minutes and at various times in the show) but there was lots of emotional resonance and contained the things I enjoy most about DW: discussion about what it means to be the Doctor and having to always be alone. Plus, robot dog! And I actually recognized Sarah Jane as an old companion (I think it was settai's posts) so that was a great idea to bring her back. I'm building a lot of high expectations for next season with everything I hear about Martha and the Master and I'm worried that I should tone it down. So I have two questions for Doctor Who fans:
[Poll #1031921]
So first I have a vid rec that makes me completely happy, gleeful and full of love today. makesmewannadie won halcyon_shift for Sweet Charity and got her to make Everybody Needs Somebody to Love, a multifandom video that contains some of the most happiest, cutest scenes from a variety of TV shows. If you ever need something to cheer up your day, this is it. It's a love letter to fandom and to me shows how much I love it from the shows to the ships to the people. And I have to say the Heroes clip is the most perfect thing that ever was perfect. Go watch and leave feedback!
Speaking of vid feedback, I am finally feeling ready to do it. Problem is I have a huge backlog and I'm not sure where to begin. So if you want me to give you feedback on any vid(s) that you've done, comment to this post and I'll comment on your vid. Being a perfectionist at heart, it usually takes at least a paragraph. I just love letting people know how much I appreciate their work and finding out new vids so feedback will be great for that.
I can't believe next week is VIVIDCON OMG! I will be getting to the hotel around 11:30 or 12 on Thursday and am leaving Monday night so hopefully that will give me plenty of time to hang out with everyone. I'm so excited now that the schedule is up even though once again I'm tempted to only go to panels (I mean, Why vid? Hip Hop Vidding!!!, Vid Structure, HOW VIDS WORK=sooo good) but I hope to make it to a few vidshows. Maybe even some parts of Nearly New if there are some premiering vids and to see my vid in it. Also I've actually made a list of every person whose attending in terms of their LJ names (and a few non) with the help of various posts and polls so now I'll actually be able to recognize more people. And to anyone who's going, I'm always happy to talk to anyone about anything from vids to RL as I'm always looking to meet new people (and old!) who love vids. It should be fun no matter how nervous I am with a vid premiering and even seeing people again is always a bit nervewracking when my shy tendencies start to come out. But Vividcon is always worth it and after having the time of my life last year, I hope this year is just as good, if not better. One more week!
P.S. I swear I will finish the Stockbridge, Harry Potter and Torchwood posts I have yet to make. In the meantime, I have enjoyed reading my Flist's comments on HP and everything else as usual!
ETA: Also, courtesy of lianri, I have a Heroes vid idea! And I figured out a way to make it visually interesting so I'm all excited now :D And if anyone wants to rec me any kind of Hiro or Hiro/Ando vid, it'd make me very happy. |

So I am having a very good week. Everything just seems to be coming together.
-The sun is shining and its warm outside. And its Decemember! Hee, it never gets old. It was actually really windy on Wednesday which I wouldn't mind if it wasn't freezing. Disappointing California, disappointing. But I'm not afraid to use my winter coat. Luckily it didn't come to snowpants. I suppose I should feel bad for the snow and cold that apparently other parts of the country are experiencing. *thinks about my 18 years of cold winters* Nope, I don't think so. *gloats* -I finished my big essay! And it didn't suck. My perfectionist side is happy and I'm glad and relieved its done. Now I just have to get through the next two weeks of finals and papers but I think I can do it. And in one of my classes I can even make a vid for my final project :) And in another essay I can do poetry so it's looking up on the academic front. -Christmas is coming! I love the cheerfulness of the holiday season. I can't wait to see my cats again not to mention my friends and parents. And get them to buy me things. I actually bought a cheap printer/copier/scanner and relented in finally getting a cell phone as presents for myself on Black Friday. And speaking of presents, charmax made me some vidding icons that I love madly. Vidding icons, yay! -Speaking of vidding, I can't wait to be able to vid! It's killing me to not have the time. My space is running out on my hard drive as I have *counts them* 4 fandoms heavily represented on there (mostly in DVD format, whole episodes). And I want to squeeze in another one. Is it Decemember 17th yet? -I'm still behind on a few shows but I'm nearing the end of BSG S2 (Lay Down Your Burdens Pt1) and I am still loving the show. I can't wait to have time to watch more shows. My current schedule of shows I want to watch completely by the end of January (after BSG):
1) Due South (I'm on the 1x12, I think) 2) Stargate Atlantis (I'm on 1x15ish) 3) The OC (2x16ish), Lost (2x06ish, watching mostly because of Nathan/obsessed friend), Wonderfalls (1x03ish) *I have no idea what order I'm watching these in but I want to get them caught up/finished 4) Farscape (I want to understand those vids!) 5) Hopefully I'll have sometime to rewatch some BtVS, AtS and SPN episodes
If you don't know by now, I have a high tolerance for TV shows. If you doubt me, I watched Laguna Beach and didn't completely hate it (which in my defense, I only watched for the pretty California shots). This holds true for a lot of things including music, books/fanfic and movies but except for music, I am decidingly more picky with the latter two these days. This is really helpful in that I'm also slightly spoiler phobic. I find it enhances my viewing experience when I don't have any advance idea of what happens except for a preview or two. Which is not helpful for vid watching as I don't like being visually spoiled much either. Which is why I plan to watch a lot of shows and why having a lot of vids in a fandom motivates me to want to watch the show. I like to actually understand what's going on in the vids.
This leads me to the always helpful posts where vidders post commentary on awesome vids making me really, really happy. Go watch, read and feedback! |

Just about done with Supernatural and so I'm trying to decide what show to watch next. I've heard great things about Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who and Stargate Atlantis (and I want to see the vids to them) so those are the three I'm trying to decide on now. Take your pick:
