So it's been a long couple of days. I'm trying to get Premiere working again and I keep running into roadblocks. I tried to fix Windows 7 (failed), reinstalled it with much trouble, forgot my copy of CS4 so had to get a new one, had trouble installing that, had trouble getting avisynth files into Premiere and now...I can't get them to play.

I use DGIndex, get the avs file automatically, put up a deinterlacing line and it all inputs into Premiere fine. It plays in VirtualDub fine. But when I try to play it in the source section or in the timeline, I see nothing but the gray of Premiere. I've tried searching the internet to no avail. Can someone please please pleeeease help me?

I have this vid idea I'm dying to vid and it is slowly driving me crazy not to be able to vid it. It truly is like torture, I can barely think of anything else.

[Current Music |"I Want to Hold Your Hand" cover by Chris Colfer]

So things have been up in the air for the last couple weeks but I finally know what I'm doing this fall. Unfortunately although I applied again to appeal the decision (with some great people helping me), Chapman once again rejected my appeal. So I'm not going back to Chapman University. At least I tried my hardest to get back in and now I see it as their loss. After much angsting and thinking it over, I finally found a backup plan that has its own benefits. I'm going to be attending Los Angeles City College this fall and then look to transfer to Cal State LA or Cal State Northridge for Spring (waiting on results now) or Fall of next year. I'm going to be taking some GE and business courses this semester (a speech and health class, computer science for MIS, managerial accounting and Business Law at the moment) and I'm really excited to have a fresh start and do well in them. I also want to start looking for internships-paid would be best but even unpaid would be helpful for experience. Basically I want to not repeat my previous mistakes and actually make the most of college.

The best part is the college is near Downtown LA which is my favorite place in the city so I'm going to get an apartment in the city and live there. I'm soooo excited. For those unaware, downtown LA (referred to as DTLA) is undergoing a revitalization at the moment and there are a lot of people moving there along with new businesses, restaurants, etc popping up everywhere. It's really exciting and there's a lot of activism and the like there to try to improve the community. I love the aura of DTLA, it's so exciting and invigorating and I can't wait to live there. I love being around tall buildings, lots of people, events and fun places to go to no matter where you go. I already found a really cool coffee/sweets shopa, cute lunch place with great food and a beautiful bookstore to hang out in. The best thing that's happening right now is Artwalk which I haven't gone to yet because of conflicts but I'm going to the one in September and I'm dying to go. Basically they close off the streets, tons of people come out to check out the art galleries/restaurants and there are specials and I've heard it's amazing. I really want to get involved in the local community to help create more of a community and help prevent poverty, homelessness and any other social problem around here. I'm really interested in learning more/experiencing more of the educational system (for a few startup type ideas I have) so I'm looking to get involved in tutoring and after school programs that help enrichment. I want to really experience what it's like living there so I can use that knowledge to think of ways to help.

Fandom wise it's been hard to keep up internet wise since I've been going to a lot of free internet places (I'm waiting on money to get my own place). I'm working on reviewing source for a upcoming vid I'm dyyyying to do so that's taking a lot of time right now. One other problem is the PC side of my computer isn't working which is causing another delay in getting my vid up. I hate dealing with this kind of stuff argh. Glad my Mac can bootcamp though, probably need to reinstall Windows. I've also been catching up with Breaking Bad which is AMAZING. I stopped watching S3 in a slow part and then of course it speeds up after that episode. The end of S3 just destroyed me completely and now I have no idea what's going to happen. Jesse is still my total favorite and keeps me from being too depressed about it. But Gus is pretty awesome too and reminds me of Stringer in some ways. I really can't wait for Fall TV to come back (GLEE) as well as Mad Men which I miss a LOT. It's not the same without it and it's usually on in August so I miss it a lot (especially when seeing Banana Republic's clothing displays at The Grove).

I am really looking forward to getting settled here and not being so all over the place. But hey, I'm in LA, I'm looking forward to my future and I feel good about the possibilities of life so I'll take it.

[Current Mood |rushed]

So tomorrow I'm leaving to drive back to NY. Once again, if you live close by the route I'm driving and would like to hang out or whatever along the way, let me know. So far the plan is to drive along the 15 and then 40 E out of California and into Arizona making a stop for the Grand Canyon (where I will be reading Strata because I'm a fangirl like that) and then continue through New Mexico/Texas that night. Saturday and Sunday I will continue on 40 E through Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas (might stop at Conway for a moment since it's along the way). Monday or the night before I'll be going through Tennesee, getting on 81 N and going through West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and then into New York Monday or Tuesday. Should hopefully be less rushed than the last time so that will be nice. Trying to go the less snowy, warmer route. Looking forward to seeing some states I haven't seen.

Some bad news: my iPod Touch broke. The screen was finally so cracked that it messed something up. Instead of paying $150 to get it replaced, I bought a cheap Nano off of Craigslist and am going to save up to buy the 64 GB iPod Touch when I have the money (space! voice control!). Missing my Touch a lot, so many things wrong with the Nano that I am not pleased with but it is soooo nice to be able to listen to music again. Music really is my friend, without it I got lonely.

So busy trying to get stuff done and packed. Will try to stop on Sunday to get my Festivid post unlocked, hopefully that will work out. I will say the one thing I will not miss here is the spectacularly horrible internet that is randomly slow at times. Arghhhh. Nothing pisses me off more.

Anyways been vidding/clipping more than usual and it is awesome. Looking forward to getting some good stuff done this year.

[Current Mood |frustrated]

So I've developed a plan for my year to try to get some of my dreams and goals accomplished. I'm really excited about it and have been making daily to do lists in order to keep tabs on what I need to do. I'm using a small notebook to write down all my thoughts and ideas and so far it's proving very helpful.

My first thing is getting the money to go back to Chapman or my backup, Santa Monica College. Who knows how that'll turn out but I've been working on getting financial aid from both. Chapman starts classes on January 26th so hopefully I'll be leaving a few days before then and Santa Monica starts in mid-February but I'll be trying to leave as soon as possible to get out of the cold. I've decided to major in Computer Information Systems while taking some TV classes and doing a lot of TV research and experience on the side so I can get in the industry or some job related to TV after I graduate. I'd major in TV but the major at my school is focused on the creative side of things and as much as I love art, I'm just not an artist in the true sense of the word and don't want to waste my time struggling through scriptwriting classes (not to mention the application). I'm interested in getting some computer and business skills so this major totally works for me (low on essays helps too). So for the rest of my list:

1) Get all A's and B's in my classes. This is the most important thing and goes before everything else. I need to prioritize and not save things til the last minute which can be paralyzing if it's a big task. It's a huge boost to my confidence and self-esteem if I do this so I'm going to keep it at the top of my list. This blog is proving helpful with lots of good tips for any students out there.

2) Be at a healthy weight and stay healthy by playing a sport. I reeeeeeally can't wait to get back to California so I can play tennis outside along with many other sports. Running is alright but I don't like to exercise unless it's fun and sports are lots of fun for me.

3) Meet new people, find new friends and develop some good relationships. I really miss my friends at Chapman (and my cushy job) but I'd really like to branch out and meet more people like I wish I'd done more my freshman year. I especially want to meet some more TV lovers even if they don't go to my school.

4) Make every effort to have a romantic relationship. Cause I really, really want one and I have lots of romantic experiences I'd like to have. Doesn't hurt to try.

5) Finish at least three vids. I'd even limit it to two just as long as I finish my auction vid and a Vividcon one. I just need to get something done this year as my fannish output last year was quite pathetic.

6) Keep up with TV and finish at least The West Wing, The X-Files and The Sopranos.

7) Build, organize and listen to music collection including classic albums and top contemporary ones.

8) Read Wicked (finish), LotR, The Temeraire Series, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Watchman.

9) Read Plato, Aristotle, other classics and nonfiction about TV and business.

10) Volunteer for LGBT rights/Obama.

11) Watch vids, keep up on feedback, stay caught up in fandom.

12) Learn Spanish because it's necessary when living in Los Angeles.

That's the plan. Now it's just a matter of going out and doing it.

On another note, once again my computer is having problems (of the unmountable boot volume variety) and I am ready to throw my computer off my desk, Lex style. Or Barney style as the case may be. So I may not be around as much until that gets fixed.

[Current Mood |mellow]

So my computer isn't working again. By this point I'm used to it. But it's really frustrating to fix as I can't find my XP disc to repair it. And I'm getting behind on a lot of my shows which is not good at all.

Now concerning college. Well I'n doing pretty well. Getting mostly A's, a 99 on the Logic test and actually studying and reading. But. It's all the last minute for the most part. I feel like I'm regressing back to my high school self of only doing things if they're due the next day which IS better than my college self of not doing things at all. I just need to get back into doing these ahead of time and having enough time to do them well. At least my love of learning and reading (when it comes to academics) is coming back.

Is it sad that I forgot to ask for my birthday off but remembered to ask for the next House episode off from work? Maybe a little but the latter is my TV present so it works for me (plus I managed to get it off anyway). Without my computer, I've been rewatching my House S2 DVD in the background and man, I love that season SO MUCH. It's the best. I forgot how much this show cracks me up and if you put all the hilarious moments together, it'd be almost as funny as The Office. And I love House/Stacy and their doomed relationship. And not to mention it is SO slashy. I cannot believe all the great House/Wilson moments there are. And there are some, like when the lyrics "We might kiss when we are alone" come over right when Wilson looks at House and GAH SO CANON. It amazes me. And I'm dyyyying for next week's episode and am going to buy the new TV Guide just for those pretty pictures (and great interview) of Hugh and RSL. I never buy magazines but I must for this one.

I was in the mood for fanfic last night and read some super hot House/Wilson fic so I must rec all of [livejournal.com profile] recrudescence's fanfic. SO GOOD.

I usually never do these but it's been a horrible crappy day so here it goes, my thread at the love meme.

So of course today I have to deal with stupid computer shit AGAIN and I'm still dealing with it, yesterday I deal with school crap all because I was an idiot AND I find out that SGA was cancelled :( I did not expect that at all and didn't have a show canceled last season so I totally forgot how that feels. I don't want to lose my Rodney and McShep and Team. It's just not fair and seriously what else does SciFi have without them and BSG? Argh. Still behind on all my VVC catchup as I finish catching up on my Flist and I can't seem to not turn doing my con report into this big overwhelming thing no matter how much I've learned that it's a great way for it to not get done. Thank god for VVC and the vids from it being awesome though, con crud or not. I want to vid though and I can't! It sucks but hopefully I will by the time my birthday comes along. Of the good: I FINALLY found a vidsong for an idea I've had for two years. Hell yeah!

Oh and my aunt (grandma's sister) died last Friday so I'm going to be going to Pittsburgh this Friday and Saturday for the funeral. I didn't know her that well but it's still sad *sigh*

Sorry for the depressing entry, hopefully my squee will return soon.

[Current Mood |drained]

OMG you guys! [livejournal.com profile] sisabet just made an Arrested Development vid!!! It's about George Michael and it's incredibly cute and hilariously funny (show, how are you so brilliant?) and I adore it to pieces. Go watch now!

Remember how I said I wasn't going to spoil myself for House? Well I resisted until a few days ago when the promos came out and I just couldn't not look (plus video spoilers aren't as bad as text) And thank god I did because OMG can House and Wilson get any slashier? I swear, I was speechless and then sent into the land of flailing squee. I just...wow. Don't ever change, show! (SO CANON) Spoilers for the promos, I can't not talk about them )

So Flist, how did I not hear that Nathan Fillion is going to star in a new show, The Castle about a horror writer that consults with the NYPD that's probably going to be picked up by ABC midseason? And that there's also a good chance that Rob Thomas's show, Good Behavior about a family of criminals led by a matriarch will be picked up then as well. So awesome! ABC keeps getting good points with me. Also I updated my TV schedule with premiere dates and apparently I'm watching 27 shows this year not counting the 10 or so new shows I'm checking out. Um, I'm crazy? Thank god I like it that way. And I'm so behind but apparently J.K Rowling is going to do a collection of short stories including something with Dumbledore/Grindelwald OMG YAY! I definitely want to learn more about my one remaining HP ship.

So I was thinking about how I'm just not very interested in the sports at the Olympics but then someone mentioned gymnastics and I was like YES THAT. That's what I want to watch! I love gymnastics, used to do it as a kid but got frustrated that I had to do floor and sometimes vault when I really just wanted to do bars and beam all day. I still would like to take it up again someday as I reeally liked doing the uneven bars. Apart from that and a little tennis, I'm mostly just going to be checking out random sports once and awhile. I'm rooting for USA of course but I'm always up for cheering for any countries and players who do a great job and make it fun to watch. And of course, I'll cheer more for teams from people who are on my Flist. So far the countries I've got are Canada, the UK, Australia, Belgium, Germany, France, New Zealand, Sweden, Spain...anyone on my Flist from somewhere else? I'm sure I'm forgetting some because I suck at thinking of things at the top of my head.

