[Current Mood |rushed]

So tomorrow I'm leaving to drive back to NY. Once again, if you live close by the route I'm driving and would like to hang out or whatever along the way, let me know. So far the plan is to drive along the 15 and then 40 E out of California and into Arizona making a stop for the Grand Canyon (where I will be reading Strata because I'm a fangirl like that) and then continue through New Mexico/Texas that night. Saturday and Sunday I will continue on 40 E through Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas (might stop at Conway for a moment since it's along the way). Monday or the night before I'll be going through Tennesee, getting on 81 N and going through West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and then into New York Monday or Tuesday. Should hopefully be less rushed than the last time so that will be nice. Trying to go the less snowy, warmer route. Looking forward to seeing some states I haven't seen.

Some bad news: my iPod Touch broke. The screen was finally so cracked that it messed something up. Instead of paying $150 to get it replaced, I bought a cheap Nano off of Craigslist and am going to save up to buy the 64 GB iPod Touch when I have the money (space! voice control!). Missing my Touch a lot, so many things wrong with the Nano that I am not pleased with but it is soooo nice to be able to listen to music again. Music really is my friend, without it I got lonely.

So busy trying to get stuff done and packed. Will try to stop on Sunday to get my Festivid post unlocked, hopefully that will work out. I will say the one thing I will not miss here is the spectacularly horrible internet that is randomly slow at times. Arghhhh. Nothing pisses me off more.

Anyways been vidding/clipping more than usual and it is awesome. Looking forward to getting some good stuff done this year.

Oh my god, the Festivids are out and they're amaaaazing. You can find over 70 fandom vids here from a ton of different fandoms. I am stunned at how good they all are and am working my way through them with feedback. Go check them out!

My vid is here and it is a West Wing vid of LOOOOOVE! Team Bartlet!! It is extremely happymaking and heartwarming and I love it dearly. My other favorite is an amazing Sound of Music vid which is a movie that's very dear to my childhood so I love it a lot. And it made me cry. Yay Festivids!

More Joy Day was great for me! I was feeling happy all morning with all the More Joy posts, then I got to play tennis singles for the first time and though I only tied, I held my serve which made me happy and then Festivid chatting was SO much fun while waiting for the vids. It's amazing how much a day devoted to joy can make your entire vid so positive. If only every day was More Joy Day! Which I suppose is the point, but still.

Thanks for the Glee vidlet prompts everyone who left them! I should hopefully have those done within a week.

I went to see Sherlock Holmes the other day and loved it! Oh god, the slash was OFF THE CHARTS! Worth it just for that although the story was good too. Holmes/Watson were just so married and jealous and in love with plenty of slashy innuendo and symbols. I had fun.

What happened in Haiti was horrible but thankfully fandom is quite generous. [community profile] help_haiti is a new community that is an auction of goods and services, largely fanworks for donating money to Haiti. There are a TON of amazing people there to bid on including all the vidders here. I am hoping I will win at least one person to make one of my many (8 right now) House vid ideas.

This weekend I'm going up to San Francisco!! I'm going to the Festivid party as described here this Monday. If you're close by, you should come! I can't wait to go and see all the vids and Castro Street and other Bay Area type things. Very exciting.

Oh and my best friend when I was little shared with me with pic from when I was 9ish and it's here, under the cut:

Happy More Joy Day! Or as I like to call it, More Glee Day. And so here is my More Glee Day offer: leave a prompt (including song) for a Glee vidlet and I'll make you a 15-30 (or more?) second vidlet. Any character, pairing, ensemble, episode, you name it. And for two other people, leave a character or pairing (from Glee) and I'll make you a picspam of them with quotes.

[Current Music |VVC 2009 vids]

I am ALL DONE with my Festivid!!! It is completely submitted, confirmed and over with omgyay. God that was scary. Why oh why do I procrastinate on these things??? I spent too long trying to go the ambitious route but gave up yesterday and finished everything today. The story of this vid is me thinking it'll go smoothly and it does for awhile and then I get hung up on something and it takes much longer than expected. I gave myself a couple hours for encoding and uploading and thank god I did because it was a DISASTER. First I had to fix the frame size in the project, then it was encoding wrong and then I could not encode the freaking audio. I thought I was going to die but luckily I switched projects and managed to get it out and just attached it to the video. And I forgot how to convert frame size in the process and was struggling with software and it was all just a big mess. My heart was beating so fast and there was so much ohfuckomgomgomg going on. But it is DONE so I am forgetting it and relaxing it.

Definitely not the best vidding process. I was having so much hate for this vid and being forced to get it done all day yesterday and for the last few days and the stress was killing me. And I stayed in all weekend and gave up a lot of exercise day trips I wanted to do and that was frustrating. Not to mention, I didn't go to Hotel Cafe last night where Adam, Cassidy, Brad, Alisan, Ferras and a couple other people were and it really bummed me out. In all fairness, I didn't think Adam would show up but stillll. It sucks. Oh well I guess. What I do for vidding. It is weird to think that somewhere out there (hopefully) there is a vid made for me!! I can't wait to see it along with all the other vids. They're all going to be released January 14th ie More Joy Day so feel free to spread the joy in any way you can!

In better news, I found this quote that Jillian Michaels said in a recent interview and it made me really, really happy as it is more than I ever hoped she'd say: "Let's just say I believe in healthy love. If I fall in love with a woman, that's awesome. If I fall in love with a man, that's awesome. As long as you fall in love...it's like organic food. I only eat healthy food, and I only want healthy love!". Yes, this exactly! And so much love for open to bisexuality <3

[Current Location |California!]

I'm back in California! It is a glorious, glorious thing. I am all smiley and happy to be in sunshine filled, 70s weather which is my FAVORITE. After being in the cold for two weeks and knowing I am leaving in less than a month, I am extremely grateful. It definitely has started off my year on a positive note.

My travel experience was pretty good other than my plane being delayed for 30 minutes (which seems like nothing) and having to wait an hour for a bus (I missed one, tiny sign but one didn't show up). Not bad in the grand scheme of things. Very, very nice to have my Macbook Pro, watched a lot of Glee although the battery charge was less than advertised. Will need to look into that.

I am taking two courses this month, Weight Training and Tennis which is part of my plan to get in shape by means of being forced to do so. The first because I have terrible motivation in that arena (but I do like feeling strong) and the second because I need tennis partners to play with. I love love love tennis and playing (in great weather in January!) makes me remember how much happiness it brings. I just feel so alive and it makes me smile all the time and I feel like I'm playing really good right now so it's exciting. I'm actually disappointed that the teacher keeps letting us out early because I want to play more! Also frustrating is we haven't played any games yet and that's my favorite thing but my teacher promised we would either tomorrow or next week. It's so fun and I'm looking forward to playing against two of the best players there. I am also trying to run on the side and be careful with food so hopefully I will lose some weight.

It is good to have some money again since I finally have cashed both my paychecks :) Of course now I face questioning whether or not each thing I want to buy is worth it. What was DEFINITELY worth it is my new wireless headphones!! I had to buy a bluetooth iPod adapter too but oh god no wires is HEAVEN. I don't have to be tied down to my iPod! I can even control songs from my headphones. I am hoping these headphones won't break down in 1-6 months as most of the headphones I get do but even if they do, I got a cheap 2 year warranty so I should be all set :) Frys Electronics = awesome store.

Of course exercising or else the lack of travel sleep/jetlag keeps making me really tired and interfering with my Festividding plans. After going to sleep early last night (after taking a nap earlier) and getting 8.5 hours of sleep, today I took a 2 hour nap after work and almost missed dinner. I am getting increasingly worried about my lack of progress with this vid. I am in the bad stage now where the deadline is not encouraging me to vid and instead making me feel resentful and I'm kind of hating the vid even though when I watch it, I do like it. I don't know it's frustrating. I'm not worried about the deadline because I have Friday-Sunday free and I can bang it out then if I can't find the time in the next two days but I reeeally wanted to get it done sooner so I wouldn't get freaked out about missing the deadline and/or not allow the vid to be as good as I want it to be. Hopefully I'll be able to get it done soon.

I find it so weird how in the midst of ship love (cause honestly that's what it is), I can read so much fic and when I don't have one, I have almost zero desire to read any fic no matter how much I love a ship or author. Oh well, I guess, I'm sure the urge will hit me at some point.

I am just glad that right now I am feeling optimistic, getting things done for the most part and generally am in a positive mood. I had forgotten how much exercise helps with that. As well as being in the best place on earth of course :D

[Current Music |Kate Earl]

Happy First Day of 2010 everyone!

I am feeling so good about this year. I know I usually always say that but this one feels like a great setup. I am getting work done on my Festivids vid! The process is pretty easy which is fantastic. It is so nice having vidding be so easy with big thanks to great tech. And of course today I find the *perfect* vid idea for The Office. It sucks that this was the season where I fell out of love with the show although this song is so perfect I might have to do it. It reminds me why I fell in love with the show. I'm really hoping I'll get a lot of Glee vidding done this year because I feel it's my second chance to truly vid a show I'm in love with right when I'm in love with it. I'm still bummed I didn't vid The Office as much as I wanted back in the day not to mention other fandoms that have come and gone. But I am feeling very vid inspired and productive so hopefully that will change this year. I want to do the end of the year vid meme next year!

Really missing California and can't wait to go back. Warm weather and palm trees and sunshine will be sooo nice. I even miss the freeways although not so much the slowness of them. It is just weird not having five way lanes here, it feels deserted. I leave Monday morning and am hoping my return flight experience will be a better one. It will help having a laptop that doesn't need power adapter all the time and having less stuff to bring (no more big speakers and external DVD player!). I am planning on putting in some vidding and TV time :)

Still have to watch the last two Doctor Who episodes which considering I've seen the preview, says a lot about how much I care about the show. Was extremely bored by Water of Mars, wish I had only seen the last 10 minutes or so. Oh well. Have started watching Twin Peaks and like it a lot. I know Dale Cooper from Sex in the City and Desperate Housewives so that's a bit distracting but he's soooo pretty when he's young. Also he's the llama guy from I think the 2005 Premiere intro vid. I love the mystery and am looking forward to seeing what happens. The music is some of the eeriest music I've ever heard.

It is sooo nice working on a vid on a deadline but not feeling rushed or stressed. If only every deadline situation could be like that.

I cannot believe the 2000s are ending and it's going to be 2010, the start of the new decade. Wow. Here are some memes to sum it all up.

End of the Year Fandom Meme )

Fannish Year Meme )

End of the Year Meme )

Also I finished True Blood S2. Spoilers for True Blood S2 )

I have finally figured out that part of the reason I love Eric so much is that he reminds me of Brian Kinney. Not just the clothes but he has the same kind of looks where you can see the vulnerability underneath them as well as a similar sexy aura.

Anyways, basically I am okay with this year. The highs were balanced by the lows so it all turned out pretty okay. I need to change it up though so I'm hoping I'll follow through on my goals this year. The year has gotten me to the place I need to be in for next year and I didn't mess up anything so much that I can't come back so all in all it's been good. I am making good progress on my Festivids vid on my new computer which is sooo wonderful and perfect. My vid output of one vid this year was disappointing but I'm giving myself a break because of tech trouble. 2010 does not have this excuse and I have five vids in planning that I really want to get done. It's wonderful having a fast computer where Premiere takes 5 seconds to load and it's easy to clip and vid. Onto the future!

Happy New Year everyone :)

Of the bad: Travel+snow, Of the good: KITTIES [Dec. 23rd, 2009|12:38 am]

[Current Music |vidsong!!]

So I'm back in NY after a long journey on Saturday/Sunday. It was one of my worst travel experiences ever and that's saying something considering my travel curse. A list of things that went wrong:

-My flight passing through DC got canceled. Because of evil snow.
-Waited 2 hours in line to rebook flight
-Pre-security baggage size check lady loses/gives my tickets to someone else and blames me
-Can't print out my tickets on the ticket machine nor talking it through on the phone, have to wait for a customer service person
-Wait for a flight that was delayed 4 hours
-Said flight stops in Denver for a medical emergency, which takes an hour complete with screaming kid (SO MUCH HATE)
-Miss my connection because of hour lateness
-Have headache throughout flight and rest of Sunday
-Bad airport design means I lug my heavy carry ons across the airport (no shuttles of course) and wait 4 hours for next flight
-Find out the gate has changed, flight is delayed by a half hour and have to walk halfway back
-Three planes try to get out of the gate at almost the same time. Mine is last (of course) and is another hour and a half late because of snow
-Lose my cell phone on the flight that finally happens
-Feel nauseous and sick during/after the flight. Sleep deprived like WOAH. Come home to freeze.

I did somehow make it home in one piece so there is that. Ughhh it was just one bad thing after another, I could barely take it at the end there. I have never hated snow more. The good news is when I got home I met the new kitties, Molly and Lana and they are sooooooooo cute. Molly is an adorable 7 month kitten who is sooo pretty and very very cuddly (on my lap now) and is so cute and curious. And Lana is a shelter cat my mom rescued and she's adorable if a bit skittish. KITTIES!!! Omg I missed having cats around so much I can't even say.

The other good thing about the trip was I had a chance to watch some Will & Grace episodes and oh there was so much boylove towards the end of the season :D TAYE DIGGS. This show wins forever at guest stars. It made me happy during the long wait. I finished the show when I got home and I still can't believe I finished it. I kind of fell massively in love with the show although I doubt I'll ever be very fannish about it. I just love the four main characters so much. Oh and EVERYONE who loves The Sound of Music MUST watch 810 Von Trapped. It is HILARIOUS and so brilliant and so full of love. I was dying. I counted 9/10 (lost track at one point) m/m kisses which is not as much as I wish but okay, I'll take it. Mostly I was just amazed at how consistently funny it was for eight freaking seasons. I did have a few issues, behind the cut:

Spoilers for S8 of Will & Grace )

The best news right now is I'm getting a Macbook Pro!! My mom got one for me since my current computer is crap and I need one for future work and such. Plus now I don't have to get rid of Adobe CS4 since I can't vid with Premiere CS4 on this computer. I am soooo excited! I'm not a super Mac person or anything so I'll be bootcamping it a lot of the time (need my avisynth for one) but still, I will not be denied uses of programs! And it has 8 GB OF RAM!!! Ohhhh hell yeah :D Hopefully vidding will be fast now. I have no more excuses after this to not do it. It should be here in about a week or so which is worrisome with festivids deadline approaching but I'm going to get a rough first draft with WMM done before it comes so I'm not so pressed for time. On the Festivids note, I FINALLY found my song!!! I am sooo excited and relieved. I love it so much. It is both exactly what I want in terms of lyrics and yet adds new stuff for me to play with. I have ideas :) I may have to tone down some of my more ambitious ideas though. The bad thing is I left all my clip notes back in LA but it shouldn't be too hard to do them again.

And now what you really want to see:

Glee and Sadness [Dec. 2nd, 2009|09:51 pm]

[Current Mood |indescribable]
[Current Music |Glee music from 112!]

It's been a day full of ups and downs today. First the ups:

Spoilers for Glee 112 )

In other great Glee news, both Adam Lambert AND Idina Menzel would love to be on Glee!! So hopefully Ryan will be able to get them both on this season or next at the latest. Next week I will be savoring this last pre-hiatus episode sooo much it's not even funny.

On the not so great side, motivation for college is fading very very quickly. It is getting very difficult to fight my screw it, I don't care side. There have been small victories though and hopefully I'll be able to get some stuff done this weekend. Going to LA this Friday to shoot some photos for my final project, do a gallery report AND hang out with some fans so hopefully that'll go well. Another bad thing is my bike got two flat tires AGAIN after getting them replaced a month ago and I don't have the money to get them replaced. The good news though is that I got a job as an assistant here! Also made some money in an economic experiment here so that helps a lot and lets me buy a hard copy of Adam's CD and not just my free Amazon digital one :)

In sad Adam news, ABC canceled his free concert with Jimmy Kimmel. I am so sad and angry as I had a ticket to go to it. Ugh it pisses me off so much. I am so sick of this kind of crap. Add that to finding out the NY Senate voted down the Gay Marriage bill, I'm disgusted and disappointed by the discrimination in this country. I know we'll win the war in the end but goddamn it losing all the time is depressing. On the good side, Dave Valesky whose my representative who previously was on the fence voted yes! Good to know that maybe my communication with him might have had a tiny impact. So I will have to support him in his next campaign as he's up for re-election and they're sure to use it against him.

[personal profile] sdwolfpup being the awesome person she is started a Vidding Love Meme and my thread is here. It is so great to see all the vidder and vid love going on over there! I am already feeling more motivated to work on my [community profile] festivids vid this weekend :)

On a Fanfic Love note, I just want to thank ALL the writers out there who write fanfic for all of us in fandom. After reading amazing fanfic over at [profile] queenbitchfest, it reaffirmed my thankfulness of writers who create so many stories for everyone to enjoy. It reminds me that true romance exists in the world, that there are endless possibilities and so many different imaginary worlds to explore. I am in awe at the talent of the writers we have. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing me and others so much joy, or dare I say it, glee.

[Current Mood |my heart is very full right no]

I am failing on writing about my love for this show each week because of how breathless and wordless it leaves me each week. How one show can be filled with so much joy and love is beyond me. Here is me trying to write something short to actually comment on it.

Short Reaction to Glee 110 )

The thing about Glee is it just makes me forget all the crappiness in my life and remind me of the good and the happy and that is why I love this show. I honestly think it was made for me and I'd give up all my other TV now for it. Mmm Glee.

Okay the worst part about Festivids is definitely going to be finding music. I just want to come up with something perfect but it is very hard to find exactly what you need to express. Hopefully it won't take too long.

[Current Music |"Sure Fire Winners" by Adam Lambert]

Dear Festividder,

OMG THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME A VID! You have no idea how long I've wanted a rare fandom vid created all for me for a Yuletide like vid challenge. So [community profile] festivids is heaven and ANYTHING, anything you make for any of these fandoms will be appreciated times infinity. I chose these fandoms because any vid to them would make me ridiculously happy as I love all of these shows (Little Miss Sunshine should be a show!), the whole thing not just a small part. So vid whatever you like. Same goes for music. For me, this is about the FANDOM much more than the music and even if I detested the music (which would be hard to do), I honestly would not care because it'd still be a vid in one of my fandoms made for me. So do NOT worry about that or how good your vid is or anything like that because there is no pressure whatsoever. Don't be scurred, I'm easy, really. No matter how much I capslock in these details, be assured that that is just me being very excited about seeing an idea of a vid in my head and even if you don't choose to make that, I will be MUCH more capslocky about the vid you actually make because it will be REAL and mine and oh god I am ridiculously excited about this.

I love all kinds of vidding styles as I'm a huge fan of vidding itself and that is why I love it so much. I love character studies, shipper vids, friendship/enemy/relationship vids, slow vids, funny vids, ensemble vids, crack vids, dance vids, LKBVs, meta vids, sappy vids, effects filled vids, effectsless vids, super fast vids, sexy vids, motion filled vids, political statement vids, vids with lots of colors, vids that makes me cry, avant garde vids, recruiter vids (ALL these fandoms need them!), old style slash vids, action vids, shiny vids and most of all vids that the vidder clearly puts ALL their love into it. I do especially love vids that provoke an emotional reaction but for me aesthetically beautiful vids and deep thinky vids are enough TO make me feel emotional. Another thing I like is character vids that explore a character through a relationship but if that doesn't apply, no worries. I love slash, het, gen, femslash, three/moresomes, and I'm totally cool with any kind of violence/sex (I think my fandoms make this clear). Use of outside source is great if it applies to your idea, go for it!

I love SO many kinds of music. Even in genres I don't mention, I probably like some songs in them and I enjoy hearing new kinds of music so don't worry about that. I know I wrote down some genre and artist suggestions in my requests and feel free to ignore any of that. Here though is a longer list of music genres I am open to and artists that I've loved songs to in case you want any more guidance. However, I LOVE finding new music and learning about artists I've never heard before so feel free to use something in your own library or Pandora one of these artists or use something that's played on the show.

Genres: Pop, hip-hop, rock, rap, indie pop/rock, alternative, musicals, techno, instrumentals, classical, a capella, folk, blues, J-pop, jazz, big band, punk, pop-country, R&B, experimental/avant garde and lots more.

Artists: Adam Lambert, Adele, The Afghan Whigs, Aimee Mann, Air France, Amy Winehouse, Ani DiFranco, Artic Monkeys, Basement Jaxx, The Beatles, Belle and Sebastian, Bitter:Sweet, Britney Spears, Brokeback Mountain Soundtrack, Coconut Records, The Coral, The Cure, Damnien Rice, David Bowie, The Ditty Bops, Eels, Eminem, The Feeling, Flobots, Garden State Soundtrack, Glee Cast, Hawksley Workman, Ingrid Michaelson, Jason Mraz, Jay-Z, Kanye West, The Kills, Kris Allen, Lady GaGa, Massive Attack, Michael Buble, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Missy Higgins, Mos Def, Muse, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, OK Go, Owl City, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Regina Spektor, The Roots, Ryan Adams, The Shins, Sigur Ros, Talib Kweli, Tegan and Sara, Telepopmusik, Zero 7

Fandom Details Under the Cut )

Feel free to ignore all of this. Thank you again for making this and I hope you have a fun time vid creating :) You're the best!

Love,

[Current Music |"Written All Over My Face" by Kris Allen]

So for the past few years I've been really jealous of everyone participating in Yuletide and so bummed out that I don't write and so can't taken part in it. And I've always thought there should be a vid challenge in a similar way. AND NOW THERE IS! [profile] yulevid is the new community that's the vid version of Yuletide where vidders can request and offer to vid rarely vidded fandoms. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS! I am definitely participating even if it kills me to complete a vid for it. The nice part is everyone will be required to request a movie so there is always a shorter source for someone to vid if they run out of time. The dates are a bit later than Yuletide this year since it's a late start. I encourage everyone to go check out the community which is brainstorming right now and the nomination period for fandoms will start out (probably) next week. And now I don't have to feel sad when I see Yuletide posts because I'm doing it too!

So now I can finally put up my possible nominations like all the writers, yay!

Arrested Development, Better Off Ted, Cupid (1998), Friday Night Lights, How I Met Your Mother, Latter Days, Little Miss Sunshine, Mad Men, Milk, Modern Family, Oz, Rent, Sex and the City, Shelter, Six Feet Under, Slings and Arrows, The Big Bang Theory, The Sopranos, The West Wing, The Wire, United States of Tara

Soooo many shows/movies I'd looove to see more vids to here. I so cannot wait!

Spoilers for The Office: Koi Pond )

Oh and my phone FINALLY has an Office ringtone! I've wanted my phone to have one and my past phones have never been able to. It makes me happy whenever I hear it :)

Spoilers for 30 Rock: Stone Mountain )

Enjoyed Parks and Recreation which hasn't been that funny for me sadly. But I loooove Leslie and now I adore her cute cop date so I'm sticking with it for now.

On another note, I am SO SO SO EXCITED for Adam's single tomorrow! "For Your Entertainment" is premiering on Ryan Seacrest's show tomorrow starting at 6:55 am PST so I'll have to wake up early for that. I've just been dyyyying to hear it and see how Adam manages to combine electro dance glam pop classic rock and whatever else he's throwing in there with his AMAZING voice of perfection. To finally hear an Adam Lambert song on the radio will be so crazy. After waiting all this time, with so much teasing, it's finally here! I can't even believe it.

And Tuesday I went to the This is It premiere in LA and saw him!! It was so amazing. I hung out behind the red carpet with [profile] dee919 and then all of a sudden I spotted Adam on the big screen and freaked out. They tried to keep us away from the front of the racks but I managed to capture some video footage of Adam doing interviews and at one point we (and some other Adam fans there) shouted at him and he turned and looked at us and ME! Holding my Details magazine hehe. He waved!! It was just so wonderful. Also he did a little dance at one point and was later bobbing his legs along with the music. Too cute! Oh and I saw Chris Colfer, Kurt from Glee too! He was walking towards the theatre and I stopped him and told him I loved him in Glee. The movie was about to start so I didn't ask for video or anything. And then later after the movie which just made me think of Adam getting thoughts on how epic his own tour is going to be, we went downstairs and a few minutes later, Adam was RIGHT NEXT TO US. [profile] dee919 tried to ask for a picture but he was in a rush to get to his car so he said he couldn't. Still we followed him out and it was so surreal to be two feet or so from ADAM FUCKING LAMBERT. I have my video footage up on Youtube here along with my footage from when I went to the Good Morning America concert to see Adam, Kris and David Cook.

Thankfully Kris Allen hasn't been nearly as closeted (ha) with his music and I'm loving the music on his CD! There's short snippets of all his songs which you can hear all together in an mp3 file here and I've had it on repeat a lot in the past couple days. So catchy! I love Written All Over My Face and Can't Stay Away (which he played in Florida, the whole songs are great) the most but the rest of the album sounds super tinhatty to me especially Bring It Back. I'm super excited about his album, it's going to be awesome. November is a very, very good month.

[profile] daybreak777 is holding a Itty-Bitty Viddy Ficcy Thon (with Icons too!) this weekend where people leave prompts for short ficlets/vidlets or whatever (any fandom!) and people create them this Labor Day weekend. Prompts close at 12 EST tonight so go leave some! I may be making a few vidlets if all goes well.

Had a bad morning yesterday but college is going pretty good so far! I am actually really enjoying doing homework for my classes (although that may be the beginning of the semester starting). Had two interviews today and those went pretty well although there's a lot of competition so who knows.

The exciting news is my mom might buy me a MacBook!!!!! I've been dyyyying to get one to have a new computer with mutable sound, a battery that works, a keyboard that works and the option to use Mac or Windows so I'm super excited about it. Even if she just wants to do it to get the free ipod Touch/printer ;) It's crazy to be getting so much of what I want all at once. I love it and after what I've been through, I say it's about time.