I watched a little of the So You Think You Can Dance finale and it was fun. I finally got to see the great Will who was wonderful. Mostly though I lamented the lack of m/m dances. I wondered if there ever was any until conveniently someone on my Flist answered my question with no unless you count the fight dances or whatnot. Cmon, there's gotta be another Prom scene out there someday! I do enjoy shows like American Idol and the dancing shows because I do love singing and dance but there's just not enough of a creative competition element like Project Runway. Plus I hate the America voting aspect because ultimately it usually ends up like political elections where I am left cursing half the population for having the bad sense to choose someone I don't like. Thank god the stakes are much lower. I'd rather just get mad at a few judges who at least are more qualified to judge than me.

Have I mentioned that my last external hard drive stopped working on my laptop? Works on other computers, just not mine. Argh. And it has all my Queer as Folk episodes on it! Not only can I not vid it but now when I'm in the mood for my B/J and pretty gay boy loving, I can't even watch it. Why is life so unfair? And to continue with the tech curse, three pairs of headphones (two cheap, one expensive), stopped working. The first two in a span of two days. It's ridiculous really.

So I went to Ithaca this weekend to visit [livejournal.com profile] lianri and did some shopping and found some great things! I'm excited. Project Runway has also influenced me way too much and I kept finding clothes that reminded me of Christian. I found one shirt that is *perfect* for Vividcon...except I won't be able to wear it til next year. Damn it. I love it LOTS though.

Speaking of Vividcon, only 4 more days! Eeeee. I'm caught up with Psych so now I only have to finish Smallville season 7 in four days. Totally doable, at least for me. I am so glad VVC is this weekend because the one thing that I want to go to second most in all the world, training with Jillian Michaels (and hanging out!) with a bunch of people from her site is that very same weekend. On the one hand, it sucks that it's at the same time but since there's no way I could afford it anyway, at least I won't spend a weekend at home being jealous. I'll be at Vividcon having an amazing time! In the end, VVC rules all.

One more day until Mad Men! Yes, I have been counting down days every single day this week. I am so easy sometimes.

I have no idea if I'll finish in time but I really want to try and see what I can do.

For some encouragement, the Pep Talk Meme: My Thread, where basically. "You can put your username here or you can out someone else's username here and people drop little peptalks about your work in comments". It's a good week for it.

Also, there is going to be a new alternative to Livejournal in the future, Dreamwidth Studios that is for "people who make things" and fandom friendly. I look forward to its development!

[Current Music |"Superstar" by Tegan and Sara]

I am so fucking frustrated right now. So I bought an external DVD drive today (I/O magic external dvd drive, dont buy it!), one that was supposed to be able to "Watch all your favorite DVDs from your computer". Guess what? Doesn't work! It's all connected, I can see the DVD in My Computer (which sometimes doesn't respond now) and yet I can't get it to play on VLC or work in DVD Decryptor. I am so sick of buying tech crap that doesn't work and worst of all, having no idea why.

This is kind of crap that makes me want to give up vidding because I really cannot take these problems over and over and over again where I waste so much precious money on it and get barely anything in return. All I wanted today was to start burning these dvds and start clipping and now...nothing. FUCK. Just right now I have over $200 dollars of tech stuff that doesn't work. If I was rich enough I'd be throwing all this stuff across the room right now like Lex because I have just HAD it. Life was going good and then this stuff comes up. It just never ends.

To add to that, my sunburn really hurts. God, I'm so stupid.

Lots of Little Things Part 1 [Jun. 11th, 2008|10:35 pm]

[Current Music |"Not With You" by Tegan and Sara]
[Current Mood |chipper]

Okay lots of little things to talk about so I'm going to divide this up into two posts.

First a really important announcement if you haven't read it yet:

[livejournal.com profile] counteragent's little sister-in-law, Jenny, is very sick. It would be so wonderful if you could take a quick moment (just like 3 minutes) to check out her family's blog (http://jenjensfamily.blogspot.com/) and see if you think you might know anyone like Jenny. They are looking for "comparables" (people who have similar symptoms) that may have had success with treatments Jenny's docs haven't yet tried.