Giant List of Vid Recs From Vividcon [Aug. 24th, 2009|11:43 pm]

[Current Music |Say Hey (I Love You) by Michael Franti and Spearhead]
[Current Mood |tired]

So here is my Giant list of Vid Recs from Vividcon. I encourage everyone to check them out even if it's not a fandom you watch, they really are that good. Keep in mind this list is just my personal favorites that fit my preferences including source, song and vidding likes so it may not fit yours and it certainly isn't a list of all the great vids at Vividcon. First, my personal favorites:

American Tune by [personal profile] trelkez, The West Wing, Ensemble (major spoilers for S1-7): FAVORITE VID OF THE CON! This vid was such a surprise to me as I was NOT expecting any TWW vids and then I saw this perfect love song to my show and my people and it made my very soul the happiest person on earth. It lovingly let's the emotions of the characters shine and takes you on an intense roller coaster ride of emotions, letting you pause to experience each one no matter whether it's pain or Team love or patriotic joy. It kills me to watch this but I go back again and again because I love these people and I LOVE THIS VID SO MUCH OMG!

Beautiful Dirty Rich by [personal profile] astolat and [personal profile] merryish, American Idol, Adam Lambert: OMG I LOVE THIS VID SOOO MUCH! Perfect fandom timing as I get into my beloved Adam and this vid captures so much of what I love of him, the sexiness, the edge, the cuteness (smiles!), the hearts and sparkles, the smoking hot photoshoots, the fun and of course, the Adam/Kris love. In short, it makes me very, very happy and has been on repeat approximately 200 times.

Say Hey (I Love You) by [personal profile] sdwolfpup, The Obamas: This is THE love song (in vid form) to Barack and Michelle for giving us hope again and making us fall in love with what could be, what we can do and now what is. I love how it blends still and video footage and shows off how they are both such dorks and a beautiful romantic love story. I LOVE YOU OBAMA. Even when it's only the idea.

Can Delight by [personal profile] jescaflowne, Multifandom: This is the MINDBLOWING EFFECTS VID OF AWESOME! I am still in amazement and can't take my eyes off all the flying cheerleaders and pretty and effects. There is Buffy and Faith and Claire and it is filled with joy. Wow, just wow.

Break Teen Spirit in Four Minutes by [personal profile] bananainpyjamas, Wanted: I LOVE THIS VID! So much energy, beaaaaautiful motion and such dynamic use of the motion. I love this mashup, so, so much (especially the Teen Spirit parts) and there are so many shots in this vid that make me gasp with their perfection. Another vid that's been on repeat a lot.

Bromance? by [personal profile] wickedwords and [personal profile] sherrold, Multifandom: OMGSQUEE!! This vid makes me super happy and not just because it has a wonderful section devoted to House/Wilson that makes my heart burst into singing love songs. It's cute and charming, the song is perfect and the end is endlessly satisfying. In conclusion, love (and the answer is romance!).

Thriller by [personal profile] buffyann, Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Supernatural: Perfect song + Perfect source + Perfect editing = Perfect vid. I love the OMWF footage in this SO much and all of the clips fit the creepiness of the song exactly and seamlessly flow into each other. Wow.

Metaphor by [personal profile] cesperanza and [personal profile] flummery, Multifandom: So much fun! The song seems written for fans especially with the hilarious use of phallic (and other) imagery. And the little bits of House made me super happy to see cause I'm a crazy fan like that.

Mad About You by [profile] gwyn_r, Mad Men, Betty, Joan, Peggy (some Betty/Don, Joan/Roger and Peggy/Pete): MAD MEN VID!! That alone is worth a rec but this is a beautiful vid (and song) showcasing the women of Mad Men and their relationships with the men of Mad Men with a wonderful framing device and heartbreaking execution.

Hard Sun by [personal profile] bradcpu and [personal profile] laurashapiro, Firefly, Ensemble: This is a love letter to Firefly and to how we go through our lives as fans and it makes me so happy to see that I'm not the only one, just like fandom does. Beautiful use of outside footage and cues to signal events outside the source.

Vid Recs for Slings & Arrows, Terminator: TSCC, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Multifandom, Dexter, Burn Notice, Better Than Chocolate, Harry Potter, Supernatural, Heroes, Dollhouse, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Life, Fantasia, Vidding, Leverage, Wonderfalls, Californication and Merlin )

Sorry for so much reccing but there was SO many great vids at VVC and I didn't want to miss any and that's not even taking into account some AWESOME ones I left out. Vividcon = Vid Christmas.

Do any other vidders wish they had a vid idea on/off switch so that you could turn it off when you wanted to NOT get any vid ideas and any ones you would have thought of would stay unconscious til you turned the switch on again? Cause I really need one of those right now after getting attacked by another vid idea I don't have time to vid right now. There could even be a filter for fandom if say you only wanted vid ideas for a certain fandom or NOT in a certain fandom as the case may be. If only...

It's been a year so this con report is about as much as I can remember from last year. Damn procrastination perfectionism!

Vividcon 2008, the Quick and Dirty Version (not that kind of dirty though) )

This is what my perfectionist self wants! No need to type up long posts if you don't remember anything. I defeated perfectionist self this year though thankfully. Vivdcon 2008 was definitely lots of fun.

New Vid! Queer as Folk - Ensemble: Just Dance [Aug. 15th, 2009|01:18 am]

[Current Music |music from roommate's laptop]

So this is my vid that premiered at Club Vivid 2009. I wanted to do a Queer as Folk dancing ensemble vid for two years now to actually utilize all the great dancing clips (that aren't Brian/Justin) for Club Vivid. Last year I finally found the right song for it and so I managed to get it finished although I cut out some parts. I'm working on an extended version though of the whole thing that should be done soon. I hoped it'd be the perfect vid for Club Vivid as it's full of dancing, drinking, motion and lots of gayness. It was a bitch to clip but so worth it in the end.

Title: Just Dance
Music: Lady Gaga
Source: Queer As Folk US S1-5
Focus: Babylon ensemble
Summary: "So the "thumpa thumpa" continues. It always will. No matter what happens. No matter who's president. As our lady of Disco, the divine Miss Gloria Gaynor has always sung to us: We will survive."

Many thanks to [personal profile] par_avion for the website space. All feedback (including concrit) is much appreciated. Enjoy!

On another note, Club Vivid was the best I've ever had and I've had some amazing ones. Being drunk is much more fun :)

[Current Music |"Feeling Good" by Adam Lambert]
[Current Mood |excited]

Vividcon tomorrow. I can't believe it. It snuck up on me. I somehow managed to completely forget I had to finish T:TSCC before any vids premiered because I know for a fact that there will be huge spoilers. So I'll be watching all the episodes on my iPod tomorrow while in transit (I'm on 214). I'm still waiting for the awesomeness to hit me over the head but there are some cool things in it.

Ohgodohgodohgod Vividcon is TOMORROW! Of course I did not finish my last minute preparations but instead thought that turning on American Idol to watch in the background was a good idea. This is because I decided to let go and get into Adam Lambert and Adam/Kris fandom even though I knew it'd overwhelm me. I can handle the fanfic but seeing Adam perform? Holy shit! The episode I watch is of course the one where Adam sings Feeling Good, one of my favorite songs in a smoking white suit. And I was gone. It's just the moment right when he says good and the lights shine on him and his face turns into the SEXIEST look I have ever seen. It says "I'm going to fuck you and you're going to LIKE IT" and it's just...*bursts into flames* I squee everytime, I can't even help it. He's totally my kryptonite just like I knew he would be. I am falling quickly into Adam love and the only reason I'm braking is because it's VIVIDCON TOMORROW OMG why is this happening to me now?

Anyways, I'll try to catch up tomorrow I guess. Will arrive tomorrow hopefully at 12 but in any case am going to do touristy things with [personal profile] svmadelyn and others and will be back around 9 or so to hang out and see people. Still haven't decided on a schedule but will most likely be all panels and planning on watching non-attending premieres before dinner if possible. Zen about my Club Vivid vid at least and super excited for all the premieres and seeing new people. Over 100 vid people and over 70 new vids (or close to it)? So much heaven there.

Can't wait to see everyone at Vividcon! Hugs are great and I'd love to talk with anyone there so if anyone ever wants to hang out, just let me know and I'm there :)

ETA: And oh god, I just read the BEST House spoiler and now I'm jumping around in the best mood I've been in a loooong time. House + Adam + Vividcon = Happy Ashley. How the fuck am I supposed to go to sleep???

FEDERER WON WIMBLEDON OMG YAY!!!

I just, wow. 15 Grand Slams. 15 to take over the record from Peter Sampras. Who was THERE! I am in amazement. Of course, Roger nearly gave me a heart attack in the process as I was in complete tennis torture the whole match not knowing if he would win. Soooo scary. But in the end worth it as he won. He is now officially the greatest tennis player ever. Yay Roger!

And it was even sweeter for me as I've hated and despised Andy Roddick since I first saw him play back in 2002 or so. I will say he played better than I've ever saw him but in the end, Federer is better and has much more mental toughness. God, I love him. I'm hoping to meet him, talk one on one and get a picture with him next year in Palm Springs. That would just be amazing. It was so epic to see Sampras and Federer see each other and talk after the game, a great passing on the torch moment. And yes, I was getting some slashy vibes from them for a bit there. They are definitely the greatest ever in my book.

It was just destiny, Roger winning Wimbledon, his first and favorite slam right after he won the French Open to tie Sampras. It was, wait for it (and boy did I wait for it), legendary.

Working on rebuilding my vid collection right now and wow does the internet go slow when you try to download 50 vids at once. Crazy. I had to make a new vid folder on my external hard drive and I already have 1000 vids, not including the ones on my laptop one.

Also watched all of The Big Bang Theory in the last week. Now I didn't watch it before because I had issues with it mainly I'm so sick of male fantasy crap and I didn't want to watch a show with two geeks ogling their hot, female neighbor. Not to mention some of it is kind of offensive in a haha geeky stuff is so funny kind of way. But it wasn't as bad as I thought thankfully. And I fell in love with Sheldon Cooper. I knew I'd like him just like I knew I'd like House and boy was I right. I looooove him and Sheldon is the BEST OMG. He's the perfect antidote as there is NO ogling, full geek pride and super genius awesomeness. He cracks me up and is sooo cute and even though I know it'd never work out I totally want to marry him. I do wonder if Sheldon is asexual which would be cool to see but in any case, he is pure love. My favorite episode is definitely The Maternal Capacitance as Leonard's mother is AMAZING and my favorite character after Sheldon. I may have shipped them just a little, heh. I don't like Leonard as he annoys me with his whining and being ashamed of his geekiness but Raj is cute and Howard is well, Howard. HATE Leonard's crush on Penny which just needs to end already, why can't they all just be friends? Anyways, I would like to see more girl geeks but Leslie's cool (although I wish she and Sheldon got along) and I laugh a lot more than I thought at the show. My favorite is when they make references to shows like BSG and T:TSCC.

It's weird not having a show that I'm addicted to. Trying to get back into The West Wing and enjoying that (Toby love!). And on a positive note, 6 more weeks til Vividcon...

Indecision and TV [Jun. 8th, 2009|11:27 pm]

[Current Mood |blah]
[Current Music |Hawksley Workman]

Blaaaah. I am remembering why I hate living here. It's incredibly boring and there's nothing to do. And usually I'm cool with staying inside and vidding/watching TV/reading, whatever but yesterday I felt restless and just wanted to do something. Went out and tried but everything was empty and boring.

I should be vidding but I'm getting sick of it at the moment and feeling down about getting the vid done. I just feel like it's going to suck anyways so what's the point of even trying? And I want it to look like it does in my head but I have so many doubts about having it come out in this time frame. I don't know if I'm willing to overload my free time to get this done. I'm already sick of House and House/Wilson unbelievably enough although my love always returns the next morning. I am just feeling seriously conflicted onto whether to do this or not. I have other stuff I need to do this summer, for one learning stuff since I have free time and no school to get in the way. I really want to have a vid in Premieres, I just don't know if the sacrifice for it is worth it. Sometimes I don't know if I'm doing it for me or other people but when I try to get rid of everyone but me, I still want to do it. I hate giving up but maybe it's worth it in this case. Or not. I have no idea. How do you decide these things???

God, I love Hard Core Logo. I'm randomly in the mood for it a bunch of times and can watch the whole thing straight through. I love Joe Dick, I love John, I love Billy, I love them all. It's got this magnetic pull, this atmosphere and mood that I love that hooks me in everytime. Not to mention the delicious slash all up in each others faces and the need and longing. I adore them.

Still watching The West Wing, enjoying the second season although it's not making me want to watch it all the time which is probably a good thing. But I still love all of them even though I don't like some of their positions like school uniforms for instance (I'm in the middle of the season). Still love the team the most along with CJ <3

From LA to NY [Jun. 3rd, 2009|08:12 pm]

[Current Mood |content]
[Current Music |vid songs]

So back in Syracuse again. Ehh. The worst is seeing events in LA and not being able to go to them like the Paley event with Hugh Laurie. At least it's not the whole cast/crew I guess. I keep reminding myself that this should be the last summer I have to do this. The good thing is I get to see my kitties again :)

I went to LA the night before I left and had an AMAZING time. First I went to The Kills concert, didn't have a ticket since I just learned about it but I hoped to score one and did. It was easy actually, didn't even have to ask. But it was my first real concert and I had a blast. I did have to stand through two hours of other bands and wait for awhile for them to appear but when they did it was one of the best experiences of my life. Cause let me tell you, The Kills in concert are AWESOME. They played a whole bunch of my favorite songs like URA Fever, Sour Cherry, Cheap and Cheerful, Alphabet Pony, Black Balloon (someone actually had a black baloon!), Fried My Little Brains and No Wow among others. I wished they had played Cat Claw and What NY Used to Be but was happy with what I got especially Sour Cherry. I just loved the energy of being with all the other fans and singing along and most of all getting to see the artists perform. They are just so amazing in terms of charisma and sexiness and really getting into the music. And they'd get close to us, I was in the fourth row or so and a few times it looked like he was looking at me even if he wasn't. It's so indescribable. And after they left, we made a lot of noise and they came out again and played Hook and Line and another song with the other band, The Horror. Towards the end they fell on the floor and got all tangled up in each other, it was funny. I can definitely get now why people go to concerts, I must go to more.

Then I biked to Factory Nightclub in West Hollywood which wasn't too far. I liked it a lot, very big, had big screens like Club Vivid with pretty lights and confetti and many pretty boys :) It started out perfect too as I was high from the concert and went up to the bar and started talking with Jonathan who was super nice to me and we talked about a couple things before he hugged me and left. Then I gulped down a drink and went out to dance and just was transported to a place where I could dance my heart out and not care what anyone thought. They played a Lady Gaga song (not Just Dance breaking my clubbing record at four but I came in late so I'm sure I missed it) and best of all, Girlfriend so I could yell out the words pretending it was the House vid up on the screen. They also played Circus which was SO much fun not only because I imagined it being the Star Trek vid but because I accidentally hit this guy (not the good part) and then he came over to dance with me and it was so much fun. I danced to they chased us out and I'm sure part of the free part was the alcohol but it just felt like one of the best experiences of my life. Mmmm.

Of course the crappy part came after that when I had some trouble getting home since the freaking subways close in LA at night...don't even get me started. I decided to bike down to try to catch the bus I needed to take...it took longer than I thought. It was nice to see some of LA though and I managed to catch the Downtown Disney bus so it all worked out in the end. Managed to get a few hours of sleep before I had to get up to pack and take my stuff to storage. Barely managed that in time but I got home alright so it all turned out okay.

I got my job back as soon as I came home so at least I'll have some money. Been working this week in the morning and then going home and napping in the afternoon. Last Tuesday I went to Buffalo to visit my grandma since she had a seizure earlier in month and wasn't doing so well although she was home with people taking care of her. She can't really talk except for a few hard to understand words (think Failure to Communicate) but can see and understand people talking. It's so sad to see her that way :( Makes me appreciate my life and health more at least. Finally got internet there last Sunday (see West Wing post). Also spent some time with my cousin (first removed) and she was really nice. Turns out we both watch Ugly Betty and like Harry Potter so that was fun to talk about. Also in other family news, my favorite cousin is pregnant and due in August so that'll be the first baby of the family I know. I don't know what to think, we'll be cousins first removed but I like my cousin much more than my brother so I care more about this kid than any other ones. We'll see what happens.

In good Chapman news, my new major got approved! And I did really well with grades, much better than I thought :) Got two A's, an A- and a B+ so I'm really happy with that since two of my professors must have been very kind to me. A bit worried about money for next year but hopefully that should work out alright. Next year I'm taking Introduction to Graphic Design, Computer Science II, History of Political Philosophy, Foundation Course in Photography and Dance in World Cultures (GE). I'm looking forward to it although bummed I can't take History of Television (same time as major class, too many credits unless I wanted to overload myself).

Trying to work on my Premiere vid and not freak out about time and getting it done. The Vividcon schedule came out and once again I'm forced to make tough decisions between panels and vidshows. Probably going to do all panels except my own of course (I'll need to find someone to take detailed notes on Vid Watching 101-price I pay) but it's so frustrating to have to choose between Also Premiering and Understanding Audience *sigh* Ah well, better to have too much to do than the opposite. Had another vid idea for The Wire which I do like but it's so frustrating that I keep getting ideas that aren't what I want: interesting exploration of the people and ideas expressed in the show.

Reeeally hoping Federer will win the French Open this year! Nadal left it open for him so I'm calling it as fate for him to beat Pete's record by winning the only grand slam that Sampras never won. God, how I love them. Hope he doesn't let me down!

Spoilers for American Idol Finale )

In other news, last final is tomorrow. A bit worried because my motivation has dropped down to almost zero. Thankfully it shouldn't be too hard but I do really want an A in this class. Finished my two hardest finals on Monday and think I did well enough for at least a B on both of them so I'm okay. In better college news, I'm changing my major. I was frustrated because my major wasn't artistically creative enough and none of the other majors fit me so I decided to create my own major. Going to do a Web Design major combining art and computer science so I'm really excited about it. Going back to NY on Saturday night, I think I'll be okay for the summer. If anyone in the LA area wants to meet up Friday evening/night, let me know. In other good news, I do these economic experiments for money and I won 100 dollars last week! It was amazing, I had 20 chances to pick a number from 1-100 and if the random computer picks the number, then I win and I picked 43 and did! Sooo nice.

GLEE!! It certainly made me gleeful. I will give Fox mad props for airing Glee after American Idol where it fits in perfectly. Spoilers under the cut )

In short, I am completely in love with it and I have a new show, yay! I am so sad I missed the preview in Santa Monica with the cast but sadly SoCal public transportation SUCKS. Ah well, I'm sure it'll be at Paley next year. This helps the lonely sad hole that Pushing Daisies left in my heart. Yes, I finally watched the final episode and it reminded me why I love the show so much. I may have teared up at the end. Damn you, ABC. And speaking of, I tried Cupid but sadly the female lead was horrible. So NOT my Claire Allen. The Trevor guy was good but the difference between Jeremy Piven and him was striking since Piven is so amazing. Poor, poor show.

I had one of those rare vid match making sessions the other day as I was able to pair a vid idea I want to do with a song that I thought would be great to vid to. And it TOTALLY works. I'm so excited that I went and vidded the ending since it works so well. Here's two House vid recs: I Just Want You by [profile] inkytips is a super cute House/Wilson vid that pretty much sums up exactly what I believe about their relationship. It uses some of the wonderful S5 clips with a nostalgic look back at past seasons. I like the pacing on it too. I also like Meds by [profile] scully1121, a great more character focused House vid (although a bit too much House/Cuddy for me personally but that's just me) about obviously, House and vicodin. I love the jump cut editing and use of imagery. HUGE spoilers for the S5 finale so don't watch if you plan to.

I have two Dreamwidth invites if anyone needs one. Leave me a comment and I'll invite you :) And a pretty, Brian/Justin kiss picture before I go. Keep it gay everyone, keep it gay.

So glad this week is over. It was deadline hell week over here with a big hw assignment due on Tuesday and a test the same day. And then I worked most of the next three days on my Club Vivid vid, freaked out about it being a little late and then learned I had extra time til Sunday (had a self-imposed LJ sabbatical to work). THEN I of course forgot to turn in an assignment that's going to have BIG grade ramifications *sigh* You know those times when you can't stop laughing because everything keeps going wrong, kicking you when you're down and there's nothing else you can do but laugh? (and then you weep) Have done that twice this weekend. This is my life. Yesterday I took a break and watched TV and relaxed because deadlines are of the evil for a chronic perfectionist procrastinator like myself. On the good side, done with the vid which I like very much (was in sucktitis for awhile there) and VERY excited to do my Premiere vid. It's a good reminder that vidding with my heart greatly increases my motivation levels.

I'm on Dreamwidth! My account is here (does anyone know how to get the little DW user symbol?). As mentioned previously, I'll be crossposting and leaving comments open on both sites. I'll be moving to DW once I add everyone on DW (it's coming along slowly) and customize my journal so I like the way it looks. I'll be making a filter on LJ for non-crossposting people so I don't have to read things twice and since I don't want to defriend people. I'm just excited open beta is finally here and it's actually happening. Paid accounts are only $3 for a month and there are plenty of free invite codes flying around (check my friendsfriends if you need one). And bonus: no advertising whatsover. Including anti-gay marriage ones that were found on LJ the other day, joy joy. My prediction is most of fandom will migrate in 1-2 years but who knows.

Have I mentioned I lost my old hard drive? Yeah, it was going to cost 650 to fix WITH the discount (originally 200 more) and no way can I afford that. So I lost my vid collection and lots of important documents and clipping for a vid. Ugh. As I'm rebuilding, I have to ask: can people make zipped documents of ALL their vids? Because it'd be so much easier to just extract that and not have to redownload every single link. I'm just saying, it'd be nice for the lazy among us. I will of course do the same.

I still have lots of stuff to catch up on and it's kind of overwhelming. On the good side, my roommate's been gone all weekend and next year I'm getting a single!! I am SO EXCITED because I really need my own room. I like my privacy. Plus it's in the Film/TV living learning community so I'm happy about that and hope to meet some cool people. Although as I have been reminded this semester, I really suck at making good friends. It's just so hard to figure out if people really want to hang out with you or how to ask them (like Fraser in Burning Down the House!!) and whether you can trust telling them the more intimate parts of your lives and how. Blah the internetz are so much easier.

I have the last Pushing Daisies episode in my posession but I haven't watched it yet. I don't want this show to be over :( God, what a tragedy. DAMN YOU ABC. I've been so cynical about ratings and shows being saved (Chuck, TSCC, Dollhouse) because it's just all about the money as shown by ratings and it's so depressing. I want to help change it but I don't know if I can either ability wise or in terms of ideal career wise. We'll see I guess. In good news: there's going to be a special preview of Glee at Paley next week!! I am soooo going, I've been dying to see this show. And I'm hoping and praying that Victor Garber will show up...I'd die of happiness. At least I'll finally get to use my membership since the last two times I've been foiled with car troubles and vacation trip.

I've been catching up on Desperate Housewives since Marc Cherry's coming to my school this Tuesday. SO excited! He's supposed to give great presentations. But I'm totally loving this show and I can't remember why I quit it. It has exactly the kind of funny that I love, the deliciously evil kind and omg that is so horrible, I can't believe she just said that (I love her). I love all the characters (well Susan's a bit boring) but Bree, Gabby and Lynette are made of awesome and deliver the best smackdowns. It's so much fun to watch. I'm in mid-S3 right now, hoping to be done with it by tomorrow night.

Are episode titles/writers spoilers? If so: Future House episode title and writer spoilers ONLY (nothing about the episode) )

Oh god, guys I am so in love with House/Wilson I can't even. Like last night I was all GIDDY watching vids of them and listening to vidinspiring music and omgtheyaresoinlove. Everything I say seems so inadequate to describe them and my love for them. THEIR LOVE IS SO DEEP AND UNSAID! It's House Day yay! And one more week til the finale. All is well in my world.

[Current Music |"Walk On" by U2]

Miraculously I am caught up on my Flist. Remind me to never do that again. Thank god for being able to read all entries on a certain date. Also mostly caught up with TV, did some of that in Florida which was great. House was very happymaking and it was so good to watch it with [livejournal.com profile] indybaggins and squee over the House/Wilson stuff together. I could never break up with that show <3

Anyways, I had a fun, wonderful vacation in Daytona Beach, Orlando and Miami with all my friends, old and new. I finally went to Disneyworld which I've wanted to do since I was a kid. Back in the day, everyone at school would always go for vacation and I never did and always wanted to. My best friend went instead of going to my birthday party which always made me sad so now I finally got to experience it. I visited all four parks, went on most of the rides and got to meet Timon and Rafiki (lots of Lion King love there) so I was happy. Favorites were the Aerosmith roller coaster (LA!), Soarin' (CA!) and the Everest mountain roller coaster. Also had fun at the Daytona Water Lagoon and Daytona Cubs game as well as seeing the pretty, pretty Miami beach and South Beach. I made it home alright to CA thankfully with a small travel curse mishap at the end but it was okay in the end thankfully. I took lots of video with my shiny new Flip Mino video camcorder that I'll share later in the week.

It is nice being back in CA and not having to go back to cold weather (in fact it was really hot). Unfortunately I am really overwhelmed with school right now and on top of that I have a Club Vivid vid to make in nine days. I don't know how I'm going to do it. I'm feeling really frustrated because I'm having a hard time doing any college work and it feels like a repeat of my freshman year and I'm really, really worried I'm going to mess up again. It just feels so much easier right now to ignore it and hope it goes away even when I know that's a really bad idea. I'm behind on this one class and I try to read and focus on it and I get distracted and start not caring at all. It's so hard to get out of vacation mode. I have this one assignment due late tonight and I hope to god I can figure out since it's really hard. I do have lab today so I can ask my professor for help.