They would also really appreciate it if you post about this on your blog and thus help them spread the word.

Check out [livejournal.com profile] counteragent's vid that she made on her journal as well.

Book rec: Everyone should read and if you can, buy [livejournal.com profile] claudiagrays new book, Evernight for it is awesome! If you like vampires, definitely check it out but there is also great characters, romance, wonderful twists and great writing. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to read the sequels! I read it in one night as is my favorite way to read (and watch) things so that was fun.

A request: If you make icons, PLEASE label all your icons with your username/icon community. It makes it so much easier when saving icons to use for LJ later. In order to credit, I do type the names of icons but its annoying and I wish every iconmaker would make it easier for people to credit them. Also if you make fanmixes or provide music to download, PLEASE make zip files for people to download. I am lazy and don't have the time to click on every sendspace link or whatever so I usually skip it if it's in that format. It doesn't take long to zip a bunch of files and if someone doesn't want a file, they can just delete it. If you have a personal website, it doesn't apply as much. Which I really am going to get my website back soon, I hope.

On the computer front...more and more crappy tech issues keep coming up. Both of my hard drives stopped working after a year and a half and there is no hope of recovering them *sigh* So I lost 800 GB of space and 90% of my music collection, lots of DVD footage and all my episodes. Most can be redownloaded/reripped but it still sucks. I have sworn I won't buy another external hard drive until I can afford a 2 TB one because multiple hard drives are annoying but I at least have one left to rip dvds and download stuff too. My keyboard got fixed...but now it's not working again ARGH. The tech guy bought me a new DVD drive since that didn't work (I paid for it) but then couldn't install it and in the process has messed up my sound so now sometimes its all staticy and weird. Why universe, WHY?

Plus now I have to buy a new external dvd drive and can't start vidding the Premiere vid until Friday. So I now have two weeks to get that all done...going to be a race against time. We'll see if that gets done. Thank god for shortness and knowing what I want in terms of clips. It's not a big deal if I don't finish it like last year, I just REALLY want to have a vid at Premieres. Plus I think it'll challenge me and push me past my usual style so I hope I can finish it.

If you ever wanted to see a list of Stargate Atlantis vids to download, here's a good one. So many amazing ones for this fandom. Another Sunday is a MUST for anyone, I don't care if you've never seen the show before. One word: sparkles.

VID REC: Sexy Back by [livejournal.com profile] dayln03. This is a Brian vid from Queer as Folk to a song that's been used a lot but it is sooo beautifully edited and proves once and for all that Brian is the sexiest guy alive so it totally works. I love this vid so, so much.

I apologize in advance for the spam but it's not like I post all that much anyways.

First, Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] lianri! I hope you have an amazing day and a great year :)

In more bad news, our internet has gone out meaning I can't use my iPod to access the internet. Now it's just getting laughable.

I watched The Wire finale live Sunday night and it was absolutely amazing. I can't talk about it right now but that's the way you do a finale. I'm still in shock that it's actually over. God, I love that show.

Finally got to watch Torchwood!

Spoilers for Torchwood 209: Something Borrowed )

I watched Little Miss Sunshine the other day and fell in love with it even more. It has one of my absolute favorite quotes in it:

Life is one fucking beauty contest after another. School, then college, then work. Fuck that...You do what you love, and fuck the rest.

I have the worst luck because without warning, yesterday my laptop power adapter stopped working. So my laptop is basically dead right now. Argh. I really did not need that. Caught up with my Flist today in the library and just like everytime I leave my internet for too long, it feels like coming home. I love fandom.

I've been catching up on some UK TV which is nice because it's short and I can get a bunch of series done. I've watched Primeval, Skins and Queer as Folk UK and liked them all in various degrees. New Skins tonight, yay! Wanted to catch up with Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles but doesn't look like that's going to happen. I've been stopped because I still needed to watch the first two movies although I did get to see the first movie before my battery ran out. Also working on Farscape slowly but sure and I'm in mid-S2 right now.

Random: Jane Espenson is watching The Wire! This is significant because when I was picketing with her, I told her she should watch it and how amazing it was. So that was cool.

Still in love with Alias especially the SpyFam. I got the first season DVDs from the library so I'll probably watch that today along with the commentaries. Jack and Sydney still make me squee about as much as I did on first viewing so that's wonderful to relive.