We had this TV class night where graduates from my school with jobs in the industry came back to talk about it which I was hoping would inspire me and it did a little early but at the same time scares me if I can even hope to find a place for me in there. I still find it so frustrating not knowing what I want to do for a career. I just want to do something I enjoy but it feels like nothing I enjoy doing can be done for work. I just wish I could stop constantly career angsting but at the same time I really wish I had the motivation to know THIS is what I want to do.

I'm definitely moving to Dreamwidth on April 30th although I'll still be crossposting to LJ and have comments open. I'm probably getting a permanent account if I can get the money. I'm just so glad there's finally a journal service that has improved features, listens to its users and won't pull the crap that LJ did with Strikethrough and similar as I trust its founders.

Thanks so much for all the comments about my grandmother, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately it doesn't look good as she has an agressive brain tumor with a very low survival rate/remission. I can't really believe this is happening, I usually can't deal with this kind of stuff unless I can see/hear it. I just hope for the best right now.

On a Vividcon note, I'm doing my first vidshow this year! It's called Motion Roller Coaster and here's the description:

Showcasing vids that feature a strong emphasis on motion, from external to internal, from found within the source to created, and for thematic, musical, emotional, and just plain shiny reasons. Get ready for a ride in every direction!

Please suggest any vids with a lots and lots of motion here or just fill out this poll and I'll check them out.

Two vidding questions and vidtalk [Apr. 4th, 2009|08:15 pm]

Two vidding questions of the day:

1) What is your definition of a crack vid?

2) What are your favorite Lord King Bad Vids?

CVV vid clipping should be done today, yay! Since I'm soon to be vidding, I've been thinking about pacing and vidding to the beat and such. In dance clubs, there's usually a strong beat and I know I want to hit that a lot but at the same time I don't want to clip in the same place and make it repetitive. I read somewhere that it's not how fast the video clips are but rather that they're placed at different lengths and the pace varies that determines how fast the vid comes across to the audience. So I will be trying to do that to keep it fast moving and fun to watch.

Note to Self [Mar. 25th, 2009|05:58 am]

Note to Self: Do NOT put a ton of vid ideas (41 to be exact) and Eminem music reminding you of high school on your iPod. Because then I will be up til 6 am listening to it and coming up with ideas and singing along. On the good side, excited about vidding! House/Wilson and Alias ideas are accompanying my mind the most at the minute but there's tons of variety. On the bad, need sleep. Thank god for afternoon classes.

Also on last night's Heroes: can it GET any slashier? And yet I think I actually shipped a het pairing for the first time with HRG/Angela. So I can add that to my list of Nathan/Peter, Hiro/Ando, Sylar/Mohinder, Matt/Mohinder, Sylar/Luke, Matt/HRG/Nathan/most guys on the show. It's a bit crazy but the show is crazy so it all works out. So glad Bryan Fuller is back though even if under bad circumstances. And I totally spoiled myself reading the guest cast credits, oops.

Too many vid ideas [Mar. 14th, 2009|10:46 pm]

[Current Mood |creative]

Know what's frustrating? Getting new vid ideas that make you want to vid RIGHTNOWOMG. But I can't since I have a Club Vivid vid to work on. And I am working on it! By my calculations, I'll have the clipping (the bulk of the work) done by the end of March giving me all of April to finish it. I make up for the Florida trip since I have Spring Break with nothing to do so I can hopefully get a first draft or something like it by then. That's the plan.

But then I have vid ideas that hijack my brain. This one is a Jack/Irina one so after listening to it over and over, I am watching Alias. As you do. Jack is soo pretty. And his opening scene is definitely one of my favorite intros ever. Haha boyfriend takedown. Victor Garber has the saddest eyes though. It kills me every damn time. And boy does he need them with his daughter, wife and best friend all hurting him half the time. And Irina...wow I could watch her ALL day. How is she so awesome? Now I remember why I love this show. I will be filled with love for the SpyFam til the day I die. And the SpyRents <3

I finally decided on my Premiere vid too so I am slowly clipping that in the background. Had to go with the biggest motivation vid that my hearts wants to do. Because the heart is smarter than the brain and all that. It'll be interesting to see how it goes over at VVC. Heh.

[Current Mood |frustrated]

So I've developed a plan for my year to try to get some of my dreams and goals accomplished. I'm really excited about it and have been making daily to do lists in order to keep tabs on what I need to do. I'm using a small notebook to write down all my thoughts and ideas and so far it's proving very helpful.

My first thing is getting the money to go back to Chapman or my backup, Santa Monica College. Who knows how that'll turn out but I've been working on getting financial aid from both. Chapman starts classes on January 26th so hopefully I'll be leaving a few days before then and Santa Monica starts in mid-February but I'll be trying to leave as soon as possible to get out of the cold. I've decided to major in Computer Information Systems while taking some TV classes and doing a lot of TV research and experience on the side so I can get in the industry or some job related to TV after I graduate. I'd major in TV but the major at my school is focused on the creative side of things and as much as I love art, I'm just not an artist in the true sense of the word and don't want to waste my time struggling through scriptwriting classes (not to mention the application). I'm interested in getting some computer and business skills so this major totally works for me (low on essays helps too). So for the rest of my list:

1) Get all A's and B's in my classes. This is the most important thing and goes before everything else. I need to prioritize and not save things til the last minute which can be paralyzing if it's a big task. It's a huge boost to my confidence and self-esteem if I do this so I'm going to keep it at the top of my list. This blog is proving helpful with lots of good tips for any students out there.

2) Be at a healthy weight and stay healthy by playing a sport. I reeeeeeally can't wait to get back to California so I can play tennis outside along with many other sports. Running is alright but I don't like to exercise unless it's fun and sports are lots of fun for me.

3) Meet new people, find new friends and develop some good relationships. I really miss my friends at Chapman (and my cushy job) but I'd really like to branch out and meet more people like I wish I'd done more my freshman year. I especially want to meet some more TV lovers even if they don't go to my school.

4) Make every effort to have a romantic relationship. Cause I really, really want one and I have lots of romantic experiences I'd like to have. Doesn't hurt to try.

5) Finish at least three vids. I'd even limit it to two just as long as I finish my auction vid and a Vividcon one. I just need to get something done this year as my fannish output last year was quite pathetic.

6) Keep up with TV and finish at least The West Wing, The X-Files and The Sopranos.

7) Build, organize and listen to music collection including classic albums and top contemporary ones.

8) Read Wicked (finish), LotR, The Temeraire Series, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Watchman.

9) Read Plato, Aristotle, other classics and nonfiction about TV and business.

10) Volunteer for LGBT rights/Obama.

11) Watch vids, keep up on feedback, stay caught up in fandom.

12) Learn Spanish because it's necessary when living in Los Angeles.

That's the plan. Now it's just a matter of going out and doing it.

On another note, once again my computer is having problems (of the unmountable boot volume variety) and I am ready to throw my computer off my desk, Lex style. Or Barney style as the case may be. So I may not be around as much until that gets fixed.

Happy New Year everyone! Kinda late, yes but I hope the first month of everyone's year is going well. Just a reminder that January 15th is More Joy Day basically where you spread some joy around by doing something nice anyway you can. For example, while getting drinks for New Years, I forgot my money and some kind stranger paid it for me. I was really touched and it brightened my night not to mention sticking with me even now. People can just be so wonderful. So now it's time to spread it through fandom!

It's Vividcon season YAY! Go here for details but the most important is that registration is at midnight Eastern US time, between Saturday February 28 and Sunday March 1. There's a poll there too to vote for the date. I so cannot wait.

I have a new show! I am massively in love with Beautiful People, a UK show about the life of Simon Doonan (Barneys Creative Director) who I fell for when watching Top Design. It's hilarious, full of joy and fashion and musical theatre and family love and craziness. I just adore it to death. And the older Simon is SO hot and has he and his boyfriend (in the prologue/epilogues) are so cute. Simon and Kylie are my absolute favorites, their friendship is so wonderful. Only six episodes but I savored every episode and love it completely. Definitely worth a try!

Speaking of British TV- Re: Doctor Who Casting Spoilers Under the Cut reaction just in case-also spoilers from the special )

Yay Philly winning! What an awesome football game. I always stood by my Donovan and I just *knew* they'd win this game. Love the Giants but they had their glory last year and now I just reeally want the Eagles to win the Superbowl, let alone be in it.

Does anyone know if the BSG webepisodes are worth watching? I haven't seen them yet and usually them up but I do want to know more about what happened in the finale last year so anything about that?

[livejournal.com profile] deathisyourart writes about Beecher/Kellar here and talks about some of the reasons why I love them SO MUCH OMG. B/K is one of those couples that never leave you and just rest in your soul until you think about them and spontaneously burst into love for them.

[livejournal.com profile] clayangel did this AMAZING comic of the story of how Ryan and Colin met here. As someone who loves fic but loves a visual even more, this is everything I've always wanted to see and makes me SO HAPPY and it's just utterly adorable and romantic. God, they are so meant to be *sighs happily* Everyone should check it out!

It makes going through my iTunes library and rating everything SO worth it when I can listen to my four star playlist and love everything in it. Mmmm music. I will say my biggest disappointment so far has been Kanye West's new album. I only liked one or two of the songs and I feel like he took all the *soul* out of the songs that I loved on his previous albums. I mean, nothing ever compared to The College Dropout which is still on my top five album list but there was always a few songs I LOVED and most songs I enjoyed. I was giving songs ones and twos! I almost never do that so it was sad. Couldn't get into Fleet Foxes either and I don't get why they're so loved but I care much more about my favorite rather than the best in music so I don't mind. I am however loving Bitter:Sweet's The Mating Game, Artic Monkey's Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, Amanda Jenssen's Killing My Darlings, Aimee Mann's Lost in Space, Flobot's Fight With Tools, The Kill's Midnight Boom, Matt Pond PA's Several Arrows Later and Last Light, OK Go's self-titled and Oh No and Spoon's Kill The Moonlight.

If Youtube takes down your youtube vids: Fight it!. Check the comments for more. Also, how to beat the audio finding system here.

TV's back! I loved the new Brothers & Sisters (x2), Gossip Girl, Scrubs, Ugly Betty (the best imo, loved it soo much) and Greys. Also caught up on SGA and saw the finale which was alright but the best part was that it and Vegas convinced me to read some John/Rodney fic and it was gooood. My favorite was A Place On The Corner which is the cutest thing ever and is just my Rodney perfectly and why I love him. I laughed so many times and it's all just a perfect love story. I still can't believe it's over...thank god for fandom.

Life balancing, vidding, essays and my boys [Dec. 1st, 2008|02:31 pm]

[Current Music |new vidsong]
[Current Mood |rejuvenated]

Gah you people really do post when I'm away. I love it but it takes forever to catch up on it when I just want to luxuriate in all of beautiful fandom. I missed it a lot and as always, I feel like I'm coming home. Don't know where I'd be without it. Lots of vidtalk which makes it take even longer but I'm hoping that's because people are on break and therefore have more time for vidding, right? Right? Let's hope so.

I was shocked and horribly saddened to hear of [livejournal.com profile] tv_elf's death :( She was so nice to me at Vividcon and it was good to talk about The Wire or see one of her vids. What a tragic loss to the world, fannish or not. A memory post is here.

I feel like I know what direction I want to go in now although I don't know specifically what I want to be yet. But I am learning to be okay with it (or maybe the universe will provide a path for me! as I like to say) with the uncertainty. I know there is a ton of things I want to do that take a lot of time and I am trying to find out the best way to balance them in the way that will make me the happiest both now and in the future. The one constant I know is that I NEED narrative. Whether it be the books of my past, the TV of my future or a fun movie now and then, I've got to have it. Can't imagine life without it. Now there's a ton of TV shows I need to catch up on and I don't want to devote too much time to only watching TV and neglecting other things but at the same time...I need context for vids! So who knows how many shows I'll get through in the coming year. That leads me to vidding in which I need to get my self in gear and FINISH these damn vids. My goal this year is to get rid of all my obligation vids, vids for cons and vids that I've had for over three years because they really need to get done no matter what new, shiny vid idea comes along. In fact, one JUST did for The Wire which I'd have to metaphor the hell out of but it would be fun. Still looking for my perfect Wire song and I'm hoping my new music collection will turn up a song not to mention my other orphan vid ideas. Vidding takes a lot of time though; I've given up on clip notes because I look at it too much as writing=work and then it never gets done so I'm going to just watch a lot of the show and clip it in Premiere. But that's the vidding plan for the Vividcon Year.

So then there's the other non-fannish stuff. I feel like I have a large gap in reading knowledge in truly understanding the world and how to make it better. So I'm going to need to read up on all the classic books, stuff on political systems and action and lots of stuff about TV for my future career. My love of learning is coming back stronger so I think it should be possible if I can find the time. I have to fit that in with college classes (and getting A's) and part time work (not to mention clubs and events and stuff) so who knows how much I'll be able to get done. Then the last big thing is getting involved in activist stuff whether it be gay rights or Obama related things. Kind of scary and not sure how much time its going to take and what I can do but I know I've got to do something because the time is now. So there's that. Those are the basic things I'm trying to figure out how to put off so I have enough time for them all and I know it may involve some sacrifice so I'm trying to figure out what I can give up in terms of time demands. We'll see.

Then I've been trying to figure out my aversion to writing especially essays. I think maybe I finally found a reason through vidding. So I've always loved that vids can be like visual essays and that they can say so much about the source. But that visual essay love never translated to loving/liking essays and I was trying to figure out the difference. And then [livejournal.com profile] dollsome posted this brilliant Stephen Fry quote which expresses it so much more eloquently than I ever could:

"Had I the patience and the discipline I should have chosen literature. But, while I can read Middlemarch and The Dunciad or, I don't know, Julian Barnes or Jay McInerney say, as happily as anyone, I have this little region missing in my brain, that extra lobe that literature students possess as a matter of course, the lobe that allows them the detachment and the nerve to talk about books (texts they will say) as others might talk about the composition of a treaty or the structure of a cell. I can remember at school how we would read together in class an ode by Keats, a Shakespeare sonnet or a chapter of Animal Farm. I would tingle inside and want to sob, just at the words, at nothing more than the simple progression of sounds. But when it came to writing that thing called an essay, I flubbed and floundered. I could never discover where to start. How do you find the distance and the cool to write in an academically approved style about something that makes you spin, wobble and weep?

... You could only write successfully about books and poems and plays if you didn't care, really care, about them. Hysterical schoolboy wank, for sure, an attitude compounded of nothing but egotism, vanity and cowardice. But how deeply felt. I went through all my school days convinced of this, that "literary studies" were no more than a series of autopsies performed by heartless technicians. Worse than autopsies: biopsies. Vivisection."

YES, this. I don't necessarily agree about the not caring part but for me, that's exactly it. But vids for me DO capture that emotion, that love and it's not so much as splitting up a source as celebrating it, reliving it and creating something anew from it's beauty. And even in writing posts on LJ or not, I feel my thoughts are like birds, free of any bounds and restraints and yes, disorganized but spirited and alive and full of energy. And putting them to paper/screen feels like it's taking all the soul out of them to make it sound regular and ordered and...just there. Maybe there's a way to overcome this or at least help the effect but that's why I love vids as opposed to essays.

In extremely happymaking news, I got my House and Arrested Development DVDs!! Just now :D Well only S4 for House but S3 is coming for my vidding pleasure. And I've waited so long for AD, stuff just kept coming up but now it is mine! It's so nice to be able to watch my show whenever I want to not to mention all the extras. Eeee Bluths! I've been enjoying a lot of the TV this season although not feeling particularly excited about a lot of it (The Office is always delightful and full of love though). However lest I long for an obsession, I have House which remains after three months, my favorite and I'm so in love with House/Wilson it's not even funny. It's not an all consuming love but one that just needs a spark for me to fill up with glee and to believe so deeply in their pure true love. I just cannot see only a friendship and I don't want to because they are so perfect together and I love them. And now I can vid them :D While looking for clips the other day, I found the video where Wilson actually says LOVE POETRY to House. God, they slay me, I had a full on squeeing session after that.

Back to catching up!

Yes, you read the year right. 2007. I FINALLY typed up all of these notes which I've been stopping and starting at random intervals. But better late than never, right? I have some notes in here but they're kind of scattered and hard to decipher. Apologies in advance if I forget people or things, it's been awhile.

Thursday, Friday with brief Hip Hop and Tech Panel Pt.1 Notes )

Vid Structure Notes )

How Vids Work Notes )

Movie Vids Notes )

Late Saturday til Monday )

And that was Vividcon 2007. I had an amazing time, my first Premieres vid went well and I got to reconnect with people from last year and meet new ones. My goal for the year was to say things in panels and once I did it, it got easier and easier so that now I feel (pretty) comfortable with it. Overall I felt a lot more sure of myself and not so overwhelmed with all the people I was around. Yay Vividcon!

That's how I (still) feel about Obama winning. Where Muggles are people who didn't vote for him or people from other countries. It still feels so glorious and wonderful each day waking up to know the Obama (President Obama!) is going to be our next president. It's just this happiness that washes over me each morning and randomly each day. I want to chase this feeling /Toby. Already he's working on making the goverment more democratic and participatory. Check out www.change.gov for more including "requiring his Cabinet officials to have periodic national broadband townhall meetings to discuss issues before their agencies", not signing "any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days", "improve the assessments used to track student progress to measure readiness for college and the workplace and improve student learning in a timely, individualized manner. Obama and Biden will also improve NCLB's accountability system so that we are supporting schools that need improvement, rather than punishing them", supporting "the principle of network neutrality" and trying to "pass the Fair Pay Act to ensure that women receive equal pay for equal work and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.". SO AMAZING.

Another good thing this election brought me? Rachel Maddow. Even when I was ignoring politics, I couldn't help but watch a few minutes of her show just to see how brilliant, funny and hot she is. I'm going to be involved in politics more now, watching a bit more news, reading more about what's happening, the government and the issues so this LJ may not be as politics free as it used to be but there still should still be a large amount of fandom with vidding and all the shows I watch. I just finally feel like we can bring about real change and I want to be a part of it, to do my part in making this country better.

Now about Prop 8. I'm trying to leave aside my disappointment, sadness and anger and instead channel that into actually doing something about it. On the good side, Prop 8 only applies to future marriages and there are going to be court challenges to it. I can only see that as good because it is not fair at all for the majority to take away the rights of a minority. I'm all for propositions and direct democracy but not in cases like that. Also I hope we can add a proposition to reverse Prop 8. I do think that it is horrible that people are blaming African Americans for passing this as it's everyone who voted yes for the Prop that's caused this to happen. Lashing out like that is wrong and doesn't accomplish anything. The same thing goes for acting like chickens are getting more rights. Um NO. Animal rights has nothing to do with Prop 8 and giving farm animals basic decent treatment is a good thing that should not be bashed.

I am heartened by all the anti-Proposition 8 protests happening in California although I wish I could be there to join them. But now I can and you can too! Join the Impact is organizing a nationwide protest against Prop 8 and the other measures that take away equality and civil rights next Saturday, November 15th, 1:30 - 4:30 (Eastern/10:30 am PT). I urge everyone to check out the website and find the closest location to you for the protest taking place at City Hall or another place as mentioned. I am organizing the Syracuse protest here because I really want to do something against this proposition and I urge anyone who is in a city without a organizer or that's not represented to try to help start one. So that's what I'm going to be working on this week.

In vidding news, [livejournal.com profile] laurashapiro put together a vidding documentary for MIT to show to middle and high schoolers. It's here and there's a bunch of vidders there talking about vidding. I'm in it as well, the second person with the LA shirt in the What is vidding? video. I saw it at Vividcon and I was so happy to see how it turned out. Everyone should go check it out and see how awesome it is! Also if you're looking for AMAZING vid meta, check out [livejournal.com profile] tishaturk for some wonderfully interesting thoughts about vidding and narrative, two of my very favorite things.

I hate the new LJ profile page. Why do they change the things that aren't broken?! At the very least they should give us an option to opt out of it. Argh.

Other good things: new Sex and the City movie next summer! Let's hope they don't give a BS reason for splitting Carrie/Big up this time and give us lots of time with all four of the gang. Also can't wait to see Quantum of Solace, mostly for the Daniel Craig hotness. Speaking of movies, I got four movies including Harry Potter 5, American Gangster and Sex and the City for only $20 dollars the other day. And I'm starting on getting one of my friends to watch The Wire and she likes it so far so I'm really happy about that. Still working on catching up on shows, did Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, Entourage and working on Friday Night Lights which is amazing as usual. Hopefully I'll have some thoughts about them in a later post.

I voted. [Nov. 4th, 2008|12:37 pm]

[Current Music |"Yes We Can" by will.i.am]

So today I voted in my first presidential election. It's such a milestone to finally be able to do that. The best part is I voted for Barack Obama, the (hopefully) first African American president of the United States who I support and believe in with all my heart, mind and soul. It was quick for me, took about five minutes long with no line but it was still glorious and monumental and just SO NICE. Just pulling those levers made me feel so proud and happy that I, we finally made it here and are making this happen. I got all emotional because this is actually amazingly finally happening. Wow. Just wow.

As I say, I don't vote because my vote matters but because it matters that I vote. It matters for Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Stanton and all the women who worked for the vote and all those who didn't have it. It matters for the African Americans who couldn't vote, for the young people who can't vote, for the people without property that once couldn't vote and for the people from other countries who this election effects but who can't vote. It matters for anyone who has ever been denied the right to vote. So no matter who you vote for, I urge everyone reading this to vote.

Tonight I'm working and thankfully missing the election night craziness (and not House) but hopefully by the time I get home, the election will be decided for Obama. And hopefully I'll have a much happier Flist tomorrow then I did four years ago. Can we call tomorrow More Joy Day if he wins? Cause it definitely will be.

So last Monday, [livejournal.com profile] lianri and me went on a small road trip to get to Chester, PA to see Barack Obama in a rally and although we braved snow and rain and long lines, it was all so worth it to see him. Basically the driving in snow storms, freezing in the relentless rain and waiting for 5 hours is forgotten in my mind when I remember his speech and being with a rallying group of Obama fans and just seeing him so close. We got there at 5 am or so when there was about twenty people ahead of us. The best part was playing an Office quote game I made up where one of us would say an Office quote and then the other would have to name the character who said it, who they said it to and the episode it was from. We both did quite well actually although I'm a bit rusty from my old knowledge. We didn't get any pictures besides us in line as they said we couldn't take any which we later found out was a lie. But we were only two rows from the front so it was okay in the end.

After waiting through other speeches, he finally came out and he looked just beautiful even in jeans and a jacket. It was so surreal to finally see him live, to hear him speak with his amazing voice and words and to be more inspired than I ever have by a politician speaking. He made me forget all about the cold and rain and *believe* in him and change and the possibility of a better future. It was exhilarating. I still can't believe it actually happened, it feels like a dream but it was worth all the money. Once he was done with the speech (it's online probably), he came around to shake people's hands. I was *inches*, centimeters away from shaking his hand but basically I came that far to touching him as someone else got the handshake. Ah well. After all that, nothing could take away my happiness. I was just jumping around in a happy high. After seeing snow for the first time I had been really depressed but he reminded me that I could overcome that just like this country can overcome all the horrible things we go through. YES WE CAN.

In other good news, I have my computer back! Fixed it on Saturday/Sunday and have most everything working well again. Now trying to catch up on TV and the like, so far Pushing Daisies, Heroes and Gossip Girl have been a lot of fun. Hard drive next week and then much vidding fun follows. And I'm happily aglow with all the great vids that have come out in the last few weeks not to mention I just finished Smallville S7 a few days ago so I finally saw a bunch of vids I haven't seen before for fears of spoilers. Gah vidders are so amazing.

Go vote!

Wilson is sad and so am I. [Sep. 30th, 2008|11:59 pm]

[Current Music |tv in the background]

I'm feeling so bummed tonight.

Ruminations about my life and college )

Didn't like House tonight. One guess why. Promo > Episode. The thing that disappoints me about House is it's never going to be the show I want it to be. I hate the episodic procedural plots sooooooo much and the ducklings are all boring and I don't like them besides Kutner who is very cute. If it was up to me, it'd just be the issues and craziness of House, Wilson and Cuddy's life with minimal medicine stuff when relevant. Also House and Wilson would be together and kissing a lot but hey. And as much as House is my favorite and I always enjoy his hilarity, Wilson is just pure love. I am kind of in love with his voice. And RSL was oh so cute in that interview with Lisa. Saw a little bit of Clueless and Safe the other day and OMG I love House/Wilson and miss them so much. Also saw Failure to Communicate tonight and awww I love House/Stacy too. They're totally doomed but it makes it easier to ship as I can just adore their cuteness and that beautiful hotel scene. I can't help loving the shared history type couples with that past you can never go back to but that connection remains so you can't help but be drawn together.

Back in July in Montreal, I had this wonderful dream where House and Wilson were sitting against a wall (ever notice that Wilson always sits to the right of House/left to our eyes?) and Wilson was all unsure of their relationship and vulnerable and such (post S4) and House leans over and kisses him to try to reassure him with the words he can't say. It was perfect. I blame it for making me desperate to see them kiss. But I was thinking whether it'd ever be possible for me to recreate that dream with vidding. Like in the future can we get actors to be in different positions when they kiss or however you'd do it. Sounds impossible but who knows? And then I had this dream recently with House kissing Wilson on the cheek and it was all so sweet.

I'm dropping Fringe which completely bores me and True Blood where I don't like the characters and relationships because I can't get myself to care to watch them. Maybe I'll catch up with reruns later. I am watching Greek which is enjoyable especially with the great gay storyline and Freaks and Geeks which is not my kind of humor (Judd and me don't mix) but I love Lindsey and James Franco and Jason Segall are incredibly hot, plus cute geeks so I'm enjoying it. In the last week, one person on my list was converted to The Wire and another to Firefly so I'm very happy there :) I kind of want to change my mood theme to an Irina one but it's been so long having this one that I'm not sure I want to change, I just miss seeing it on my Flist. I probably will change back but maybe I will when I have the time to mess with it.

Still have no money, probably won't get hard drive for another month. I have way too many wants for the amount of money I'm making which is one big reason for college then why am I having such problems motivating myself to do well in it? Argh. And I reaaaally miss LA. First it's getting cold here and I hate it more than words can say and then I miss out on Office writers, Arrested Development events and cons in general. Wish I could go to Dallas too so I could see Doris Egan do an informal commentary on House vs. God, still my favorite episode. On the bright side, I now possess the Pushing Daisies DVDs and they are so pretty. Pie-lette is just as perfect as I remembered. I am forever charmed by that show. On my list of favorite all-time shows, PD wins over fifth place which hopefully will continue into TOMORROW, yay!

I love looking at TV ratings cause I love TV too much but if you're interested in how your shows are doing, check out TV By The Numbers. The best thing is the Renew/Cancel Index which predicts which shows will be cancelled or might be by looking at their 18-49 demographic ratings which need to be at 92% of the network's average to have a good chance at surviving. So far Til Death, Old Christine, Lipstick Jungle, Knight Rider, T:TSCC (why is this show not doing better numbers :(), Gary Unmarried, My Name is Earl, Privelled, Prison Break, The Unit, Cold Case and Ugly Betty (noooo) are in danger in order of severity. Thankfully The Office, House, Heroes, Grey's, HIMYM, Gossip Girl, Brothers & Sisters and Supernatural all seem pretty safe. I find it all so fascinating.

I usually never do these but it's been a horrible crappy day so here it goes, my thread at the love meme.

So of course today I have to deal with stupid computer shit AGAIN and I'm still dealing with it, yesterday I deal with school crap all because I was an idiot AND I find out that SGA was cancelled :( I did not expect that at all and didn't have a show canceled last season so I totally forgot how that feels. I don't want to lose my Rodney and McShep and Team. It's just not fair and seriously what else does SciFi have without them and BSG? Argh. Still behind on all my VVC catchup as I finish catching up on my Flist and I can't seem to not turn doing my con report into this big overwhelming thing no matter how much I've learned that it's a great way for it to not get done. Thank god for VVC and the vids from it being awesome though, con crud or not. I want to vid though and I can't! It sucks but hopefully I will by the time my birthday comes along. Of the good: I FINALLY found a vidsong for an idea I've had for two years. Hell yeah!

Oh and my aunt (grandma's sister) died last Friday so I'm going to be going to Pittsburgh this Friday and Saturday for the funeral. I didn't know her that well but it's still sad *sigh*

Sorry for the depressing entry, hopefully my squee will return soon.

Home from Vividcon! Travel went well for once and everything was on time. Had an AMAZING time and saw a ton of crazy awesome vids that made me squee a lot. The challenge vidshow was particularly insane. And of course the people were fantastic! I miss everyone already. Going to be catching up on LJ, watching my DVDs and sleeping today but hopefully tomorrow my con report will be up and I have lots of notes for everyone. Yay, vids!

Now if I can only find the Mad Men episode I missed...

My reaction to this year's Vividcon Premieres show: HOLY FUCKING SHIT. With crying, squee and lots of blowing of my mind. Best vidshow ever.

Also, I did karaoke to Superstar which was probably one of the scariest experiences of my life. But I did it and hopefully it didn't suck too bad. I just put all my heart into it. FAVORITE VID EVER! Plus I got to dance to it at Club Vivid which I've been wanting to do for years if only for that first chorus.

VVC has been incredibly awesome so far and I am having the time of my life as I do every year. How is it possible that such an amazing thing like this exists? Everyone I've met has been absolutely wonderful. And the Color panel has totally changed how I view visual media. I love vid meta. And I'm in the documentary!

Oh and we have everything: slash, femslash, het, incest and lots and lots of kissing/sex. Oh yeah, baby.

The bar has been raised.

[Current Music |"Just Dance" by Lady GaGa <<perfect Club Vivid song]

OMG it's VIVIDCON tomorrow!!! The last few days I've had big bursts of excitement and now I just cannot contain it and I'm super hyper and bouncy and high because I'm going to be at VIVIDCON tomorrow!!! I've been dancing and running to try to let it out but that's just making it worse. Oh god, so much energy and I still have stuff to do. Like pack!

For the record, I will be at the hotel anywhere from 3:30-4 as my flight arrives at 3 PM. My cellphone number is the same and it's turned on and everything so feel free to call me whenever. On the agenda, seeing everyone (HUGS!!!), working out with [livejournal.com profile] counteragent and seeing the vidding documentary. And there's going to be Veronica Mars, Doctor Who, Middleman and Slings and Arrows room parties that I'm excited for. Oh and I've got my Club Vivid outfit for the year! It works for me, can't wait to dance to all the new vids :D I can't wait to see everyone times INFINITY! I miss you all. And seriously, I want to talk and hang out with everyone! I don't care if I don't know you at all, vidlove connects us all as does fandom and I always like to meet new people at VVC. And anyones welcome to hang out with me at any time!

Okay my LJ addon just announced it's Vividcon's birthday this Friday! Six years old, how cool is that? My mind is so hyper right now, I keep going from one thing to another. It doesn't help that I saw a promo with JILLIAN in it during the Olympics and so now I'm crazy excited for that. Too many things!

I'm also watching 27 shows this fall for sure. And up to 10 (or more?) new shows will be tried out. Have I mentioned I'm crazy? Hahaha good. I keep seeing promos during the Olympics of shows that I'm watching and it makes me so happy. Especially The Office ones. I love fall TV!

So I've been trying to catch up with Smallville and I'm only at the beginning of S7 but gah, when did this show get so bad? I just...the dialogue is so horrible, I'm sorry. It makes me laugh a lot especially when I predict what they say. Lex is still smoking hot thankfully and Lionel is a wonderful magnificent bastard (LOVED that scene with him and Martha in the end of S6) but I'm mostly meh about everyone else. Kudos to Lana in the season premiere though. I thought the storylines in S6 were kind of meh but this season is just putting me to sleep for the most part. Except for super hot newspaper guy. And oh god, Clana. I want to KILL MYSELF because of them. Barf, barf and more barf. Most hated onscreen canon couple times a BILLION. Didn't Al Gough or whoever promised no more Clana? Stupid liars. I went from closing my eyes, to skipping their scenes to having to turn an episode off it was so bad. Look, in S1 it was kind of cute sometimes in a infatuated first love kind of way. In season 7? It's LAME. They're 22 for godsake! Change in subject, Lex is HOT. I remember why I fell in love with him back in the day. I feel bad for MR though, I can see why he wants to get off the show. And as for KK well, I watched Sugar the other day and that says it all in terms of her characters. I'm so sick of the pedestal and the boys revolving around her life. Just get rid of all of them and be your own person! God.

Anyways, back to the squee. Vividcon in 12 hours OMG! Once a year this happens and it sneaks up on me after the long wait and then I get there and I wish it would never ever end. I mean it needs to because I have a billion things to do from vidding, watching new vids, feedbacking, reccing, etc but still, it's heaven. I promised myself I would never miss it barring a catastrophe so every time I go, it feels so good to be there. This is it guys. The big one. The one we've all been waiting for. /Oliver Wood. I can see the hotel so vividly in my mind, it'll always be my favorite with the staircase and the con rooms and House O'Meat and the big lobby and the elevator *recalls it fondly* Does anyone know what time breakfast begins and ends? *jealous of everyone already there* New vids in two days OMG! This is going to be amaaaazing.

Vid LOVE forever and I'll see everyone soon!

OMG you guys! [livejournal.com profile] sisabet just made an Arrested Development vid!!! It's about George Michael and it's incredibly cute and hilariously funny (show, how are you so brilliant?) and I adore it to pieces. Go watch now!

Remember how I said I wasn't going to spoil myself for House? Well I resisted until a few days ago when the promos came out and I just couldn't not look (plus video spoilers aren't as bad as text) And thank god I did because OMG can House and Wilson get any slashier? I swear, I was speechless and then sent into the land of flailing squee. I just...wow. Don't ever change, show! (SO CANON) Spoilers for the promos, I can't not talk about them )

So Flist, how did I not hear that Nathan Fillion is going to star in a new show, The Castle about a horror writer that consults with the NYPD that's probably going to be picked up by ABC midseason? And that there's also a good chance that Rob Thomas's show, Good Behavior about a family of criminals led by a matriarch will be picked up then as well. So awesome! ABC keeps getting good points with me. Also I updated my TV schedule with premiere dates and apparently I'm watching 27 shows this year not counting the 10 or so new shows I'm checking out. Um, I'm crazy? Thank god I like it that way. And I'm so behind but apparently J.K Rowling is going to do a collection of short stories including something with Dumbledore/Grindelwald OMG YAY! I definitely want to learn more about my one remaining HP ship.

So I was thinking about how I'm just not very interested in the sports at the Olympics but then someone mentioned gymnastics and I was like YES THAT. That's what I want to watch! I love gymnastics, used to do it as a kid but got frustrated that I had to do floor and sometimes vault when I really just wanted to do bars and beam all day. I still would like to take it up again someday as I reeally liked doing the uneven bars. Apart from that and a little tennis, I'm mostly just going to be checking out random sports once and awhile. I'm rooting for USA of course but I'm always up for cheering for any countries and players who do a great job and make it fun to watch. And of course, I'll cheer more for teams from people who are on my Flist. So far the countries I've got are Canada, the UK, Australia, Belgium, Germany, France, New Zealand, Sweden, Spain...anyone on my Flist from somewhere else? I'm sure I'm forgetting some because I suck at thinking of things at the top of my head.

I watched a little of the So You Think You Can Dance finale and it was fun. I finally got to see the great Will who was wonderful. Mostly though I lamented the lack of m/m dances. I wondered if there ever was any until conveniently someone on my Flist answered my question with no unless you count the fight dances or whatnot. Cmon, there's gotta be another Prom scene out there someday! I do enjoy shows like American Idol and the dancing shows because I do love singing and dance but there's just not enough of a creative competition element like Project Runway. Plus I hate the America voting aspect because ultimately it usually ends up like political elections where I am left cursing half the population for having the bad sense to choose someone I don't like. Thank god the stakes are much lower. I'd rather just get mad at a few judges who at least are more qualified to judge than me.

Have I mentioned that my last external hard drive stopped working on my laptop? Works on other computers, just not mine. Argh. And it has all my Queer as Folk episodes on it! Not only can I not vid it but now when I'm in the mood for my B/J and pretty gay boy loving, I can't even watch it. Why is life so unfair? And to continue with the tech curse, three pairs of headphones (two cheap, one expensive), stopped working. The first two in a span of two days. It's ridiculous really.

So I went to Ithaca this weekend to visit [livejournal.com profile] lianri and did some shopping and found some great things! I'm excited. Project Runway has also influenced me way too much and I kept finding clothes that reminded me of Christian. I found one shirt that is *perfect* for Vividcon...except I won't be able to wear it til next year. Damn it. I love it LOTS though.

Speaking of Vividcon, only 4 more days! Eeeee. I'm caught up with Psych so now I only have to finish Smallville season 7 in four days. Totally doable, at least for me. I am so glad VVC is this weekend because the one thing that I want to go to second most in all the world, training with Jillian Michaels (and hanging out!) with a bunch of people from her site is that very same weekend. On the one hand, it sucks that it's at the same time but since there's no way I could afford it anyway, at least I won't spend a weekend at home being jealous. I'll be at Vividcon having an amazing time! In the end, VVC rules all.

One more day until Mad Men! Yes, I have been counting down days every single day this week. I am so easy sometimes.

[Current Music |"Dancing in September" by Earth, Wind and Fire]
[Current Mood |excited]

So the Vividcon schedule is up! I've been waiting for awhile for this so I can get my schedule all planned up. My policy is I usually go to the panels because I love vid meta and vid talk and can watch the vids on my own. But sometimes a vid show is amazing and/or the panel doesn't interest me as much so I do get in a few of those. My tentative schedule:

Vidding History: Of course! I love getting a chance to see classic vids and I'm sure it'll be especially awesome this year.
Joy: I MUST GO TO THIS! This is the kind of gleeful vidshow that's best to experience with a crowd much like my favorite LKBV show from 2006. It's so much fun to squee with everyone and be around people who *get* why. The energy is amazing.
After Effects: I've been waiting for this one for a looong time. I opened After Effects once, played around a bit and then ran away scared. I'm so excited to see how the famous Eric/Vince kiss was created! That would definitely be useful.
Also Premiering: Can't wait to see all the new vids! Wish I could go to the Writing/Vidding panel as well as comparing them fascinates me but oh well, new vids trump everything else here.
Club Vivid: Dancing and new vids! Always one of the highlights of the con.
Color: The panel I'm looking forward to the MOST. Ooooh it sounds sooo interesting. I love color and the effects of it definitely intrigue me and can definitely be applied in vidding.
What Do We Want From Vids Now: I'm always interested in current trends in vidding, pushing the envelope type vids and how it reflects on the past.
Vidding Tech Support Group: Oh god, do I need this. Tech problems plague me and it'd be good to let that out.
I Suck: In the same vein, the insecurities can really hit hard for me so this is much appreciated. Plus, chocolate!
How To Reinvent Yourself in Vidding: I'd definitely love to think about ways to improve, evolve and try some new things. And I think it's really interesting how vidders can do different things in vids.
Town Hall: I missed this last year and was very disappointed later so I'm glad to get a second chance! Always good to talk about vidding and where we go from here.
Premieres: Eeee I can't wait to see all the new vids! At least the pressure will be off me this year.
Vid Karaoke: SO much fun OMG. There's going to be some amazing songs this year and the group energy is so unbelievable to me.
Vid Review: Always fun!
In Depth Vid Review: Noooooo :( This was the hardest decision of all but I simply can't miss all the great vid talk that goes on even though I really wanted to see the Hip Hop Music vidshow. Ah well.
Music Theory: I'm always interested in how to better use music to make vids better.
Challenge/Auction: Can't wait to see the Fuck You vids! Not to mention the auction ones.

I can't believe it'll be here in a little over a month!

[Current Mood |excited]

Okay so I've been nervous all week for this but that wasn't so bad. It wasn't Utopia and the Utopia threesome (or I should say four) of LOVE but OMG THE PREVIEW FOR NEXT WEEK.

Let me preface by saying while I think Rose is alright and I sometimes liked her, ultimately she feels too Mary Sueish to me (I'm NOT saying she is) and I can't relate to that (ironically). Plus the crazy fandom love has seriously turned me off her. Also I do NOT think in any way shape or form she ever had a romantic relationship with the Doctor and although I do not deny the subtext, I do not choose to see or believe in it. I love them as friends, that's it. There is a wonderful thing called platonic love that I really like on this show. I can't stand people claiming as if Doctor/Rose is canon because it ISN'T. Embrace ambiguity people. Oh and authorial intent is bullshit.

Brief Thoughts for Doctor Who: Turn Left )

And now the preview of love...

Spoilers for the Doctor Who Preview )

So the Premieres vid is a no go. I tried but it just was not going to get done in this short of time. Ah well. I'm just glad I worked my hardest to get it done so I have no regrets. Disappointed about not having a vid for VVC but it's not the worst thing in the world and at least I'll get to relax and just have as much fun as I can there. Can't believe it's less than two months away!

I am so fucking frustrated right now. So I bought an external DVD drive today (I/O magic external dvd drive, dont buy it!), one that was supposed to be able to "Watch all your favorite DVDs from your computer". Guess what? Doesn't work! It's all connected, I can see the DVD in My Computer (which sometimes doesn't respond now) and yet I can't get it to play on VLC or work in DVD Decryptor. I am so sick of buying tech crap that doesn't work and worst of all, having no idea why.

This is kind of crap that makes me want to give up vidding because I really cannot take these problems over and over and over again where I waste so much precious money on it and get barely anything in return. All I wanted today was to start burning these dvds and start clipping and now...nothing. FUCK. Just right now I have over $200 dollars of tech stuff that doesn't work. If I was rich enough I'd be throwing all this stuff across the room right now like Lex because I have just HAD it. Life was going good and then this stuff comes up. It just never ends.

To add to that, my sunburn really hurts. God, I'm so stupid.

Lots of Little Things Part 1 [Jun. 11th, 2008|10:35 pm]

[Current Music |"Not With You" by Tegan and Sara]

Okay lots of little things to talk about so I'm going to divide this up into two posts.

First a really important announcement if you haven't read it yet:

[livejournal.com profile] counteragent's little sister-in-law, Jenny, is very sick. It would be so wonderful if you could take a quick moment (just like 3 minutes) to check out her family's blog (http://jenjensfamily.blogspot.com/) and see if you think you might know anyone like Jenny. They are looking for "comparables" (people who have similar symptoms) that may have had success with treatments Jenny's docs haven't yet tried.

They would also really appreciate it if you post about this on your blog and thus help them spread the word.

Check out [livejournal.com profile] counteragent's vid that she made on her journal as well.

Book rec: Everyone should read and if you can, buy [livejournal.com profile] claudiagrays new book, Evernight for it is awesome! If you like vampires, definitely check it out but there is also great characters, romance, wonderful twists and great writing. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to read the sequels! I read it in one night as is my favorite way to read (and watch) things so that was fun.

A request: If you make icons, PLEASE label all your icons with your username/icon community. It makes it so much easier when saving icons to use for LJ later. In order to credit, I do type the names of icons but its annoying and I wish every iconmaker would make it easier for people to credit them. Also if you make fanmixes or provide music to download, PLEASE make zip files for people to download. I am lazy and don't have the time to click on every sendspace link or whatever so I usually skip it if it's in that format. It doesn't take long to zip a bunch of files and if someone doesn't want a file, they can just delete it. If you have a personal website, it doesn't apply as much. Which I really am going to get my website back soon, I hope.

On the computer front...more and more crappy tech issues keep coming up. Both of my hard drives stopped working after a year and a half and there is no hope of recovering them *sigh* So I lost 800 GB of space and 90% of my music collection, lots of DVD footage and all my episodes. Most can be redownloaded/reripped but it still sucks. I have sworn I won't buy another external hard drive until I can afford a 2 TB one because multiple hard drives are annoying but I at least have one left to rip dvds and download stuff too. My keyboard got fixed...but now it's not working again ARGH. The tech guy bought me a new DVD drive since that didn't work (I paid for it) but then couldn't install it and in the process has messed up my sound so now sometimes its all staticy and weird. Why universe, WHY?

Plus now I have to buy a new external dvd drive and can't start vidding the Premiere vid until Friday. So I now have two weeks to get that all done...going to be a race against time. We'll see if that gets done. Thank god for shortness and knowing what I want in terms of clips. It's not a big deal if I don't finish it like last year, I just REALLY want to have a vid at Premieres. Plus I think it'll challenge me and push me past my usual style so I hope I can finish it.

If you ever wanted to see a list of Stargate Atlantis vids to download, here's a good one. So many amazing ones for this fandom. Another Sunday is a MUST for anyone, I don't care if you've never seen the show before. One word: sparkles.

VID REC: Sexy Back by [livejournal.com profile] dayln03. This is a Brian vid from Queer as Folk to a song that's been used a lot but it is sooo beautifully edited and proves once and for all that Brian is the sexiest guy alive so it totally works. I love this vid so, so much.

I apologize in advance for the spam but it's not like I post all that much anyways.

Real quick before work:

Today is the last day before the LJ elections, vote here. Fannish candiates in the lead are [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy, "[livejournal.com profile] rm and [livejournal.com profile] vichan but check out [livejournal.com profile] fandom_votes for more. Just don't vote for [livejournal.com profile] jameth who has proven to be an asshole.

Free pins for supporting NBC shows at the Emmys here. I may have got the Office one :)

I finally had a Vividcon dream last night. I've had four pre-Vividcon dreams which somehow take place at my grandma's house and include VVC people and sometimes panels/vidshows but today I was at the actual hotel and we were Club Vivid vids Premiere style. For some reason, there were multiple vids to the same song and I know I saw [livejournal.com profile] mranderson71 and [livejournal.com profile] counteragent's vids there.

So I may have spent most of Memorial Day weekend watching all of Brothers & Sisters. But it was so worth it! I enjoyed it greatly and it was so nice to get addicted to a show again for the first time since Oz. I was really annoyed the other day seeing someone describe TV as "visual crack" but you know what? I love my visual crack. The addictive quality is the best part! So I started watching mostly for the gay storylines with low expectations but it turned out to be pretty good. I love the family banter among all the family with all the funny lines and making fun of each other in a affectionate way. My two favorite characters turned out to be Kevin (I am nothing if obvious) and Sarah who I recommend for everyone on my Flist who loves strong, business women who are awesome. Also Sally Field is wonderful as Nora and it's so great seeing Ron Rifkin back on my screen! Odd at first as I kept expecting a Rambaldi reference or him to have some kind of mastermind plan or being weirded out that he has slightly similar relationship to his former psyriatrist on Alias. I wonder if I don't like Balthazar Getty or he just has a habit of picking kind of wooden characters because he's the weakest cast member for me here. The Everwood cast is fun to see here too as well (damn you, Berlanti! hee) and it cracks me up that Robert McAllister is like Bobby from Jack and Bobby. Rob Lowe is pretty but I HATE the politics storyline on the show. There was a great quote that described me from the show, I don't like the fight [of politics], I like supporting the cause. But the family and relationship stuff is great.

It's just so nice to see a gay character (Matthew Rhys is soooo cute as is his accent) get the same amount of time as straight ones in his relationships. There is plenty of boykissing on this show :D It SOOTHES MY SOUL. It really does. I never get enough of it. And Scotty is adorable especially when he smiles and kind of closes his eyes *melts* I'm so easy. It's amazing what having one gay couple can help break up the heteronormality (see also Grey's Anatomy).

Anyways, spoilers: Spoilers for S1-2 of Brothers and Sisters )

I think loving this show is my cue to watch Six Feet Under which while it has a different tone and better overall writing, is all about a family with a family business, a gay character (Michael C. Hall!) with boykissing and Rachel Griffiths. So add that to my long TV watching list. Which speaking of, here's a TV meme about the past TV season:

TV 07-08 Season Meme )

I've been sick with a cold/headache all weekend as well which was annoying but thankfully it's mostly gone. I've been feeling pretty optimistic about my life lately which is always good. This summer I really want to do a lot of things I haven't done before. For one, I want to really explore the city and go out and do stuff which I've never really experienced or seen. Plus I want to visit some places from my childhood that I never really got to say goodbye to. I just never went out a lot in high school and I'd like to really do that. Also I'm planning on going on seeing the US Open finals if I can because I reeeally want to see Federer play (my favorite tennis player) and hopefully tie or beat Pete Sampras's (my previous favorite). I saw them play together a few months ago (on TV) and it was just amazing. So that will be a fun NYC trip.

I've been feeling a lot more romantic for awhile now, Jack/Irina kind of inspired me back in January and it hasn't really gone away so who knows, maybe I'll find someone. It feels like I'm over my two year kind of thing (don't ask) and even though who I'm looking for is rare, you never know. It'd just be nice to actually experience romance versus live vicariously through my favorite TV character although that's always a nice alternative for my hopeless romantic self.

I'm been in kind of a vidding funk in typical horrible timing but I'm working on my 5 facts vid meme I got tagged for and it's just so much fun! It's definitely helping so that's good. Now that TV season is over, hopefully I'll have more time for vidding stuff.

I've been experiencing an Office renaissance with all my love for the show coming back full force as I rewatch the show. It's reminding me why this show is my favorite and why I want to obsess about it so much. I'm still going to be doing my rewatch with clip notes/posts after Vividcon season is over. But for now fun rewatching is always great. It's funny, in the past couple weeks, I've had people on my Flist falling for The Office, Firefly and The Wire and it just makes me SO HAPPY to see such great reactions to them and reminds me of the first time I fell in love with all of them. It really is an amazing feeling and one I wish I could repeat sometime. And that is why I watch so much TV, in that never ending hope that I'll find another show that makes me feel that way and so full of love.

The Shows I Watch [May. 6th, 2008|06:47 pm]

[Current Music |"Yesterday" by The Beatles]

Based on that essay that started it all, the what shows are you watching meme. I have way too many shows for this meme, but oh well (it took me forever though!). All of my shows behind the cut, find the ones you watch/are interested in.

Shows I Currently Watch )

Shows I Used To Watch (and sometimes still do) )

Doing this just reminds me how much I love TV and all my characters and ships and thank god for all of them proving so much joy in my life along with the fandoms that develop from them. I love TV! At the same time though, I've been feeling an overload because I have so many amazing so many great shows and ships I'm loving right now. I've been getting into House fandom, specifically House/Wilson because when I first got into the show I was deep into Office obsession territory and I didn't give my favorite slash ship the attention they deserve. So if I recently friended you, that's probably why. And I'm LOVING this season and all the slash so that's inspiring me a lot in reading fic, watching vids, watching the best episodes, listening to podfic and reading discussions about them. At the same time, I still am reading some Beecher/Keller fanfic, loving Brian/Justin fandom sparking my love for them, squeeing over Barney/Robin, watching Ryan/Colin clips on youtube and reading favorite fics and every time someone mentions Jack/Irina (or I see a picture), my heart squees and I get very tempted to start obsessing about them again. There's just so much great ships and shows out there.

On a different note, I haven't watched American Idol for years (I watched an episode of the Carrie Underwood and Bo season a long time ago) but I wanted to check out the Beatles episode(s) because I love their music and it was pretty entertaining. It hasn't changed much, I still dislike Ryan Seacrest (sorry [livejournal.com profile] dollsome), I still love Simon (I can see why House worked as a great follower to the show) and he's very slashy with Ryan, and the singers are all decently talented and mildly entertaining. The David A kid is way, way too cute. Ultimately I stopped watching and will continue to because it feels like a waste of time in a popularity contest whereas I love creative reality TV with unique challenges each week. On the other hand, it made me watch Scooby Road again and OMG I love that vid so much. My third favorite vid ever and the end gets me every time.

Lots of TV thoughts to come!
